I finally got sleeved 6/28 with Dr. Cavazos in San Antonio, TX. I started my pre-op diet at 417. Prior to surgery I had to do a 10 day shake diet. I cheated a couple of days but the doctor said it still managed to do a good job shrinking my liver. 2 days prior to surgery I went on clear liquids. I've continued to be on liquids the past 9 days since I got out of surgery. Clear liquids being water, broth, sf jello and sf popsicles. I discovered the popsicles have an unfortunate 4 carbs each in them so I have been avoiding them. So in total I've not had any food in about 19 days. SO I'm hungry! I don't know about others but whatever stomach got left behind IS hungry. It's not the insane hunger that it used to be but it's definitely there. I'm going to assume that is normal. Yesterday I broke down and ate some creamed soup even though I'm supposed to stay on clear liquids one more day but my stomach took it just fine and it was amazing! Tomorrow I go to post op and will be moved to semi solid foods. Wow I can't wait! I have so far lost 21 lbs total and I am under 400! So things are looking up:)

8 hour of surgery?! Wow that was rough. I'm so glad you came out and are doing so well. Walking 1-2 miles a day already is amazing!! Congrats!! -

Awesome!! You are doing so great!!! -
How do you get in any protein at all on clear liquids? I'm on them as well until Thursday and as far as I know I'm not supposed to worry about protein until I can get to something that has protein in it! Boy I can't wait!

Great job and a great inspiration! You have attacked this holistically it sounds like to me using it as a tool but still being diligent about your food and also incorporating in a serious workout regimen. Thanks for laying it out there for us. I'm so impressed! -

5 days post op and gained 3 pounds??
300PoundsDown posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone. I had my surgery 6/28. Just got home from the hospital yesterday. So far I haven't been able to do anything but get down water and some broth. But when I weighed myself this morning I actually gained 3 pounds from the day of surgery! Is this normal? -
Sorry for tmi. Had surgery yesterday and could not pee so they put in catheter. Took it out this morning and still can't go. Help?

Hi everyone,My name is Holly and I'm going to be having my surgery on June 28th. I am very thrilled about this and I am so thankful to God for allowing this to happen. My grandmother has blessed me with the money to pay for this surgery as my insurance would not approve it. I'm 400 pounds plus a few so I'm definitely going to be relying on faith, God, and encouragement from others to get me going in the right direction. My good friend had this surgery 2 years ago ( was bigger than me) and has currently lost 250 lbs. He was cured of lung disease (which is a miracle since they say it's incurable), diabetes, CPAP etc. He has been an inspiration and mentor to me. I really hope to get to know others through this process. I also wanted to let everyone know that my church (Community Bible Church in San Antonio, TX) has ONLINE Bible studies. They have 3 pastors with 3 different messages also being put out through the online church website 24 hours a day. This has been a blessing to me as I've gotten so big that I get exhausted trying to go places. I'm also a single mom to 4 kids and at times I don't get to a physical church. So just wanted to let everyone know about it and I will post links for you. Someone just tell me if I'm not allowed to post links. This week we have all new Bible studies starting online. You can join at any time for free just by clicking the link into the class. In fact, I am going to be attending the "Made to Crave" Bible study myself starting this Friday @ 10 Am but there are other times. Made to Crave is looking to be a great Bible Study for those trying to lose weight with faith! We watch the video and then have chat! In addition to that Bible Study, I am going to be leading an online Bible study starting tomorrow @ 10 am on Joy. I lost my mother (my best friend) on New Years Eve and it's been extremely hard. Not to mention being a single mom. But I know we all have struggles so learning more about the joy God provides is something I want to do. Here is the link for the schedule http://live.mediasoc...v/cbclifegroups I am also a moderator at the online church services which go on 24 hours a day with chats at certain times. http://live.mediasocial.tv/cbc Feel free to say hi to me, add me on FB (just tell me you're from this site), and check out my blog. If you have a blog, let me know as I'd love to follow you too So thankful to meet you all!

I'm thinking of joining this gym. I hate working out but this gym looks like something I could deal with. Has anyone experienced it or have opinions? Thanks!

Need some good come back tips for the neg. people
300PoundsDown replied to Was a humpty dumpty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm the opposite. I've told everybody!! lol...But I'll admit there are people that are negative. I was shocked that someone called me just the other day to tell me nothing but horror stories of others who did not fare well. I really think people's reactions reveal a lot about them. Of course people will be concerned for your safety going through the surgery but there is a line some cross with the negativity which makes you wonder why they have such an issue. I basically make a mental note of who those people are and keep moving. -

A candle warmer? I never would have thought of that!! -
Have you called your surgeon? Maybe you should go into the hospital until they can get you rehydrated. I'm really thinking of you.

I'm on a 10 day pre-op diet. An Atkins shake every 2 hours. Between 6-8 a day. Water of course. This is day 3. It sucks a lot. I've lost 6 lbs but I'm really hungry and now I'm having diarrhea. Gotta keep my eye on the prize

Wow I just posted about this. We are doing an online Made to Crave Bible Study through my church . Totally free and starting this week. I hope you can come! http://live.mediasocial.tv/cbclifegroups

Pre-op diet started today
300PoundsDown replied to juzmejnee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've decided to follow my good friend's pre op plan who had surgery 2 years ago and has since lost 250 lbs. For some reason, my surgeon doesn't require it but I'm going to do it anyway b/c I need every advantage as I am at 400 lbs if not slightly over. My pre op diet will consist of 8 Atkins advantage shakes per day spaced out every 2 hours. I will also start drinking water which up until now I don't do. I live from soda. So today is a new day for me!! -
ANY JUNE SLEEVERS OUT THERE???

I'm having it on June 28th with Dr. Cavazos in San Antonio. He has not given me any specific diet other than 2 days prior. I still want to go on one as I have a lot of weight to lose. Any suggestions? -
how long will i need help with my kids?
300PoundsDown replied to valentine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have 4 kids and have family coming to stay with me for a week. They are taking most of the kids back with them to spend a month with family at the beach. My oldest who is 15 will be staying with me. I'm assuming that will be all I need in the way of help. With your kids being younger, you might want to plan for 2-3 weeks if possible. That's just to avoid having to pick up the little ones. I sure do remember those days! -
