Anyone have a food you sleeve didn't like???
Avahsmommy replied to Becca's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did have a couple slime incidents when I was sick. Had a couple coughing episodes that ended with a messy suprise! The first time was not long after I had eaten and thought for sure the food was coming up, but not a bit a food. It was odd. Other than that, I've never thrown up and the only food issue I have is when I eat spicy things. I love spice! I try to keep it to a minimum, cause I pay for it with acid upset and heartburn =( Otherwise, my stomach hasn't really rejected anything. Got a little upset about a Burger King burger I had eaten...at a time that may or may not have been just a little to soon after surgery =) It's all trial and error and different for everyone. OH! I almost forgot! I totally CANNOT drink alcohol!! I really don't drink anymore, so it's not a big deal to me. I used to drink...a LOT!! But I got bored with it and decided to have a child instead! SO GLAD I traded!! Anyway, on New Year's Day, we had a bottle of champagne. All it took was 3 drink/sips, over the span of about 20 minutes and I was good!! Then one night I actually agreed to get out of the house and go to a comedy show with my BFF. So I go and decide to have a drink...cause you know...I'm out! Long story short I drink about 95% of a (I'm guessing) 12oz drink. I drank it over the course of the show, which was an hour 1/2. I felt buzzed while drinking it. By the time we left, I felt fine. I wasn't driving, but I didn't feel buzzed by the time we got to the car. My tummy was slightly queezy but not bad. Got home, decided to have a drink of water...and...well...I didn't get to keep what was left in my stomach. Wasn't much, but still not fun! -
Oh right! Just using TUMS right now. It puts out the mild heartburn...but it sounds like it's more than just a little heartburn. I'll call...

I don't think so. What is a PPI?

As if I were looking in the mirror...I found someone who put what I've been feeling into words. Except for the part about pre-surgery sourness. I never had that. But other than that...I couldn't have described that better myself! Wish I had a tip for you. But I think we're both at the same impass. I really hope there is another sleever out there who knows something more about it. I had my surgery on 09/29/10. I started at 250. Day of surgery I was 236. The last couple weeks I've hovered around 195. So I too have lost 55 lbs.

TMI...but I GOTTA ASK!!

No antibiotics. But I think I'll call the nurse (who gave me all the instructions) tomorrow and just check. Sure would hate to go in on surgery day, say something, then find out it's something that's gonna keep me out of surgery =( HA! I would be MAAAAAAD at myself!!! :cursing: -
I'm scheduled to be sleeved on Sept 29th! WOO HOO, FINALLY! I have been put on a two week liquid diet. My instructions are to have 5 suger free Carnation Instant Breakfast w/1 cup of skim milk for each pack...to which I also have to add an extra scoop of about 20g Protein mix. I use that extra scoop at night, with "dinner" and pack an extra protein punch at night when I'm at home...to keep the hunger away. Works good. Other than that, it's Clear liquids. chicken and beef broth are my best friends, cause it's something salty and more savory. EVERYTHING else is sweet, so I need that. Plus, each can has a total of 6 grams protein, and drinking it hot really helps with feeling more satisfied. Gotta check the labels on the chicken one though. A lot only have 1 gram protein per serving. Oddly enough, I found Swanson brand to have the 3 per serving...but ONLY the one with 33% less sodium...with a pop can like top. If it's the 33% less sodium with a regular top, it only has 2 grams per serving. Will NEVER figure that one out. Anyway...here is my TMI question...is it normal, or has anyone else dealt with this? Liquids are what goes in...and liquids are what comes out!! Doesn't matter which "#" I go...it's pure liquid!! Seems logical. But seems to me I heard that just because you're not eating "food", doesn't mean you can't/won't have normal bowel movements. But I'm seriously questioning that theory! Is something not right, or is this just one the "rites of passage" into sleevedom? And the GURGLING that goes on...holy mother of things that are loud!! :cursing:
