Gall bladder problems after surgery?
want2lose posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone had any gall bladder problems after VSG? If so, how long after? Did anyone have their gall bladder removed with the surgery? -
When you are back to eating normal food...
want2lose posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you are back to normal food after surgery, can some of you please tell me what you eat for the day....if you ever eat out, how do you manage, what you order, etc. I know you will eat less after the surgery, but am wondering what a typical day is like. Thanks for any replies. -

I just wanted to show everyone my progress since May 14th, 2010. The before picture was taken just 1 month before my surgery and the after picture was on Thanksgiving day! I cut my hair short. New me, new style!

5 month anniversary and down 60 pounds
want2lose posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery date was 05/14/2010 and on 10/14/2010 I stepped on the scale. WOW....171! Yeah! A total of 60 pounds gone! Since I have lost the weight I have been taken off my thyroid and cholesterol medicines. Have never felt better. I have so much more energy again. It's like a second chance at life! I can keep up with my husband and do the things we use to do...bike, hike, walk, play tennis, etc One of the neatest things that have happened is I walked into a place where my daughter was waiting for me. She didn't even recognize me at first. She said she saw me walk in, but didn't realize it was me. I wasn't wearing baggy clothes and she said she thought I was just another person that came through the door. While shopping, my husband even told me that if he didn't know it was me walking in front of him, he wouldn't have known it was me. He said that he can't believe the difference. Since the surgery I have dropped from size 20's to a 12-14. I am so happy we decided to do this. I can't believe how easy it has been. I still try to eat mostly healthy, but do eat the things I stopped or avoided because of the guilt. Now I know I can eat anything again....in moderation! My husband calls me a cheap date. We can usually split a meal because I don't eat as much anymore. If we're on the road we can get a 10 piece nugget, fries and drink and I eat about 4 nuggets, a few fries and a few sips of the drink. He says our food bill has really gone down! LOL! We went out for steak one night and did a plate share. A meal that usually cost us over $40.00 now is only about $25.00 I order a cup of Soup and then he cuts me off a small piece of his steak. I've been getting so many comments lately and it feels great. I told my friends about the surgery. I'm not ashamed of it. It has given my life back to me! The only thing that has changed is Biolife has deferred me for a year! I am actually lighter and healthier than I was before when I could donate, but now....they say since the sleeve is so new, I have to wait a year to donate again! Doesn't make sense to me.....I'm healthier now than when I was donating......still trying to figure that one out! LOL -

Thanks to everyone else who congratulated me. Everyone of you will do the same. Don't get discouraged. There were a couple of times when I stayed the same weight for a week or so, but then I started losing again. I hope you all feel as good as I do! Keep me posted on your journeys! -
Hit the big 50...and not talking about age..
want2lose posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Today I am 50 pounds lighter than I was before surgery! Had a physical a few days ago and my doctor couldn't believe the difference since the last time she saw me. She was very impressed. Since surgery I have been taken off my thyroid my cholesterol medicines. I can't believe how much better I feel. I have so much more energy and can do so much more! One of the best decisions my husband and I ever made! Thanks again to Jean (my angel) who we met on vacation and told us about VSG. :tongue_smilie: -
Best wishes and a few months down the line you'll wish you did it sooner. I'm glad I did. Since my surgery May 14th, I just hit the 50 pound mark today! Before you know it you will too! (My doctor even took me off two of my medications....my thyroid and cholestrol) Keep me posted!

3rd Day Post Op Sleeve
want2lose replied to GeorgieGirl1957's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Glad to hear everything is going good for you. I also had my surgery done in Mexico and feel great! Only one problem...if you call it one, my clothes don't fit anymore....Need to go to Goodwill! As you start to lose weight, don't buy clothes at the stores, go to goodwill or St. Vincents for a bit until you know what size you need. Have a great journey! -
Drumroll please....100 lbs. OFF today
want2lose replied to AJW's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats on the 95 pounds! I think that when you work out that helps a lot. I feel I am toning up ok. I have been biking, playing tennis, walking, hiking and getting ready to use my elliptical. I'm hoping that I won't have to worry about surgery for baggy skin. So far so good. -
Whoo Hoo!! Just got a call from the doctor's office. The lab results are in......I DON"T have to take my thyroid medicine anymore and I DON"T have to take my cholestrol medicine anymore!!!!!! They compared the numbers to my last test and couldn't believe the difference! My thyroid is acting normal again! I haven't taken the medicine since surgery (May 14th) My thyroid is in the normal range again. Hadn't been for 2 years! Same with the cholestrol. Numbers look good. All in the normal range. They were amazed at the results from the surgery! I feel better than I have in such a long time. Currently I am 34 pounds lighter since May 14! This one one of the best things that we decided to do. Good luck everyone, hopefully you will be in the same boat some day....off the meds and feeling great!

Wow, sorry to hear that you went through something that scary. I do not get on the forum everyday so I never saw your experience. I think if that happened to me my husband would have stopped my surgery also. Don't give up on the forum. Sometimes people don't see all the posts. I know I missed yours. It is good to share all experiences, whether good or bad. People need to know what could happen. I went back, found your post and read it. I've glad that you are doing better. (I think I would still have nightmares to be honest)
