Good luck Tina! Keep us posted! -
Hi Joe! Welcome! There is a lot of information here just for reading. Good luck with your journey!
-
Scotty what you are feeling is normal. All of your swelling has gone away and you haven't gotten a fill yet, so you are wide open. It is almost like you haven't even had surgery yet. Yes, it is time for you to think about a fill if you are not losing weight. If you are still losing 1-2 pounds a week, then the band is still working for you. Most doctors give the first fill from 6 weeks or more. Good Luck!

Way to go Trish! You can do this! It will be here before you know it!

If you do a search on the Molding Clinic, there are several threads on that subject.

Awww sorry that you are so nervous, but you will do just fine. Like Kathy said, we all have those second thoughts, it is just normal. Good luck and please let us know what you decided to do. Hugs!

Our neighbor was at our house talking with my DH last night when I got home from work. When I got out of the car he said "Betty, you sure have lost a lot of weight, how much have you actually lost? I told him I had lost 56 pounds and he said "you are really looking good". I just wanted to give him a great big hug!

Thoughts and prayers going out.

I see two things that could have caused your problems, bread and potatoes. (and possibly pasta) Some bandsters can eat those, but the majority can't. I would try to eliminate those and see what happens. You might be too tight, but I would see what happens if you eat protien, and a veggie. Also when you pb, you need to go on liquids for at least 24 hours or you will keep having problems! Good luck!

I have heard some doctors put some saline in, but the majority don't. This is a time for healing not losing weight. You will be swollen for a while, then when the swelling goes down, you will know it because you will begin to get hungry. This is totally normal! Most doctors will not give you a fill for at least 6 weeks out, and it is because they want the band to seed in place and heal. That is why you are on liquids, then mushies, and then solids. Each doctor is different too, and that is why we always tell you to follow YOUR doctors rules! I hope this explains it enough! I also hope you are doing better!

Did NOT expect this response from my PCP!

What a great story! You really should stop in and let her see how you look! -
Please don't be upset by someone that doesn't know that much about the band. If you follow the rules, you will lose your weight. We have had several people in the last few months that have hit their goals or are real close to hitting it. I wouldn't trade my band for the RYN ever! You were on the wrong site, some are just for RYN and not bandsters. You will do just fine, please don't worry! I think we all have the fear that it won't work for us, but it does, it might take a little longer, but your skin will benefit from it too.

Did they even do the barium swallow test on you? That really is fast!

My doctor tells me each time how much he puts in, then the next time I am in there he pulls it out and tells me how much is in there. It has been perfect each time.

Did anyone have to get a Venae Cavae Filter?

Awww sorry to hear you are having so many problems. Just remember it is best to get things done and fixed before surgery. And, as I always say "Good things come to those who wait". Hugs to you and good luck with your testing. Please keep us posted! -
Rica - Remind me right before you come and if at all possible I will meet you! We sometimes ride our Harley's down there and if the weather is nice it might be a good time to head that way so we can meet you!

Walk, Walk, Walk, the more walking you do the better the gas gets! A heating pad will help too! I'm glad to hear you are feeling better! Hang in there!

Awwwww Penni - my heart goes out to you. My Mom had CHF and it seems like we lived at the hospital at times. It is really tough, but you will be glad you were always there to help her. Those are memories I have in my heart forever. I am sending prayers for you and her and hopefully you will get some time to rest up. Remember to take care of yourself too!
