SLEEVE GASTRECTOMY WITH EVERYTHING ELSE WRONG WITH ME!
cwalker replied to ursieursie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You have to be pro active with your health care and if you do nothing..you will die so do this for yourself, You need to address the eating disorders mentally but the daibetes and arthritis will only improve or disapear. I'm 53 yrs old with rhuematoid arthritis and this surgery has been a lifesaver, adding years to my life and LIFE to my years. It is a wonderful tool and used right you will suceed!! I had 3 previous surgeries so it was not a painful surgery for me, don't be afraid!!!! Good Luck, Welcome to the forum and keep us posted!!! HUGS!!!!! -

Has anyone actually failed at this?
cwalker replied to debgwoody's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll do fine as long as you follow the guidelines beginning immediately after surgery, the rules are there to guide and help you, it is a learn as you go on some issues as we are all different, mine was I had to learn to love being more active and accept this is a lifelong commitment, all our diets vary but we are here for each other to share the ups and downs. It's a amzing tool and it works great!!!! -
when can I drive again
cwalker replied to cherrybell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Book a room from hospital and call a taxi or hotel shuttle, you probably need 3 days before you drive and you might need to stop half way and stay in another hotel. -
My cousin got sleeved on 03/21/2011 and she has a hard time too, I hope all goes well and please let us know you're ok. I know you are tired but keep trying to get liquids in,saying prayers, you have us to talk to. Hugs!!

How did you decide on your goal weight?
cwalker replied to Amanda131's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My goal is a healthy BMI and I am overweight accoring to the charts but I was a size 12 in High School and early 20's so I'm very comfortable at this weight and size, plus my PCP agrees with me. I am 11 months out and trying to maintain is harder than I thought. -

MY SURGEON DOES MUSHIES FROM DAY 8 THRU DAY 30 SO WE EAT SOFT SCRAMBLED eggs, PINTOS WITH cheese AND AVOCADO FROM TACO BELL, TUNA salad WITH RELISH BUT NO PICKLES AND COTTAGE CHEESE MIXED WITH ANY SF ISTANT OUDDING IS YUMMY, MASHED POTATOES, MASHED SWEET POTATOES,EGG SALAD ARE JUST A FEW. GOOD LUCK WITH THE SLEEPING ISSUE. CONGRATS ON THE SLEEVE. -

Excited - but still have 5 months to wait :(
cwalker replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It'll pass faster than you think, I had to do 6 months but my dr accepted a previous month as a starting point, would tha work for you? My cousin just had sleeve on 3/21 and she purchased a insurance thru the droctor office to cover complications it was 1200.00 and covered any dr anywhere...just saying it does exist if you are leaning toward self pay. She pd 12,200.00 and tht included EVERYTHING! Good Luck you'll love this forum. Eyeryone is super supportive!! -

I have the flu! Help!
cwalker replied to pattimomof3nj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be fine at 5 1/2 months out, are you sure it's the flu? Would Tamiflu help? Hope you feel better soo!! -
I have had a sleeve 11 months and had zero issues post op, but my cousin got hers 3 days ago and has started running a temp of 99.7. She has no other symptons of a leak but still it's worrisome since we are 2 hrs away from the surgeon. Did anyone else run temp for no reason? I have her here with me since surgery...now just worrying.
