You're not alone, we are here for you!! The sleeve is a wonderful tool and it does help that it is easier to recover from. My daughter had the RNY 7 months before I had the sleeve. She has done well but has had a couple of faining episodes, UTI's and ulcer like symptons. The RNY wasn't for me because I wanted a functioning stomach tho it is a small one Your SO needs to realize you have health needs and support you and your girls sound wonderful! WLS doesen't always brin out the best in friendships, don't let it get to you, do this for yourself and then they'll come around r not but either way you'll be a happier, healthier you!

I made my own too and also used egg drop suop strained. I used alot actually close to 20 oz a day along with sf pops and special k Protein Water.I didnt have any problem getting in liquids and loved the unflavored whey in the broth too!!

I agree with Becca, it's up to your surgeon. Just talk to him about it.

The guy must be a idot!! Of course being obese makes you feel unhappy, unsociable with self esteem issues or it did me. My pysch eval was to see if I could follow the program not dissect my life. RUN to a second opinion..but research or get your surgeon to refer you to one he works with. Hugs! -
Help! I have a daughter that just doesn't get it!
cwalker replied to time-4-change's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just tell her you're only going to say this once. It's your decision and you need her love and support and if she can't be there for you then you will still love her but you will be saddened by the lack of emotional support. Whatever happens you have us! -
Middle of week 2 after surgery. If I eat mashed potatoes (etc.) now, what's the worst that could happen?
cwalker replied to liquids_blow's topic in Food and Nutrition
That's great, you might try some baby food, heard from others it was good too! You'd have the flavor with the pureed.lol -
I too had zero issues and was up ad going by the 5th day and at 12 months out it has been an amazing ride. You are losing so you know the sleeve is working. I can eat more now but I try not to, I eat until I'm satisfied then have a snak. Don't worry...you are obiviously following the plan or you wouldnt have the amazing weight loss. I will never be like the forum posters that have to eat to keep from losing too much but it's ok I'm happy, healthier and it keeps me on my toes You are doing great!!!!!

My surgeon does clears 7 days then mushies 21. My cousin had her vsg on 3/21/22 and she is eating tuna salad, egg salad, cottage cheese at 20 days out today. She is doing fine. Thin mashed potatoes should be fine. That being said Please be careful!!! Are you 10 days out? -
Good luck Kelli and beadingnurse!!

I told only a couple of people before. I called the rest of my family a couple of weeks later and my bf on the way home from hospital. I ahd my husbands and daugters support. DONT let them get to you, it is your life! Hugs! -
It depends on the patient according to my surgeon. My cousin had to have one as she tested positive for H-pylori twice. I didnt have the bacteria so didn have to have it and we used the same surgeon. Threre are some sugeons that may do it as a precaution so there is no suprizes on day of surgery.

58 years too old for VSG?
cwalker replied to graymadebbie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
NO!!!!! You're not too old,it's funny I posted this same question probably 14 months ago. I'm 53(soon to be 54) and am a year out. I had high bp and rhuematoid arthritis and I did fine, my 61 yr old cousin had it 3 weeks ago and is 21 lbs down and doing great other than a little soreness in the incison where they removed the stomach. The quality of life is better so why not be a healthier, slimmer 58? -
Post-op Chest or esophagus tightening...PAIN
cwalker replied to lady lisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We were told it could be esophagus spasms, try warm drinks or icy, for some reason seemed to soothe the spasms. I preferred warm and my cousin loved popsicles. -
I love my sleeve but my daughter has done really well with RNY. I'm so sorry you had to go thru this and hope things get better and they find a way to revise you to sleeve.

Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
cwalker replied to boredswfl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hello, my name is Carla. My surgeon was Dr. Robert Marvin in Houston Tx. My surgery was at The Methodist Hospital in Houston where I stayed 1 night, it is a clean hospital with caring nurses. I highly recommend my surgeon www.doctormarvin.com -
You are doing great!!

Thank goodness you went on in to ER. Hope you feel better soon and sending prayers and healing thoughts your way!
-
You can do this, you still have the tool that helped you lose 100+ pounds. I'm going to join you in trying to get back to 3 meals and no grazing!!! We can do this!

It is a great place to learn and almost like a family too.

You're still in the honeymoon phase and have wonderful restriction that does make it hard to get the Protein in. Keep a log of your daily protein and keep trying, even tho mushies can be a little boring or they were for me. There are some great recipes on here. Personally I lived on tuna, chicken salad, scrambleds eggs and cottage cheese flovored with sf instant puddings.. The protein and Water are the MOST important thing,do your best. The weight will come off, your body is in shock wondering what the heck happened and even when the lbs didnt come off as fast as I thought they should the inches fell off. Hang in there, it is a amazing tool and before you know it you'll love your tiny tummy!! My daughter has RNY and has had a few problems with it, fainting, underweight and ulcer, I do believe the sleeve is the safest weight loss tool but that is my opinion. Good luck, keep us posted.
