:tongue_smilie: So I have been faithful to my diet and exercise. I get around 900 cals per day I get at least 60 grams of protein and around 90 grams of carbs. I work out everyday for 30mins some days 1 hour (I started about 3 weeks out) I feel that I am not meeting my doctors expectations for my weight loss-- he was not impressed with my loss. I guess that has made me more motivated which is good. I started out pre-op at 208 then got down to 190 the day of surgery. Today I am 165 and I am okay with that...kinda everyone else with this surgery has me beat with 30 and 40 pounds at 2mos. I don't really restrict my carbs as much as some people do though. It can really over stress your body if you stay in Ketosis for too long..so I would rather be healthy and loose slower I guess but it just makes me jealous how fast others are loosing!! LOL:laugh0: Just so you know I only eat good carbs like fruits..and soon more veggies I can't wait to have salad again but I'm a little afraid of it still they say it is hard to digest. I have small amounts of whole wheat toast and today I had whole wheat pita bread with hummus yum! I also like rice! SUSHI IS A FAV! Anyways I am just wanting opinions and I won't judge if you don't agree with the carb thing.. be honest :001_rolleyes:

question concerning weight and goal
laurel80 replied to mommytoethan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
morning of surgery I was 190. my goal is also 130. Of course we can get to goal silly :confused1: Make sure you exercise and don't cheat too much :cursing: I would love to go eat me some ice cream but I feel if I get started on that it will be bad news! still I can't even get in more than 900 cals a day...unless i ate icecream all day or other deliberate sabotages. So it should not be that hard to get to goal. I'm not in a big rush I think by around 6mos though I should be about there I hope or close maybe 140 by 6 mos then go from there. I'm 176 right now almost a month out. -
I'm sleeved and I'm home !!!!!
laurel80 replied to BandMomsRock's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little jealous. My drain was horrible, it really hurt! As soon as I got it out I had little to no pain from then on. I have 6 incisions! I'm a little over 2 weeks out and they are pretty much healed so...no big deal glad you are doing well. Take it slow -
12 days out and no restrictions???
laurel80 replied to Mommy4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm 2 weeks out today and get to advance to mushy foods. I ate a whole banana before i felt full and had no issues. I did not get all that full especially on full liquids. I can eat 6 ounces of yogurt and just feel satisfied not really full. I'm not freaking out and raiding the fridge tho, I keep pretty busy and sometimes forget about food. But I'm just saying...it seems like I can eat a good amount if I go slow and chew well. It just surprises me. I can drink normally and even gulp ...a few gulps and not feel that weird pressure that I did the first few days post op. I'm too scared to eat steak yet. I would be worried about the staple line still. I ate some pureed chicken salad tonight though with no problems about 1/4 cup..didn't really feel full but don't want to push it. I was satisfied. It was yummy!!!!!!!!!!! -
We are allowed cream of wheat in our phase 2 diet that lasts 2 weeks I bought some protein powder call "ANY WHEY" which I'm quite impressed with. It is unflavored and doesn't have a bad after taste. You can mix it with anything. so I mix up about 1oz of skim milk with a tablespoon of powder then added it to my cream of wheat. It's yummy. I did add a little salt and a packet of splenda too.

I'm now post op sleeve the first 2 day were rough but i'm better now, just having trouble getting in all my fluids! any pointers???

 I am on day 2 and it has sucked. I want FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOd Lol I know I'm being a whiner but it is really hard. But I'm gonna get skinny! YAY! I really hope the next 12 days fly by!!!!!!!! I'm on a 2week liquid only diet. Protein shakes!! My favorite are Ids Multi Pro Whey Protein Isolate Blend Vanilla Cinnamon or the same brand but cappuccino flavored--taste awesome!! Second fav is Syntrax Nectar Caribbean cooler which you can mix easy with water and it tastes like Pinacolada! But even so smelling subway is excruciating and it's in the building where I work!! I also love SF banana popsicles from krogers!! I also cheat just a little and eat carbmaster yogurt from krogers because I'm sure it could be part of this diet but of course you would then get people eating any yogurt they wanted if they said yogurt was okay. But this kind has only 5grams of carbs and 15 grams protein and zero fat= 80cals. So I say 1 a day is okay I will maybe quit that a few days before surgery.:blushing:

I'm ready to go. Clear liquids all day for me. It shouldn't be too bad I'm pretty preoccupied! I've gotten all my shopping done and my bag packed. I'm kinda "nesting" for my sleeve today making sure the house is spotless

