  1. I am really wanting to get back on birth control. I know at the start of being post-op I couldn't keep down even chewable Vitamins. I haven't tried anything in pill form since. I was sleeved June 11th, 2010. Was wondering if any of you ladies have gotten back on BC after having surgery and if you had any issues. I know my hormones are all outta whack because I havent had my period since surgery, and I already have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome.) Just wondering if anyone had issues with it or not. let me know:) Thanks!

    Long Vent...- very much needed..

Alright, this is a WARNING that this will be long. I really have nowhere to turn at this point. Growing up I was always the "fat/chubby/chunky girl". I ALWAYS had a problen with me weight, the youngest I can remember is me being 8 or 9 years old and being on a diet. So yeah, I got the VSG and only told a few VERY close family members (Mom, Dad, Grandmother, My Dad's Parents, and my best friend). I had told my best friend...we will just call her "A", and asked her to NOT tell anyone. Before I even got the surgery, I had found out she had told people & friends in HER family. I got over it and said I wouldn't care what others thought. So growing up I have always been the "go-to girl" as well. If ANY of my friends needed something, money, or needed to talk, or anything I was ALWAYS there for them no questions asked. And yes, a lot of times I was taken advantage of, and let people walk all over me and treat me like crap. Since surgery I have lost over 80 pounds, so I am starting to look REALLY different, cute even. "A" has been my best friend since I was 6. She has never been there for me the way I have for her. I remember one time I was crying my eyes out and I was upset, I vented to her and her response was..."omg I bought these really cute shoes today..*then begins to explain what they look like*"... Yeah, she TOTALLY blew off everything I said and wasnt there for me AT ALL. Today she texts me and we are talking and all of a sudden she says "what is wrong with you..god!".....I responded "what are you talking about?" She then says that i am being rude and a bad friend lately...and she couldnt even tell me HOW i am being a "bad friend". Since surgery I realized I am allowed to be selfish and worry about myself for a change, and take care of me. I have learned how to stand up for myself. I have learned how to not be a door mat and be walked all over. She HATES that my attention isn't all on her and HER issues that she is having. Her mature text message she last sent said "well i know you were rude like two mins ago, i'm going to go now..GOODBYE"... :nono: REALLY?!?!........ She then goes on Facebook and says "people are soo stupid and only care about themselves".......spoken by someone who only cares about herself. Honestly how do you handle relationships once you change as does your weight? I have realized my relationship has changed with a lot of people. It has made me closer to a few, but has also cause issues with others. I realized WLS isn't just a change physically. It really does change EVERYTHING about you. Thank you for listening.

    is it unusual?

finally found someone else who didnt have one lol. i guess the drain is just an extra safety step then. I just didn't know if it made a difference or not:)

    is it unusual?

The only leak test they had done on me was where i stand up and this machine ultrasound/ xray thingy and they had me sip on this drink stuff and they watch it go down and make sure it doesnt leak out of the sleeve (which it didnt).

    is it unusual?

So after watching MANY videos and talking to a good amount of people, I am now nervous. Is it weird or unusual that when I had the VSG done June 11th, that I never had that "drain" tube thing? I didn't and neither did my other friend who had the surgery with me the same day. What exactly does the drain do? It's just weird to me that i'm hearing mostly everyone had the drain tube (sorry idk what exactly its called), and I didn't have that.

    Hiccups when full

I realized the hiccup thing a few days ago. Once I am full I get this 1 small hiccup, and I know to stop. It doesn't bother me cause it helps me and lets me know when to stop.

update and a few questions :)

a lot of people have been telling me that their doctors tell them they can drink upto the point till they eat, and then just wait 30 mins. the nutristionist lady when she called me to make my appointment with her, she told me to stop drinking 30 mins before my meals, not to drink during meals, and then to wait 30 mins after my meals before i drink. I am def. going to ask at my appointment on thursday if I can drink up until the time i eat because each time thats 30mins of drinking i could really use to get more fluids in. I tried sushi last night, had 1 roll and i had to stop cause it just felt wierd. i know im having to get used to eating again since i was in the hospital all last month and couldnt eat. i will be trying sushi again NEXT month and will see how that goes. I will not be having soda until I am 6+ months post so i will see then how soda will affect me.

update and a few questions :)

