I found this list on one of the other boards when I was doing all my research. DRUGS THAT CAN DAMAGE THE POUCH: Advil Aleve Amigesic Anacin Anaprox Ansald Anthra-G Arthropan Ascriptin Aspirin Asproject Azolid Bextra Bufferin Butazolidin Celebrex Clinorial Darvon compounds Disalcid Dolobid Erythromycin Equagesic Feldene Fiorinal Ibuprofen Indocin Ketoprofen Lodine Meclomen Midol Motrin Nalfon Naprosyn Nayer Orudis Oruval Pamprin-IB Percodan Ponstel Rexolate Tandearil Tetracycline Tolecin Uracel Vioxx Voltaren ALL "NSAIDS" (*see below for the Cox 2 Inhibitors) DRUGS THAT ARE CONSIDERED SAFE: Benadryl Tylenol Dimetapp Robitussin Safetussin Sudafed Triaminics (All) Tylenol (cold products) Tylenol Ex Strength Gas-X Phazyme Imodium Ad Colace Dulcolax-Suppositories Fleet Enema Glycerin-Suppositories Milk of Magnesia Peri-Colace Bextra is the newest, next generation of NSAIDS. It is simply an anti-inflammatory with no compound to aid in the protection of our GI systems. I want to help everyone understand the reason NSAIDS are dangerous for us. Contrary to popular belief, it is not just that they are "pouch burners" as the industry wants us to believe. It goes much deeper than that. According to an article published in the June 1999 New England Journal of Medicine, NSAIDS, once absorbed into the blood stream cause a chain of chemical reactions that affect the prostaglandins and this in turn reduces the production of mucus in the GI system. The mucus is what lines our GI system and protects our pouch and intestines from damage. If the mucus production is reduced, this would allow ANYTHING, including eating something with too sharp of an edge or foods that are extremely spicy, to inadvertently begin a marginal ulcer. The best answer is to avoid NSAIDS at all cost. Taking an H2 receptor drug such as Prilosec, Prevacid or Nexium is only a band-aid and no guarantee that it will protect you.

Becky - They also have a new vitamin out too, but it just doesn't have as much in it as the Flintstones do.
-
I am glad you are doing the liquids for a couple of days to heal up. Hopefully you will still be at your sweet spot when you start the protien.
-
Yes, I took both packages and compared them, and the Flintstone Complete has more minerals etc. in them. I sure wanted to do the other ones, I use the Viactiv for calcium and love them. I almost feel like I am cheating with a piece of candy. But, I'll keep my flintstones for the other vitamin.
-
I take the flintstone's too. My doctor recommended them, but I did compare them to the Gummy Bears and to the new Viactiv and the Flintstones Complete are far better with all the extra things in them.

Yes, the first few bowls were really good, and I love cabbage. I thought I had found the perfect diet! NOT!
-
Blossom - A lot of people can still guzzle water, but can't eat the hard protein very well. The real test is with the food and not the liquids. I have always been able to guzzle the water. I hope it goes well for you!
-
I'm glad you got it up!
-
It's not very expensive, approximately $3.00 to $4.00 for a box of it. I bought mine at Walmart and Krogers. They carry both brands you asked about.

Welcome to bandland!
-
Jodi - Why don't you start a new thread with your information. You will have more people answer you that way. Good Luck with your surgery, and let us know how you are when you are able to post.

I think we always think the worse when something like that happens, and we get to the point that we get worse by being so upset. Sometimes the only thing that helps is to go get checked out, at least we feel lots better afterwards.
-
I am writing off mine too! I love it!

That first meal tastes so good! Hope you have a great Dr. visit! -
Ryan - Hopefully they can find out what is wrong soon. I know how hard it is to care for someone and work too. Please take some time for yourself too, make sure you get some rest. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
-
I agree too, it really depends on where we go. I sometimes order a bowl of soup or something like that and just eat a little off my DH plate, then other times I order a whole meal, although most of the time I don't get to bring it home, DH eats it too!

How Much Liquid After Surgery???
Iluvharleys replied to Jammin & Losin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't pay attention to how much either, I just kept sipping all the time. -
Welcome to bandland! I'm glad you had such a good experience. Keep walking and sipping that water!
-
Congradulations Wade! Keep us posted on how things go.
-
Not much to mine either, I love my Harley, so went with Iluvharleys.
-
Whoooo Hoooo Leatha! Those are great NSV's! You are doing so good!
-
Nancy - I am so sorry, I know how much he meant to you. I know it was a very hard decision for you to make. All my animals were just like children to me, and so very precious, so I know how bad you are hurting right now. If you need someone to talk to, you know where I am. My thoughts are with you my friend. Hugs!

The one I hated was the cabbage soup diet. I even had my DH doing it! My house stunk so bad from that soup that we couldn't stand to walk in the back door after work! Anyone remember that one?
-
My doctors office gave me one, I haven't used it yet though.
-
Scotty - It sounds like you are doing really good. My doctor said no driving for 10 days, but I know some of the people on here said they didn't have any restrictions.
