I am very happy with my Doctor and all of his staff. I can contact them any time and they are prompt getting back with me. I total confidence in my Doctor. My Doctor is very up on everything, and when I ask a question he gives me a straight answer. I wouldn't change Doctors for anything!

Marleen you should be very proud, that is an amazing job you have done with your band. I too would love to hear some of your stories. Gram - I know some doctors cut people off at 64, but I also know some that are getting surgery in their 70's! I think that is super!

You sure got a lot of us! You chose a subject that we all dream of doing! Too Funny!

Congradulations! That sure sounds like a good job, I love the work schedule!

I have read where people have been rebanded if the erosion hasn't been bad, however if it was bad then they can never have a band again. There are several people on some of the other boards that had erosion and have been rebanded. Again, I have only read this about other people's experience with the band.

Tony - What a great post! Thank you! Everyone has said just about what I was going to say, so I will just add that it is true that almost everyone goes through a lot of emotions not only deciding to have the surgery but actually having the surgery too. I spent a couple of years fighting having WLS, always thinking I could do it myelf. I don't know why I thought that as everytime I would lose a lot of weight, I would only put it back on with more on top of it. If I had know how much better my life was going to be with the band, I certainly would have had the surgery sooner. You are the only one that can make the decision if the surgery is right for you, but you need to do it for yourself, and not for someone else. It is a big stip to take, and it isn't the easy way out, but it is a great way to help yourself if you are ready to take that step. Good Luck, and please let us know what you decide to do.

Welcome! We have several bansters that used Dr. Ortiz and have been very happy with him. It is a good idea to have a doctor here in the US for emergencies. How close do you live to Mexico? I love my band, and yes, I would do it again! It has been worth every penny of what I spent for it. Browse through some of the old and new posts and you will learn lots of valuable information.
