Can you have a "drink" with the band?

My doc said a glass of wine was alright. -
Should I be able to feel Port outside skin?
Iluvharleys replied to sweet_thang0792's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can feel mine, but it doesn't stick out or anything. I actually like to feel mine because I can tell it is straight up just like it is supposed to be. -

Welcome to LBT! Good luck and let us know when you get a date! -
Good Morning Y'all! TGIF! I am so ready for this week to be over with. Cindy - Sorry about the estate, it's really sad what some people do. You know you can make kind of a list of the things she took that you know of, and those things should have a value put on them. Then, you can make her subtract the value of the items from her share she gets. You might have to protest the will to do it if she gets nasty. But, things should be done right and I am a true believer of that~ Don't that make you mad when you lose a post? I know one time I hit the return button before I hit the post button and it lost everything, now I am a little more careful of what one I hit first. Mandy - That's good news on Abi! I would definately get a second opinion before I had the surgery, but I do know that now they recommend not having the hystorectomy unless it is absolutely necessary. Kat - I think you are smart not getting a fill until all the stress is eliminated from your life, (well the one with DH) I don't know how you would eliminate stress from your life all together, at least I can't! But, the band sure works in mysterous ways and stress makes it go wild. Sherry - Hope you are enjoying some free time alone! I always enjoy a few days, then I'm ready for the old man to come back home! Relax a little while he's gone! Patty - Glad you got the boys back and you are doing so good! Well, I can't remember what anyone else said right now, so going to finish my Breakfast and go to work. Catch y'all later!

I am getting nervous about getting banded
Iluvharleys replied to cattiff's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You are going through all the normal emotions. You'll go through being happy to being scared to death! I read through all the threads on here and learned so much from all of them. I think it helped me a lot to know what to expect, and what others had went through. Good Luck! -
Woo hoo scheduled my surgery!

Welcome to LBT! Good Luck on your journey! -
First let me say congrats on the W/L! That's amazing! The normal is 1-2 pounds a week, and you are losing more than that. I would sit down and talk to him, tell him you are still losing and really don't need a fill. I wouldn't want one either if I was still losing like that. Good Luck, and let us know what he tells you!

Good Morning Y'all! Still coughing and blowing the sore nose! I need to start going the other way, the old tummy is hurting along wtih the rawness of the throat. UGH! Sherry - Wow, that sounds like a beautiful trip! I still haven't rode my bike yet, pretty soon I won't remember how to ride it! It has rained so much here in Texas that it messes up our riding every weekend! Mandy - I must have missed your post on how your tests turned out? Hope everything is ok. They are still calling for rain today, but the sun might peak out for awhile. I got to swim for 2 days before all the rain came and made the pool cold again. Hello to all you ladies that haven't posted! Time to throw my clothes on and get going. I'll catch you all later!

Welcome to LBT! I was the same as you at first, and thought I would have to give up everything I loved to eat. I eat just about anything I want, just in smaller amounts. I sat down and started reading all the threads on LBT, and learned so much from just doing that. I started to understand more about the band and what I could and couldn't do. That is how I made my final decision to be banded. I would suggest you take some time and start reading and see what you think. Good Luck!

1 day post-op and the gas PAIN...
Iluvharleys replied to jeejee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The more water you drink, and the more you walk the better it gets. If you have shoulder pain, use a heating pad. It gets better with each day. -
Good Afternoon Y'all! I tried to post this morning, but things was so slow I couldn't wait any longer. This cold I have is miserable and trying to work with it is really hard. I hope it goes away soon. Yesterday I coughed so much that my port was hurting me. I keep throwing down the meds and hope things will get better. My DH had it and he threw up twice. He hasn't done that for 20 years. He said he just couldn't take doing that! I don't want to start doing that! Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Kat - Sounds like a fun trip! Those kind of folks wants everyone to think they own a bike when they really don't. We have seen quite a few of them! Wish I could have been there! Cindy - Awwwww, your shirts sound really cute! Don't forget to get a picture of them so you can show us! Patty - Congrats on the 13#! Awsome job! Diane - Hope the new fill works for you! Chrispy - Hope the new fill works for you too! I was nervous at 2.5, but it worked fine and I went for more. Sherry - Hey girl! What's cooking? You always make the yummy things! Darcy, Pat, Eileen, Deb, Beanie(brain fart can't remember the rest of the names) and those I forgot, let's hear from you! OK, now I gotta run and start supper! Later!
-
Wow, I can't believe they did a fill on you at surgery. Usually them make you wait 6 weeks for a fill at least. I hope the unfill helps you out and you don't have to do another surgery. Good Luck!
-
Hello Y'all! Well, a nice long weekend, and we are both sick! We enjoyed Friday and Saturday, but Sunday was miserable for both of us. DH brought it home to me! I have slept more in the last couple of days than I did all week I think. When I take something it knocks me out for a long time and I am a zombie! If I don't take something I am miserable! Just can't win! I hope everyone enjoys their long weekend, stay well and have fun! I am sick of rain! We need it, but gosh, enough is enough! Give me some sunshine! Later!

If you can't eat solids, then you are too tight. You should be able to eat meat and even veggies. Have your tried to eat meat or are you scared to try? If you have tried and can't then you need to call the doctor and tell him.
-
Wow! That sounds like a terrific doctor! I'm glad you are feeling better too!
-
My stomach makes all kinds of weird noises! Sometimes it's so loud that I am glad no one is close by!
-
Welcome to LBT! There are risks with any surgery, and let's face it, this is major surgery. I was willing to take that risk, and I haven't regretted it one bit!
-
I think it depends on how busy your surgeon is. It usually goes faster than 3 months for most, but not all of them. I was a self pay and with doctor and hospital it was $20,000. I think a lot of doctors have lowered their prices now though. Good Luck!
-
Karen - I know how hard you tried and how much you wanted the band to work for you. I also know how many problems it caused you. I am just happy to see you have a second option to help you. I am happy for you my friend, and I don't think anyone on this board that knows what you have been though the last year would put you down for anything. My heart goes out to you for just having the problems of your DH to deal with, I know that has been really hard. I'm glad to hear you DD is doing fine with the band! You are a sweetie girl, and you'll always be welcome as far as I am concerned! Hugs!

They repaired mine during surgery, and I couldn't tell they did anything at all! No problems here!