I heard you can have it, I just know some people had issues like If they ate it too soon after surgery they could eat it but they wouldn't be able to keep it down. So I'm just asking when everyone who has has sushi since surgery, how long post op were they. My doctor gave me the okay for rice and fish. I don't really eat the raw fish ones, I stick to California rolls :tongue_smilie:haha.
  11. Last time I posted a lot of bad stuff was going on with me health wise..here is the link to my last post to catch you up with what i'm talking about. http://verticalsleevetalk.com/post-operation-vertical-sleeve-gastric-surgery-vsg-questions-answers/7593-help-has-happened-anyone.html Now the good news! This is day 4 of me really trying to get in Protein as well as Fluid since I have been feeling better. I have not thrown up during these 4 days. The only thing I do notice is first thing in the morning when I wake up I feel really sick. But once I drink/eat something, about 30 mins after I feel better. I've never had this before so I don't know if the sick feeling is my body telling me I need to eat or what. I have been doing really well with the eating protein part. I am now getting anywhere between 60-100g a day! I have 6-7 small high protein meals a day. I think my tummy is stretching a little bit (which the doctor said is good) because I can be comfortable after eating half of a turkey sandwich. For dinner I had a turkey burger patty and was able to finish all by two bites of it. But everything seems to be going well I am not dizzy/ light-headed like I was before and I am still loosing. My Questions: 1. When do you think I will be able to have sushi? I AM DYING HERE! HAHA 2. They doctors told me to stop drinking 30 mins before my meals, not to drink during my meals, and to wait 30 mins after my meals before drinking. I have been doing this, but i find it annoying and hard to do at time. Is this something that I will always have to do? Or is it mostly in the first X amount of months that I have to do this? 3. Will I ever be able to have Sprite or 7up ever in the future. I am not much of a soda drinker at all, and I realize it does stretch your sleeve. I'm talking a soda every once in a while. The only time I had soda was when I would go out to resturaunts or something. Lately I have been craving sprite (it's wierd), but do any of you down the road (6+ months post op) have soda at all? Also wondering for New Years about the soda thing cause I usually mix alcohol with soda, by then i will be almost 7 months post op. My surgery date was June 11th,2010, I am down 80 pounds. Thanks everyone

where is my period? for the ladies...

I would check just to see if you are or arent pregnant. I know my doctor warned me my periods may become wierd for the next few months but should start getting a "normal" cycle. Hope all works out of you

Is it possible to drive 3 days after?

I drove from texas to california 3 days after surgery. I wasn't really in any pain. some bumps and stuff would make it sore but i wasnt in pain. i also put a small pillow on my left side between me and the door which did help

help has this happened to anyone?!

I know for a fact that it was not caused by overeating/drinking. I also know that I am not getting enough Protein or anything like that. I will be having my friend go to the store for me tonight to get some things that I found will help get protein and such into my diet. for example this morning I had a scrambled egg. that seems to be sitting fine with me. I am having less heaving, the doctors said they wanted to wait before putting me on Vitamins, but i am considering like a flinstone multi-vitamin chewable or something cause I am always dizzy and light-headed. Also they told me to keep my meals "dry". as in I have to wait 30 mins after each meal before I can have anything to drink. I am going to have my friend buy be stuff with high protein, and i have heard cranberry juice should also be good for me but i wasnt sure. im also pissed off because the doctors are NOT calling me back and I keep leaving messages.
  15. I was sleeved June 11th,2010. The first 3-4 weeks went fine. The day before I was going to be able to move off of liquids, I ended up getting sick. I had not had a fever though. I was dry heaving and the only thing that came up would be whatever I was drinking at the time like water. I have been in and out of the hospital since then. They said my sleeve looks fine is not obstructed in any way, and they aren't sure what is causing this. I will dry heave almost like I am going to throw up and all that comes out is spit or whatever I was drinking like water or crystal light. I just got discharged from hospital on thursday and the heaving has slowed down a lot. before I would have it 15+ times day, and now it's only a few. Every since morning I wake up and literally roll over and start heaving and I feel horrible. The doctors have me on a diet where I can have foods like scrambled eggs and stuff, and I am able to keep food down but i still feel not like myself. I'm trying to get in the protein and nutrients my body needs but I am barely able to eat still. So I am light-headed at times and feel weak and like I said just not like myself. Did anyone ever have this issue? I just want this to be over with and I wanna go back to feeling like myself again. I've also lost close to 70 pounds since my surgery which I know is a really short time period to loose such a significant amount of weight.
