I just hit the jackpot!
300PoundsDown replied to HDubSleevery's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What are they?? -
Anyone using these? They have only 4 carbs and 20 protein grams only 1 sugar
-
A million times YES!!! They are literally the ONLY dvd workouts that I can do. She has a million of them out there so you will never get bored. I personally prefer the Walk away with the Pounds ones but she has a ton of others. She even has two 10 minute ones on youtube for free ( or she used to). I started out doing 30 seconds. That was it. Then the next day I did 30 more seconds. And I kept adding 30 seconds a day until I finally made it all the way through the 20 minute 1 mile walk. I am only 2 months out from my surgery and I now do the 1 mile walk every day. It didn't take too long to build up. I'm a huge Leslie fan!

Counting Sugar grams instead of Carbs?
300PoundsDown replied to SKCUNNINGHAM's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I count both. I don't go over 30 grams of carbs in a day. I don't drink/eat anything that has more than 4 gms of sugar in it. -
At 3 weeks I also hit a plateau which also lasted for almost 3 weeks. Weird!

Is there a Youtube Vlog community for VSG?
300PoundsDown posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been watching vlogs on youtube for those who had the sleeve (or other surgeries). I wondered if there is some kind of official group etc. for this or is it just individuals. A few years ago I was part of a group called Gut2cut which was just a weight loss community on youtube. People would join the group and upload their videos to the group. That way people could find each other. Is there something similar or does everyone just upload and tag their videos with vsg and eventually people find each other? Thanks! -
I ate chips and half a bagel. I'm worried!
300PoundsDown replied to 300PoundsDown's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you for telling me this. I have a deep fear that I am going to be the one person whose body will somehow reject the surgery defying all scientific logic. That somehow it just won't work. I have been convincing myself of this ever since I ate this crap and realized I could physically do it. The past week has been depressing with me not even wanting to go exercise or do anything b/c I'm somehow convinced now that I've ruined all my chances. I really appreciate you telling me that about the sleeve of saltine crackers. I need to know I'm not some freak of nature but that this can happen to other people too. And it was my crappy decision but continuing to act depressed about it is not helping me. And now I need to just move on and get back on the track. Thanks for talking me off the ledge! -
Does your sleeve get tighter or looser depending on what you eat?
300PoundsDown posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just watched a youtube video of a lady who said that she didn't eat very much over the weekend and as a result of that her sleeve tightened up so much that she could barely eat or drink anything at all for a few days until it loosened back up. Anyone ever heard of this? I have found that there are times when I feel like my sleeve is tight and other times where I feel that I can eat a lot. -
I'm getting worried...
300PoundsDown replied to Neoteric Verve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think this is a fear many people have. There really isn't much you can do about that fear except for to let her work it out on her own. In time, she will see that her fears are unfounded. I would imagine it is very difficult not to have her full support but if her fear is of losing you then I guess that is a compliment! -
I know everyone says you don't change on the inside after weight loss but I think it depends on the person and how much your weight has affected you on an emotional and psychological level. Some people have not been very affected by it but others have built up defense mechanisms because of it. I have been extremely overweight for many years and I believe that much of my overeating is grounded in emotional/psychological issues which I am working on changing along with the surgery. For me, this is a process of changing who I am both inside and outside. I do believe that I will be the same person at my core but a lot of things about me are changing and will continue to. I don't think that is a bad thing. Change can be good. However, I think someone who knows me next year this time will know a slightly different person that the one I am today. As far as dating goes, I believe you can take that day by day. You really have no idea if any of your fears will come true regarding whether the relationship will affect you negatively. If it does, then break it off. But it's hard to anticipate what will happen before it has happened!

Is Isopure the only zero carb protein powder?
300PoundsDown posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I want to find one with zero carbs but not sure if there are any other than this one. -
I was told to take the B12 sublingual pill once a week. I took it for the first time today and it took about 10 full minutes for it to melt. Is that right? I also noticed that the directions on the bottle said daily but I was told once a week. What are others doing?

Feel like crap - Need to vent...
300PoundsDown replied to 2BSkinny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had gall stones back in 98. It was one of the single worst things EVER. So incredibly painful. Mine went misdiagnosed for 18 months. Don't ask me how no one figured it out. They did every test in the world except the ultrasound. We were on a military base at the time. When we got moved to the next base, they immediately diagnosed it AND they sent a letter back reprimanding the doctor who didn't correctly diagnose it b/c evidently it was classic case. Anyway, I lived with that pain and it was gut wrenching and awful. I had stress for awhile afterwards every time I got a stomach ache for fear it was coming back even though my gb was out. I am glad you got it taken care of and I am SHOCKED your surgeon didn't take it out at the same time. GRRRR -
Pain in right ear and right side of throat
300PoundsDown posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This has been going on a few days. Anyone know why? My regular doctor said my throat looks fine. I have been having some issues with acid reflux which so far has been untreated. Do you think this could be the cause? -
Doctor never heard of the Sleeve
300PoundsDown replied to Fusilli66's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's not his speciality to know about the variety of bariatric surgeries so it wouldn't bother me. I agree the "sleeve" may be a casual term and not the medical term as I've had same issue. -
Are you not considering the fact that you could get a job somewhere else where the health insurance would cover it?

