    Bridesmaid dress dilemma

I agree! They can take in the 14.
  2. 50 lbs is awesome. Congrats, that is a huge deal. Just keep in mind that you did this for you, so don't let them get to you. I know that is easier said than done, but...

    Cloudy and Zoned Out

Anesthesia has a long term effect on you. Not to mention all the other stuff they pumped in you while you were in the hospital. Feeling cloudy is perfectly normal. Just take things easy and trust yourself when it comes to setting a pace.

Help! Am I drinking too quickly?

The 1st week after my surgery, I could drink like that as well. I don't know why but it didn't last. I can't drink like that now. I too have a hard time with room temp drinks. They just don't go down well at all. I had to start using insulated containers for my drinks. You should be ok as long as you aren't gulping things down. If you don't feel discomfort, I wouldn't worry about it at this point. You have to keep in mind that liquid goes right through your sleeve. You can tell once you are on solids more accurately how much your tummy can hold.

    I cried tonight ...

That is wonderful. I am so happy for you.
  6. I have had a lot of pain over the past 3 weeks. As I got further from my original surgery date, I realized the pain had to be from something new. Saw the Dr yesterday and was sent to the hospital for an ultrasound which showed gallstones. There is no infection though, which is a relief. I was admitted and scheduled for a CT scan. I am now waiting to see a gastro Dr. I have been told that surgery is a given. They are trying to decide if it is urgent enough to do later today or to schedule me for Friday, which is my Drs regular surgery day. The CT showed 3 areas where there are still large remnants of the hemotoma I got following the massive bleed that I had after my original surgery. Anyway, I just wanted to check in and let you guys know what is going on. I am having an EGD at noon and then we wait. Sorry for the 1big paragraph, not too good typing on the phone. Will update when I can.
  7. 54 lbs is really great! I remember you struggling in the beginning, but you worked through it. You are just a week ahead of me and reading your posts, helped me get through my tough first few weeks. Gratz and good luck as you continue to progress on your journey.
  8. I bet it is very comforting to have those facts though. Good for you, for taking the initiative to find out for yourself.

    OhYeah! Protein Drinks

I got an OH Yeah shake at the hospital yesterday. It was by far the best chocolate shake I have tried and believe me I have tried quite a few. It was really good and had no protein taste and no bitter after taste. I got it at GNC and they also have the bars, Curious.

    NSV shout outs

On my way home from the hospital yesterday, I had hubby stop at my mom's house. I sat outside on the patio and talked to her for a few minutes and updated her before we drove the rest of the way home. When I went to leave, I walked into her house through the patio door and didn't notice until I had walked through that it was the first time in years that I hadn't had to turn sideways to walk through that door. The little things really do matter.

    gallbladers gotta go

The leak test was perfect. Couldn't ask for better news than that. I was released just after noon and am home now, which is so nice. I have an apt with my surgeon in the morning to discuss removing my gallbladder and he will decide then if my drainage tube can come out or if it needs to stay longer. Thanks for the well wishes...I'm going to take a nap! hugs, Maddie

    gallbladers gotta go

When they did the endoscopy, the dr saw what he said "could have been a small leak. however, there were no "bubbles". So it could have been a tiny leak that repaired itself. He did put 2 clamps on that spot though. Just about the time I was good and awake, they came in and took me to radiology to use a CT scan to pinpoint exactly where to insert a drainage tube. They said it looks like one of the areas that had a blood clot in my abdomen has liquified AND/OR I had some leakage. Either way there is a lot draining into a little bag hanging from my stomach. Tomorrow morning, I am going to get another leak test, but I wasn't given a time for that. I will update when I can. I was also told that IF after a few days, my pain has greatly improved, that I may end up keeping my gallbladder after all.

    A touch of the "blues"?

I had the blues "big time". Knowing that I would be forever changing my relationship with food, made me feel like I was "breaking up"! I know that sounds extreme but it's how I felt. For the few weeks until I had to go on my liquid diet, I feasted on all my faves. My kids love sushi, so hubby and I had dinner with them. My mom loves homestyle cooking, so I took her out to have my last meal of that sort. I said bye to it all. After surgery, the only time I felt like I really was deprived or anything was when I was on liquids. But, I think that's normal. Now, I don't worry about it or feel sad at all. I have come to realize that in time, I will be able to eat pretty much what I want as long as I remember to keep my meals balanced (75% protein). I am happy that I have made this change. It's the best gift I have ever given myself. Best of luck to you.

    Breakfast???

I do cottage cheese, a cheese stick, or a protein drink. I'm not a big breakfast person so I just grab something handy.
