Down 40 pounds, and no one noticed today:)
cwalker replied to lavonwarrior's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hang in there, I know 40 lbs does make a difference, are you in a postion of authority ( a speaker at the luncheon)maybe if so they were intimidated and didnt mention it. Be proud of yourself and keep up the good work, the next luncheon you'll blow them away. -
I haven't gotten a bill from my Dr. but my hospital bill was 26,000.Hope that helps.

Seeing is Believing
cwalker replied to Globetrotter's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Globetrotter, even if the scale moves slow, the inches fall, you will lose inches. The craving for sweets was gone for me and cokes too. Take care. -
day 5 and feelin' fab
cwalker replied to nurse_ally's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, Nurse_ally. It is easier with the liquids, I drank 2 oz every 15 minutes and by the 5th day could hold more but when you add the mushies you'll see the denser the food the fuller you feel. I'm so glad you are doing well, it's an amazing tool. -
My surgeon is so rude.
cwalker replied to sbingram12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whether you Dr. was right or wrong about the eating is something you'll have to think about because it is just a tool we have BUT he had NO right to make you feel bad about yourself, and he gets paid for that office visit today, I mean seriously.... Get mad and show the man what you're capable of with the sleeve. You can do it- the sleeve works or ...Fire his hiny. -
every Doc is so different, mine was clear liquids for 7 days, then mushies (eggs,Jello pudding, refried beans) for 21 days then post op 30 days full food. I found a link on the forum to Cornwell dietary guidelines, you can do a search for it, that might help.

I was on clears first week but added unflavored whey protein, it really helps with the fatigue and healing. Welcome on board! -
I hope the pain has gone away but if not or it gets worse call your surgeon, maybe someone else will have better advice.

Hey Educationrulz, I can't wait to be in onederland! I did tell my Aunt who lives next door and is a verison of Mrs.Kravitz on Bewitched (lol) and she took care of it by putting on a prayer board at church. Our town is small with 3 redlights so it's mostly common knowledge.I'm ok with that and have a friend and a brother looking into this surgery aready but no one else has commented other than to compliment me. I hope you are doing well and have a good 4th of July!!

Painful to drink/eat? How sore after surgery?
cwalker replied to mrsv825's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 53 yrs old and was told I might heal slower but by the 2nd day I was in Walmart, 4th day gro shopping and 8 th day drove roundtrip 5 hrs for post op. I washed, cooked but I also made sure I drank 2 oz every 15 minutes for the first week, adding unflavored protein to anything I could. I've had 3 previous surgeries and expected something similiar to the pain of those but there wasnt any. I requested my pain meds to be given the first 24 hrs. I came home the next day, walked, sipped, rested. There was only soreness of feeling like you did 1000 situps. Good luck. I say go for it! -
Lap band or Gastric Sleeve???
cwalker replied to Mommato4's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I didn't choose a band for health reasons, I have rheumatoid and my body could reject the band plus a 2 hr drive for fills and unfills well it would be insane. I have friends who have the band and have done well and one who nearly died with a band, it's a personal decision for each one of us. I can say I thought the band surgery would be easier but the sleeve surgery was smooth, no problems,no fills, port problems. Why would you want a big ole stomach anyway? lol. It is a amazing tool.Good Luck with whatever you choose. -
Welcome-I loved reading your post, we inspire each other here so I look forward to following you journey.

It's normal to be scared, I had every faith in surgeon ut still it is an elective surgery and all the baggage we carry aroun as in I should just try one more time maybe this time I'll succeed. Do it for your health,do it so you can be a grandma one day and even tho i didnt use your surgeon there isnt any thing but positive things said about him.Keep us posted you'll be out before you know it. It's an amzing tool .

Just got sleeved yesterday!!
cwalker replied to lillita's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If the chicken broth is too bad get some egg drop soup from the Chinese food resturant or any soup they have and strain it, I lived on the onion for a week, even added unflavored protein also chicken wigs, carrots and celery cooked slow makes a good broth and the warm liquid is soothing.Good luck! Welcome to the losers side
