Feeling betrayed and ANGRY. Advice?
cwalker replied to Skinnyagain's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good Luck with your surgery, you will be so successful with your tool, It's hard when you can't have a loving relationship with your inlaws. It's a constant upheaval. You sound like a sweet nice person that has tolerated too much. Hubby won't know what hit him when his beautiful wife tranforms, he wont havet time for meeting with Dad, he will want to be with you instead. -
What do you need to have before coming home?
cwalker replied to Can'tweight's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Remember you won't be able to drive for a few days, I went thu 2 boxes of popsicles.lol -I made my own broth with bony pieces of chicken (more flavorful) carrots, celery, onion. Bake it in the oven slowly then take out add Water or sodium free broth and simmer. It has way more flovor than store bought. I froze it in 2 oz containers. I also got some Japaenese onion soup (strained) and froze it. SF crystal light popsicles, jello, sf alpine cider drink mix was soothing, fruit 2o and propel. I was on clears for 8 days then mushies for 21. Remember these clears are unlimited and the fluids will help you, you can even add unflav whey Protein to broth for a little more energy. You are going to do great!! My cousin is having sleeve on March 21st, so I going to make her broth. I didn't try it but my daughters MIL made roast broth on the stove top, she said it was good. Good Luck!!!!!!! -
VITAMINS VITAMINS VITAMINS
cwalker replied to Jinjin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Who told you to take the vitamins? My surgeon did bloodwork before surgery and my levels were ok, he said just keep on my 1 a day multi. If your surgeon told you to do it then by all means but your bloodwork should tell if you need more. Maybe some vetrans will chime in. -

How long did it take for you to be approved?
cwalker replied to Melissal's topic in Insurance & Financing
I was asked to give it two weeks after submission but at eight or nine days I caved and called snd it was approved. I went to my surgeons seminar on Feb 28th and had surgery April 29th BUT I already had my 6 months supervised diet done so that helped. Good Luck! -
I weighed 250 and i don't need a tummy tuck, you need to wait a year so your skin will shribk, give it a chance and I've had 2 c-sections and a abdominal hysterectomy, this surgery was a walk in the park compared to those. Yes it's scary but if you don't take control of your health you and your family will both suffer. I was scared but it was sooo worth it.

I met a 4-year sleever today
cwalker replied to DougNichols's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think we must always be accountable for what we put in our mouth no matter if you are at goal or not. You don't have to be a slave to your sleeve but making poor choices for a long period of time will eventually come back and bite you. It's easier to snack more or graze for me at 9 months out but this post scared the heck outta me too, No more grazing! -
OMG!!!!!! INSTANT APPROVAL

*7* Truths Post-Op
cwalker replied to BZButterfly79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really enjoyed these so I'm adding mine. 1. I freeze all the time,I am actually looking forward to summer in Texas. 2. My tastes have changed completely. I love vegetables now and was meat-potatoes girl before. I also eat eggs alot. 3. I have so much more energy. 4.I love clothes shopping but find myself still looking at the smaller clothes and thinking they won't fit...but they do 5.I love exercise now. hated it before 6.I still love to cook for my family but I prefer to eat healthy and will have to work on bringing them over to the lighter side ,7.Had hair, lost alot of hair but it's coming back and was so worth it. 8. I love going to places with my husband and not feeling self conscious about my weight. 9. I have already bought 3 swimsuits -just in the last month.lol 10. I love the feeling of self worth I have, of finally getting the weight off, being a success and kicking the fat to the curb especially after a lifelong struggle of diets. 12. I was a Dr. Pepper addict, can't stand the stuff now. Love my Water tho. 13. 5 lbs to go but not worried about it. 14. love bbq pork rinds and almonds as Snacks, haven't had a hamburger in 10 months and don't want one! -
Difficulty drinking, eating, etc. following surgery
cwalker replied to pam27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1.I have never thrown up, have no issues keeping water down.2. I can drink 3 1/2 oz in one swig, swallowing several times3..I ate at Red Lobster today.4. I can eat 3 oz of lean meat and 2 /tablespoons of veggies @ 9 months out. 5.I know of several poster who drink wine occasionally, probly want to wait a few months at least and be careful not to drink your calories away. You will mourn the loss of big yummy dinners but you are getting healthy and it is sooo worth it. -
5 days post op - AND HUNGRY!!!!!!!!
cwalker replied to newmefeb8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like head-hunger. Are you on a PPI? That will help with the hunger feeling. Try adding unflavored whey protein to broth or anything you can,and it'll help you recover quicker. It takes 2 weeks for the swelling to go away, or it did for me. Hang in there, don't jeopardize your staple line. You can do this!! -
Yeah, i read that too...the hormones are crazy because you are in ketosis. My problem is just the opposite, i freeze.lol

future stomach problems
cwalker replied to groovearmada's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That was my only fear of vsg but as the Dr. said..how is that big old stomach helping you? I was going downhill and nothing else had worked, and at 53 I was tired of trying and failing. I think I read where they can make a stomach out of other tissue, don't know if this is true or not but I do know I have no regrets. -
Wow you are doing great, keep on rockin that sleeve!

Day of surg and acouple days after
cwalker replied to to be me and free's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well alot of what to expect depends on your surgeon and how he believes aftercare should be. You have to remember we all have different pain levels but in my opinion and based on my surgery, you will wake up after you get to your room. you'll have soreness like you did alot of exercises..like maybe a 500 situps. You will walk within 4 hrs and be given Clear Liquids.I did use the pain meds the first 12 hrs. I slept alot, walked alot and sipped alot, 24 hrs after surgery I was released to come home. I rode 2 hrs to get home and was tired but by the 2nd day home I showered dressed and went to Walmart with hubby. I tried to drink 2 oz eery 15 minutes usually room temp or lukewarm felt better than icy cold. Good Luck and what a nice Valentine! Let us know your doing ok. -
I was told to take zinc with the biotin, but I did lose alot of hair starting @ 2 months out. I was told if you got your protein in it wouldn't come out but that was wrong. I lost 1/4 of the volume and it lasted 4 months. It didn't come out n clumps just thinned out. It was worth it! Good Luck~

I'll be 10 months out on the 29th of Feb. It's a amazing tool that can change your life! ZERO regrets, Come join us on the losers side!

I had a Adkins recipe I found and scaled it down. Take 4 boneless chicken tenders, sprinkle Hidden valley ranch dip mix on them and layer a slice of turkey bacon on top. cover with foil and bake maybe 15 minutes. Remove foil and top with grated cheddar (low fat). It helps the taste alot. This is modified so I didnt post stats. You can google Adkins recipes to get it. I can't eat it all in one day but it reheats good. There also was one using Taco seasoning. I can't handle the dry grilled chicken now either and my other tastes have changed too.lol. Hope it helps.
