5 months post-op and my thoughts
ebayfanatic replied to InternetAngel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sleeve was 3/22/2010 and I have lost 37 lbs to date. I am not worried about rapid weight loss as it causes hair loss!!!!. So the slower the better. I am with Tiffikins. Eat the protein first. I find I don't have room for much else. Being that I am only at 7 weeks, I think I have done really well. My son came home frm college nad told me he thought I looked thinner. Getting a compliment from him is rare so I loved it! Guess I shouldn't be giving advise to a 5 monther! I know sometimes I weigh the same for 4 days then all of a sudden a couple lbs drop off. Hang in there! -
Dreaded stall at 3 wks out
ebayfanatic replied to tia_1417's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well ladies I am at 2 weeks post op and have stalled. Lost 22 lbs the first 9 days and then gained a lb back and now at 277 3 days in a row. I am on a soft diet following every direction to a tea. It is very frustrating. One day I lost 3 lbs and the next day gained back 2. I cannot see how eating as little as I am (protein only) I could not possibly lose weight. Good thing is maybe I won't have to worry about hair loss due to rapid weight loss as I am not losing weight rapidly. I am going to start exercising this coming week so maybe that will help. I HATE TO EXERCISE! -
My surgeon said I should expect hair loss or thinning during rapid weight loss. Has anyone experienced this? :scared0:

Thought I would send an update. Surgery went well well on Monday. Got out of the hospital around 4 on Tuesday after NO sleep. I swear don't ever check into a hospital for exhaustion as you get NO rest. Every hour someone waking you up to check you, make you pee or stick you for blood. Got home Tuesday at 4 and went back to ER at 10:30 PM after fever spiked to 101.5 and pain!!!!! Was at ER from 11-3:30 in the morning getting IV antibiotics and again no sleep. Weds pretty much slept all day except when trying to drink 64 ounces of fluids. Today after sleeping 11 hours last night I feel much better. Would I do this again? At this point no way! But I did get on the scale today and have lost 14 lbs. Probably that big old stomach they cut out and removed from me! I asked how much it weighed. The doctor laughed and said he didn't weigh it but it may be in the pathology report. Yea along with comments like Holy cow look at this gi-normous thing! Seriously I think the end results are going to be good and I would do it again. Just hard getting back to human.

Tomorrow is surgery day. Taking my before picture today. Hopefully my last Fat pix! Started liquid diet yesterday. Already sick of it and I have to drink the exact same things for 7 days! Hopefully though after surgery I won't be craving all the old stuff. Ordered vitamins yesterday. I have to take numerous vitamins. Is that the same for everyone else? Mulit vitamin, b-12, calcium, and combplex B. Got all chewable. Once I get to where I can swallow pills I am hoping they are cheaper. 60.00 a month! Listen to me complain! I am really grateful to be having this surgery and extending my life. You guys are a great resource. Glad Ifound this website. WIll report back after surgery. Wish me luck!

I am having my surgery on Monday 3/22/10. I weigh 291 but have been doing my darnest to make it an even 300 so it will be easier to calc my weight loss! Ha just an excuse to eat these last few days. I have been on what I call my farwell restaurant tour. Liquid diet starts Friday! I just found this sight and will hopefully be able to get some good advice as I start on my weighloss journey!
