Thanks Y'all! Paula - No, I didn't tell him. I am a closet banster except for my Brother and his family. I like it that way for now.
-
With the holidays and baking all these cookies and making candy, it has been a hard week, but this morning I am down 3 pounds. I don't know how I did that, but I will take it!

LapBand Food Stages Lists Suggestions
Iluvharleys replied to dylansmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Each doctor has his own diet to follow. It is strange how each one is different. I was told I could have coffee, in fact they even served it to me in the hospital. I would suggest that each of you follow your own doctors rules. -

Tian - Welcome! Please read some of the old posts too, there is a lot of valuable information in them. I had my surgery in October, and I am very happy with it and yes I would do it again in a heartbeat. I can't advise you on the insurance, I was a self pay, but a lot of people here can. Good luck with your journey! -
It scares me everytime I read about one. I really haven't heard of many in the US, but have heard of a lot lately from Mexico. If the doctors don't turn these in as they are supposed to, I don't know how we would ever know the true facts. When I was banded I ask my doctor and he said 1%. Another thing I think is that a lot of people don't post at all until they have problems, so that makes it look like a lot of people when actually it is very few. I hope to keep mine for life, without any problems of erosion. I have heard of some that had erosion and been rebanded too.

I knew Greg couldn't stand it and he would eventually be in here!
-
Yes Michelle, it was from his book. I hope he doesn't mind me posting that, but everyone has always had questions about erosion so I thought it might help some of us.
-
If you weren't nervous, you wouldn't be human. It really is a lot easier than I thought it would be. I would do it again in a minute. Keep reading and you will get all kinds of tips. I went back and read lots of the old posts too, I found all kinds of valuable information on this board. Good Luck to you both!

This is from the book I got: Erosion is considered a major complication. Erosion is when the stomach is perforated by the band. This is not an instantaneous event. This is more a slow process that takes place over time. Eroision is kind of like a worn sock. Once the heel is worn, the rest of the sock more or less stays the same. The mechanism of erosions is unknown. The only explanation is already given: The Lap-band is foreign body and such is subject to the body's own reeactions. An eroded band is a band that is beigh partially eliminated by the body. We know the following: Erosions are very rare and tend to be fewer as experience grows. Erosions tend to have a benign evolution. Erosions are usually not an immediate surgical emergency, though they should be treated as soon as detected. Eroisions may appear initially as an infection at the adjustment port area. Erosions may be totally without symptioms. Erosions do not seem to be associated with anit-inflammatory medications, as once thought. Erosions can be treated by surgical removal, repair, and replacement. Each patient is different and responds differently to the same problem. Since erosions do not have a precise mechanism of cause, follow the guidelines as much as possible; always consult your doctor if in doubt; and cherish your band every day of your life.

Chrissy I am so sorry you had to go through all this. Please post and let us know how you are doing.
-
I am glad you checked with your doctor. It just isn't worth messing up your band.
-
That is great stories from both of you. You both are doing amazing jobs and I love hearing your stories.

Even the best doctor can put a little too much fill in us. I would suggest you call and talk to her BEFORE you leave to go out of town. You certainly don't want to get out of town and have problems. It might just take a timy bit of unfill to make you feel better. You certainly should not be PBing that much!

Mystery Illness/What's wrong with me?
Iluvharleys replied to lauri's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sorry to hear of your problems. Like Leatha said, you really need to go get checked out. We can let our imagination do lots of things to scare us, so it is best to get the testing done and quit worrying. Please keep us posted and let us know how you are doing. -
Well, that is great if they follow through like they are supposed to. I will definately watch my bill when I get it! Thanks for letting us know so we can watch out for it. At least you got a quick answer!

Wow, thanks for the warning. What a terrible thing to happen, especially right here at Christmas. I hope they credit your account right away! You are right, they should give you your book at no charge. Please keep us posted on what they do. You can email them too at the address I put on here, they did answer to me but it took a while. Hugs!
