UHC HRA and 6 month preop requirements
cwalker replied to educationrulz's topic in Insurance & Financing
Well it took two days for us to connect over the caseworker info she needed, I don't want to pester the insurance lady, I just want to know what's going on, she has all the info so maybe(?) it will be submitted this week..then I guess insurance calls the Dr? or writes a letter, it's really tiresome after 2 months of nonstop hoop jumping. I know, patience is a virtue.lol:laugh0: -
Krystal, I was thinking about you today, did you ever get a sleep study? I saw some sample appeal letters on another forum, if you have to be the appealer..or maybe your Dr. has those. Keep the faith, it will work out, praying for you. Carla

UHC HRA and 6 month preop requirements
cwalker replied to educationrulz's topic in Insurance & Financing
Hi, Mary...I submitted my 6 month supervised diet to uhc -thru my case manager. I faxed mine in on 3/15/2010 and went ahead with psychologial evaluation, my case manager called 04/01/2010 and said as far as she is concerned I am "done". She said the Dr office needs to call her for pre surgery notificiation. I have heard UHC was easy to work with, still keeping my fingers crossed nothing goes wrong. I was worried that the uhc case manager wouldnt accept the diet history as they had my height wrong but it wasnt a issue. good Luck.:001_smile: -

Quick i need info
cwalker replied to TiffanyIsMajor's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you are doing the right thing by having surgery, My daughter had a bypass in Sept. 09, I knew this was her chance at life, I helped her and she will be there for me. It's like people don't get it you've tried and how many times do we have to admit defeat ? Who can live at the gym and who can exist on Slim Fast? Ignore your sisters, they should be ashamed for not supporting you! Just stay close to your Dad so he can be there $$$ and emotionally, aren't the people on here the greatest? :biggrin0:Carla -
Bloodwork came back....
cwalker replied to kkandrod's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well ask her if she's willing to submit it anyway or if she has any experience in denials/appealing denials. I've read on different places on google where just because they say it's not covered doesen't mean they won't pay for it. Also there's carecredit and other low cost loans, Carecredit has like a 48 mo no interest if that's a option. If she isn't willing to do that that would be your answer.Try not to let it stress you -and I know that is sooo hard to do.Hugs,Carla:001_rolleyes: -

Bloodwork came back....
cwalker replied to kkandrod's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:thumbdown:Now that you mention it I have RA and thought it was a co-morbid but the case manager said no, but osteo arthritis was taken into consideration, guess knee replacements might be more expensive that wls. GOD is great and good and if you give it to him he will take it off your shoulders. wow..Such a miracle you witnessed with your son, it humbles me to read it, but God knew he hadn't fullfilled his purpose in this life. Doctors are mere men afterall. :redface1: The other comorbidities were diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertention, high blood fats, and the lenght of time you've been overweight and a history of failed diet attempts. The only other thing that was interesting was all my adult life I was 5'8 and I took off my shoes at dr and they measured me and I was 5'7"..I thought no way! Yes way!! I made DH measure me without shoes and I had shrunk, so have you recently measured without shoes? I think they put 5'6" in the end on me so measure you may be a shrinking woman.lolCarla -

cwalker replied to kkandrod's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hey, you could be the amazing shrinking woman, shorter, shorter, lol. My UHC case manager told me high cholestrol was a co-morbid, well keeping good thoughts for you.Carla -

cwalker replied to kkandrod's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been told legally they have 30 days but usually UHC approves faster anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks and it's going to fly by and we can say busy picturing the lb's falling off with our help. -

Hi, Everone, I'm sooo excited I was on my way to psy.eval today but still had the cardio on April 1, well the cardiologist office called and moved it up to tommorrow. The psychologist said "he thinks it's great I'm doing this." Guess that means I passed.lol:cool0: I'm through with all insurance requirements as of tommorrow!!!YAY!!!! I just have to drive 2 hours each way,two days in a row. If they had called earlier I could've just got a room and stayed but it's ok because I'm almost through,YAY!! Hopefully they will get the reports within next 2 weeks(crossing fingers) and submit to UHC. Carla:lol0:

My 27 yr old daughter had a rny in Sept. and has lost 95 lbs, it has made a major difference in her health and I was with behind her 100% since then I was denied life insurance coverage because of my health and weight I'm 52 and have rhuematoid arthritis, high blood pressure and weigh 250 lb, but is 52 too old to have this surgery done? The sleeve is covered by my uhc insurance Thanks,:tongue_smilie:Carla
-
I know what you mean Doghouse, when I told my friends and family my dughter was having RNY all I heard was a gasp and "AreYou?" and I wasnt ..then. I was denied extra life insurance and it shocked me into realizing just how much different the quality of life could be. Be strong and true to yourself and ignore the other jealous people. We might be older but that makes it all the sweeter.. we Really appreciate the second chance at healty living. Isnt this forum great, age doesent matter here everybody supports each other.I still pre op and cant wait, wishing you all the best.Carla
