Low carb diet: woozy when I stand up
TTGirl replied to ouroborous's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't get woozy but I get pretty crabby when my carbs are too low. Hope you find the right formula (getting sugar levels up/adequate hydration etc) so that you'd feel better soon. -
Congrats PNW!!! I hope I will be at least as successful at you and thanks so much for encouraging me along the way.

I am two weeks post-op and I have told three persons and really dont intend to tell anyone else since I don't see that adding any value to my journey. Of course, if telling will make it easier in some way then by all means...

Sigh...so now my husband is trying to talk me out of it
TTGirl replied to goodlife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had a similar response from my partner. I just stayed calm (at least when I was discussing it with him) and reassured him as best I could that I was going to be ok. I also outlined the disadvantages of getting heavier as I got older esp given my family's medical history of obesity, diabetes etc. Eventually he came around ... he said since obviously it was important to me he would be supportive although he was still concerned. Hope your hubby comes around. It's natural to worry for somebody you love. Hope all goes well with you. -
I actually had a course of treatment. Didn't lose any weight but I was pretty amazed at how much "stuff" there is in the colon. It's not as awful as it sounds but not the most "relaxing" experience either.

stomach cramps after drinking
TTGirl replied to achopp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am six days post-op and I am having the same problem. Sipping warm soup and tea help sometimes. I got up last night with the same stomach cramping. Since the pain isnt severe and I dont have fever I am assuming the sleeve is ok although I did have some moments of panic. I really hope it settles in the next week or so for all of us! -
Hi everyone, I am scheduled to have the VSG done in Mexico on Friday and I am nervous and excited. My pre-op diet requires three days of liquids only but I have seen posts where some patients had two week liquid diets. Any idea why the difference in duration. I joined this site for some reassurances that the anxiety that I am feeling is normal since I am about to embark on the unknown. Any and all positive vibes are welcome. Thanks so much, TTGirl

Three days to go and nervous!
TTGirl replied to TTGirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, really, Dr. Almanza did it . I returned home just a few hours ago and going through a variety of emotions. Just posting to say thank you to those of you who wished me well and offered encouragement. Melissa answered my million questions to the last few moments before surgery. Dr. Almanza is obviously very knowedgeable and also very personable - I had no second thoughts after I met him. Dr. Betancourt was warm and his visit eased some of the pre-op jitters. Janet is a wealth of knowledge and very supportive. The recovery house is really lovely and an excellent environment for recovery. The nurses, drivers and support staff were helpful and pleasant - language restrictions notwithstanding. All in all in good experience. Tired now but details to follow. Thanks again for the support. I will certainly need to draw upon the collective wisdom as I move toward my goals. -
Hi Dr. Jossart, My surgery is scheduled for Friday evening but I am having trouble staying on the pre-op diet. Today I had vegetable Soup (not cream-based) and boiled wantons. I am resolved to do better tomorrow. Have I jeopardised by surgery and is there anything that I could do to make up for my slips? Also, why surgeons' pre-op requirements differ i.e. some are very strict while others could eat what they want up to the day before surgery? Looking forward to your response. Thanks.