Anyone have 12 and 14 petite or short they no longer need?
laurel80 replied to Kabranda's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I will have some soon...but soon you will be down a size! I am wearing a 14P right now. sorry! -
day 10 of liquid diet...only 4 more days! I'm making it! I've cheated a few times with carb master yogurt it only has 4 carbs per serving and 12grams of protein and also a piece of cheese. Today I went to smoothie king and got the gladiator smoothie, it only has a few grams of carbs. My dietitian approved it. My body has adjusted somewhat..It's not always that bad but..I've had bad days for sure, especially when I get bored! I guess just remember there are others going through it too and I've made it this far :001_cool: Hoping your days and mine fly by!

Starting to worry about losing weight pre-op
laurel80 replied to zephra's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Well last week I lost 5lbs I am on my 2 week pre op diet, with one week left. I can only have protein shakes and sugar free liquids. But I added carbmaster yogurt from Krogers it only has 4grams of carbs and 12 grams of protien =80cals. I also eat this AMAZING new cheese it's a 100 cal pack from Kraft called 3 cheese blend. It's my one treat everyday And only 1gram of carbs. I have been doing 800-1000cals per day and although it sucks it is somewhat tolerable as long as I keep myself busy. I also eat these prepackaged SF jello jigglers from krogers called gel bites and that has helped a ton to keep me satisfied. I don't think I could tolerate 500 cals a day yikes!! You should def. go low carb and you will for sure loose the wt by June 9th. And shrink your liver -
:crying: YAY!! I join the club one week from today!!!:crying: I'm very excited! wishing you a fast and easy recovery. Everyone has been saying that after surgery the liquid diet is no where near as hard because you don't feel like eating! Today was a good day for me--day 8 of liquid diet..but my day off is tomorrow. When I'm not busy I think about french fries!! :crying:

yes! i just bought those today! I am getting the burps...it only happens with the chew-able kind too.. because I can take the Slow FE brand with no problems. I am about to have surgery in 2 weeks so i'm gonna need chew-able for awhile. I guess maybe I'll try taking it at night..so I'll be sleeping and not burping

Low BMI NEWBIE needs imput please
laurel80 replied to callalillyland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 207 lbs and I'm 5'3. So pretty similar. I totally am excited about getting this surgery. Anyone that finds out at first usually tries to tell me I can lose the weight on my own. But it's hard for others to understand I feel this is a very personal thing. I am waiting for insurance clearance right now, I have high blood pressure and poly cystic ovarian syndrome so I qualify. Hope everything works out for you! -
From the anesthesia? Then why doesn't every single person who has surgery have hair loss. I think it's more related to the body producing ketones. But hey I don't really know...but it's just hard for me to believe the anesthesia thing....anyone else know?? :sleep0:

Places to get liquid protein samples
laurel80 replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I found those protien shots at walmart too I thought the fruit punch tasted very good. I heard somewhere that this is not a good source of protien....don't remember where I heard that. I forgot to ask my dr. about it. I'm realllllllllly confused about what protien is good and what is not! My surgery is in 2mos. Oh and thanks for all the info on samples I'm really excited now about ordering them!!!!!!! -
Playing the waiting game
laurel80 replied to cwalker's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
totally me too!!!!!!! Just had all my testing done. Psych eval on Monday. Then they submit the stuff to insurance and I wait for the qualification. It sucks waiting but obssessing about the surgery and checking all the realted websites helps pass the time lol Obesity Help. com is a good one. Not as good as this one I'm finding but the people are super nice. Also I am compiling a list of shake recipes for the 2weeks before and after surgery and tasting the different brands. So I will post a blog to review my favs. -
Swallow test before surgery
laurel80 replied to grammiex4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I just had the swallow test ( upper GI sono) today as part of my pre surgery testing to make sure my stomach is normal and they make you drink some really sour really fizzy stuff then some barium that smells good but tastes like a really thick mylanta shake--so yuk!!! you lay on a table and then you can see your stomach on the screen and they take pictures as the barrium moves through. It was pretty cool. -
new to this -- band or sleeve????
laurel80 replied to LydiaHough's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also all set to get the band. I chose to ignore many of the negative comments I read about the band. In my initial consult with my surgeon he told me the sleeve was a much better option for me. So then I started seriously looking into it. And found that as everone else has stated that the long term success was so much better with the sleeve. Tiifykins post was very informative and reflects the information I have found also. My VSG is set is for May 26th:thumbup:
