    October Surgeries!!

Been a long journey ,feel very prepared. Started this process in Dec. 09. Going to Pacific Bariatrics in San Diego to have my sleeve on Oct.6th with Dr. Taller. Super excited. Looking forward to being on the other side! Good luck all October dates!
  2. Hi Jennifer- not sure if I ever replied to you(still figuring out how this site works). Definitely good reconnecting with our Options group. Going tomorrow to Anaheim for Pacific Bariatrics seminar. Hoping this will get the ball rolling faster. How is the process coming for you?

  3. I went to the support group that meets the 2nd Monday of the month in Pasadena. It is free, mostly post-ops of the Roux-N-Y. Gained good knowledge. One other gal is having the sleeve, and she is also going to Pac.Bar. in SD. Over all good experience, I will go back. Everyone said this is the best thing they ever did.:thumbup1:

  5. Hi Jennifer- glad to find you and Kristen. Was feeling a bit lost. I was real proactive today and going to surgery in San Diego. Will get it there faster than anywhere else I am pretty sure. I had met with a surgeon at Kaiser WLA, but did not care for him. Utilize Wenda all you can, she is amazing. Anyway gotta have a chest x-ray and a gallbladder ultrsound and consult and finally surgery. I was ready 6 months ago. LOL Where are you in the process. Here is my email and phone # if you ever wanna talk.

Hey ladies- Well, I was very proactive today. Had my procedures(Upper and Lower GI) and everything looks good. So I called Wenda and changed everything. I am now having my surgery at Pacific Bariatric in SD. Next Thursday going to the mandatory seminar in Anaheim, and getting this ball rolling. I want nothing to do with Kaiser WLA. Thanks all for all the info on Pacific Bariatric. Looks like I will need to do 3 trips total. Its all good to get sleeved sooner than later.

Mine is the same co pay as yours. $200.00 in hospital stay, office visits are $30.00. How will you get to San Diego? If you go there how long there for? Where will who ever drives you stay? These are the out of pocket expenses I am concerned about. I was hoping to get billed for these and make payments actually. I have before. So, SD Bariatric has local or somewhat local mandatory seminars to attend? I am off to bed, got my procedures early in the a.m. Glad I found you here. Was Kinda feeling lost... :blushing:

It all comes down to me having Crohn's Disease. If it were such a freakin problem- why was I even allowed in the program. I left the surgeons office feeling very defeated and hopeless. But like I said I am taking the power back. Thanks for the 411 on Kaiser LA @ Cadillac. I believe that there are 4 surgeons who perform that surgery there. A referral for Harbor City is being put in. Gonna call Wenda tomorrow. I would do San DIego, but I have no $$ to do that. Feeling frustrated.....

Hey girls- Joan here- another from the Options classes that ended 7/8. Read alot of your posts gals. I have met with the surgeon in WLA. Was not a good experience at all. Left balling my eyes out. BUT I did lots homework on the various support sites I frequent since then and I am taking the power back. Found out that the dr. is not accurate i what he told me. Has to do with my Crohn's. Really do not want to get my surgery with Dr Kayak any longer. Having to have Upper GI and Colonoscopy for my Crohn's Disease tomorrow, but after that lets roll. Time is of the essence for me. Good luck ladies. Keep me posted.
  10. Nayna- Your words and experience as a Crohn's sleever are heaven sent to me. The surgeon I am dealing with here in So Cal Kaiser was telling me that all the sleevers that also have Crohn's disease have gotten sick, and for long periods, and that I would be sick forever. I asked him for statistics, and documention. He could not provide, and the fact that he said forever sick is crazy. The VSG has only been around since 2002. I made it my mission to find sleevers like you that are success stories. Thank you so much. I am in remission with my CR. I do get an infusion of Remecade every 6 weeks tho. Have had this disease for over 20 years, and this last 6 years have been pretty darn good. I have a little over 100 lbs to lose. I am beyond ready, doing prep for a upper GI and Colonocsopy today (drinking the gallon on Colyte) and having the procedures tomorrow. Then I will be moving forward to get a new dr. and sleeved soon- I hope. Will post updates. :confused1:
  11. Did you get the sleeve anf how are you doing? I have Crohn's Disease too, and my surgeon is being an a$$ about giving me the sleeve.
