    2 Months Yo!

Congratulations that is awesome. I hope that when my time comes that I can be as motivated and successful as you have been!
  4. Well I have looked everywhere to see if there is a list of what you bought prior to surgery. I know that I will need: SF Popsicles Protein shake samples Gas X strips SF Jello FF broth Crystal Lite Anything else that anyone can think of?? I still have about 3 months to go but would like to get everything sooner rather then later since the kids will soon be out of school and summer is always hectic.
  5. Okay after reading through more posts a Tongue scraper and Lysterine strips are being added to the list.
  6. Thanks those are a great idea. I just looked a drugstore.com (love that site), and they have these on sale right now 2 sets of these will cost me $4.98!!! And since I have other stuff to get I will get free shipping. THANKS Never had SF Custard. I may have to try that to see!
  7. For my 6 month PCP check ups, they have to be back to back and have the proper forms filled out. And one appointment with the psychologist unless he felt I needed more, thankful he said i was fine. Was told that if I wanted more before or after surgery that would be fine.
  8. I have a few friends that have had RNY in the past 4 months. They are questioning if the sleeve is going to actually work. They think that I am crazy for even considering the sleeve because the bypass works so well. I have tried to tell them all of the upsides of the Sleeve vs the Gastric Bypass and why I am deciding to go that way. My PCP had never heard of this surgery but asked if I was comfortable with my decision and with the surgeon that I had selected. She was great about filling out the paperwork required by my insurance company. My poor husband keeps smiling and shaking his head when I go on my rants about other people and there opinions. But they sad part is I actually start questioning myself. So did anyone tell you, that you were choosing the wrong WLS surgery????.
  9. That needs to be my saying all the time. I am a people pleaser. Drives my husband nuts because I am always trying to make sure that everyone else is okay with everything. That is why this surgery is for me and what I want. I am have prayed a lot about this and I am actually getting excited about the surgery so that I can start my new life. I have my 3 month appointment in a few weeks. So only 3 more months after that. But I think that the time will fly. I also think I will get out of cooking Thanksgiving dinner :thumbup1: THANK YOU!!!!
  10. Thank you so much. I feel better hearing these things. I guess for me besides these boards it is hard to get any info from other people regarding the sleeve. Thank you all for your support, there is so much information that can be learned from all of you. You all are truly an inspiration to everyone planning to have WLS.!
  11. Thank you all for your answers. I know that this is the right choice for me. I had decided not to tell anyone about the surgery except for a few that have had WLS. I never expected to hear them trying to change my mind. I have researched and talked to people and know what I want. I am sure that I will have this discussion with myself many more times in the months to come. All of you on here are amazing, and such inspirations to all of us that are getting ready for our WL journeys.
  12. Well I am just at the beginning of a very long process. I just started my first appointment on March 3. I have my second PCP appointment next week. I have already seen a nutritionist and psychologist. And can go back whenever I want. I have tons of info from the nut. with info for before and after surgery. I still have to see a cardiologist closer time and a pulmonary Dr. I have been over weight for so many years and have finally decided that I needed to do something about it before I ended up with major health issues. I have a hundred pounds I need to lose. And a BMI of 40 to start. I started off thing that I would have the band but wasn't to happy about everything I have read. And I know someone that has not lost weight with it. Then I considered gastric bypass because there are 3 or 4 people that I know that have had it done in the last 2 years. But then my endocrinologist suggested the sleeve. After much research and talking to the surgeon I think this will be the right choice for me. I have months to go and if I am lucky surgery will be in August at the latest September, GOT TO LOVE INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS!!! But it is so nice to see so much information on here. I think that having to wait this long can make you nervous. I am thinking a may go to a support group meeting next week, they have them once a month, to hear what others have to say. I am hoping that I an make a few before the surgery job hard when you have kids and a hubby who works all night shift. But thank you all for sharing your information it is so helpful for so many. Stacy
  13. I have been fortunate as soon as I told my husband that I was considering surgery he was happy. He has seen me gain and lose weight but mostly gain for over 11 years. My mother pasted away at 51 years old and my dad was place in a nursing home at 55. He told me that he wants me around for a long time and what ever I wanted to do, he would be okay with. He told me that he sees when I am heavier that I am not as happy and outgoing as usual. I hope that you can make him understand that he needs to support you but if he chooses not to that you need to worry about YOU and your future.