I just wanted to let everyone know there is hope if you're in a stall. I am only about 6 weeks out so I'm early but I did suffer through an almost 3 week stall. Which means the majority of my weight loss thus far has been from pre-op diet and first 3 weeks after surgery. I was losing 1 lb a day and then I lost NOTHING for 3 straight weeks. It was driving me insane b/c I am not getting to eat my favorite foods, when I do eat it's a few bites and yet no movement on the scale at all. Very frustrating and depressing. I'm walking and I'm following the rules. Then every morning...nothing. In fact I even went up 2 lbs and then down and then up and then down. The same 2 lbs! Well finally this week the scale decided to move again. I'm back to losing 1 lb a day. Crazy, right? I have done NOTHING different. Same thing, same level of exercise. So now I must remember the next time I stall to just chill out. Everyone told me to wait it out but a part of me believed that my body was going to defy all scientific logic!

I eat deviled eggs. I buy the preboiled eggs in a bag. Then I take out 1 egg, dump the yellow part, mix it with a little mayo and a little relish, fill it back in the egg and eat it! It really is a treat!

What has been the most shocking comment about the sleeve at any stage (pre-op, post-op) or about your weight loss?
300PoundsDown replied to Becca's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a feeling this thread isn't going anywhere as the rude comments just roll on in!! People are so presumptious about your weight. It's somehow up for public discussion. It still baffles me that people actually believe they have the right to make a comment on it. I totally agree with a previous poster above who said that not only do some people believe they have the right to comment on your weight; they also believe they have the right to determine HOW you should go about losing it. Ultimately, there has to be something really emotionally wrong with any person who gets too riled up about an issue that ultimately has nothing to do with them. I've actually been extremely open about the fact that I was having this surgery. I don't know why but I just decided from the start that I would be. I even post about it on my FB and I've been pretty lucky that most everyone has been supportive. If I end up getting some flack, it will be my own fault for publicizing it. I did have someone comment to me that "it's nice and all" that I'll lose weight but "in the end it won't really matter" because I'll have a bunch of sagging skin. Then this person went on to tell me about a co worker who has sagging skin and how it's "Just as unsightly" as being overweight. I love how some people feel they have a free pass to insult people based on their weight. -
So here's something stupid I did the other day. I had surgery exactly a month ago and decided to take my daughter to Sea World. I thought I would be ok b/c there are plenty of benches and some air conditioned places to sit in. I don't know what I was thinking b/c just now I can barely get around the block. However I've been sitting on 380 for 3 weeks and it's been driving me insane. I thought maybe if I got a really good bit of walking in I could break my stall. Well I did break my stall (2 pounds gone for the first time in 3 weeks) but I almost killed myself in the process. By the time we were leaving my heart was racing so fast i thought I was going to have a heart attack. I had to sit down on a bench by the entrance and then I got really scared. I could not breathe at all. I was so hot and I had allowed myself to get dehydrated. Even though I drank water all day long, I still got dehydrated. I think the problem is that I cannot gulp water down. I can only drink sips of it at a time and it takes a looong time to get water in. I think this was the biggest problem. So there I am about to keel over. They had to get the EMT's, give me oxygen etc. It was very scary. I'm psyched that I broke my stall BUT killing myself in the process wasn't worth it. How do you keep yourselves from getting dehydrated outside when you can only sip water?

Little to some, BIG DEAL to me
300PoundsDown replied to Bryn Dawson's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Amazing!! Trust me, I understand. I really do. When you get to a really high weight, you lose the ability to do so many basic things. Just walking in the grocery store at all is a big deal. I am so excited for you!!!!! -
Ladies, I need your help

Not 1 pound lost since surgery! Its been a week?
300PoundsDown replied to Janese58's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YES!!! Don't worry. They blow you up like a balloon with air and your body swells up on the inside too. Your body is going through shock. I had the same issue. Then I lost 30 lbs and then I lost nothing for 2.5 weeks again. Just follow the rules and forget about the scale. In fact, I'm thinking of throwing mine off the roof! -
Week 5. How many calories should I be eating daily?
300PoundsDown posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am getting ready to start week 6. I began at 417. I initially was losing 1 pound a day or more. I have been stuck at 380-382 for almost 3 weeks. I basically stopped losing weight after 3 weeks. I am tired of hearing it's just a stall. It's been 3 weeks!! I need someone to tell me what amount of calories I should be getting in.
