k everyone 23 days left till surg how do i really know its for me
cwalker replied to selvester420's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Concentrate on the positives of each wls and compare to waht you want from wls. For me the band was out because of all the complications and RNY was out because I have rhuematoid arthritis and need to take meds so the sleeve was a perfect fit for me, I also have 80 lbs to lose and just at 4 months out am down by 56 lbs. It's a tool and you'll learn to work whichever one you choose.Good luck! -
Just when you thought it was safe....

Made it through "scale strike" and won!
cwalker replied to educationrulz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow what a victory!! 11 lbs is great and the willpower to strike the scale, well I can't- sadly I weigh every day but it does make me more accountable! -
That is awesome!! I'm so glad you are doing well, Keep on rockin your sleeve!!
-
It sounds like jealousy, my daughter had RNY and I was so happy for her to lose- I had sleeve and she is my biggest supporter besides this forum :confused1: Your MOM sounds like a competive person, do this for yourself and your son, try to ignore the negatives if you can. We are here for you. Tiffy you look beautifuil!!!
-
Way to go Maddie, don't you love those nsv victories?? Keep on rockin the sleeve!
-
Wow you are doing great Donna. Are you doing 3 meals a day with one snack?
-
Why can we have decaf coffee but not regular?
cwalker replied to jenn20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My one cup of coffee a day has caffenine, My doctor didn't restrict it. -
Wow you inspire me MlkPas, sent the pork rinds to my daughters house and the cereal too, funny popcorn, candy ice cream doesen't interest me but I get excited over pork rinds.lol
-
went to resale shop today looking for capri's and bought a size 14 and a size 12. I haven't gotten into a 12 since 1978.yay!!
-
Yeah Breezy you're right. I did up my protein and changed my exercise into twice a day on the treadmill and I lost 2 more lbs. It's coming off, I just have to not graze. Three meals and one snack..no grazing.
-
Breezy, I think I'll try the saladswith my protein and cut out the pork rinds completely, looking back i see the weight loss slowed way down when they joined my pantry I don't care how long it takes but I am a nervous/stress eater and the lack of loss had me going back to grazing on the darn pork rinds way too much. Who knew I would ever consider them a big treat.lol

You've heard it all before...
cwalker replied to TwoStepsBack's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sleeve is a wonderful tool and I have no regets, even tho the weight loss has slowed down. I've lost the cravings with the grehlin. It's normal to be terrified, you'll do great and you can ocassionally have comfort food, just not alot of it, your tummy won't let you volume eat. Good luck! -
Minime- I hope you heal quickly :001_rolleyes: Thanks for responding, it really helps to know that this is normal, that the weight loss tapers off BUt it does come off if we keep on track. Saying to myself..keep on track..keep on track. I think I might up my protein jsut a tad.

I'm getting married!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cwalker replied to ryansgirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
congrats and best wishes for a happy long marriage!! Whens the big day? -
I love my sleeve and it has changed my quality of life. I guess our bodies are still trying to hold on to the fat stores. I'm just going to quit weighing so often (or try to) and exercise the same as I have been. I wonder what other forum members did when the weight loss slowed to 1-2 lbs a month? Did they ramp up the exercise, do a 5day pouch test or simply let time take care of it?
-
I know what you mean about the knee pain and I broke my ankle riding a bike years ago so I feel your pain. Your granboy sounds like a cutie, I have my grandgirl alot but she's 4 and wants to walk with me. I think maybe hubby just needs to take me dancing and he'll get exercise too.
-
Hi, Bevanne. It sounds like you are a lighweight and the loss is going to be slower, but slow and sure wins the race. Journal your food,it really helps alot and don't get discouraged. :biggrin2:
-
Kalew, what are you doing? free weights? zumba?
-
Yeah, I hear you Goodlife. I worked up to the 2 miles a day and thatis major exercise for me and I haven't had bread, rice or potatoes since surgery. I use fitnesspal to journal AND I am losing some hair.I take all my vitamins and all levels were 'perfect" but I know I go back to Dr. at end of October and the last comment when I left office was lets get to 170 and go from there, well it doesen't look like that will be happening anytime soon. I have the treadmill here, don't want to go to a gym. My downfall is a occasion margarita and bbq pork rinds but I even limit those.Hang in there...going to take my frustration out on the treadmill.lol:angry:

A Minor Mileston & Things I've Noticed
cwalker replied to ouroborous's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congats on the NSV. I know it was a ego boost and those are wonderful after all our hard work. -
Maybe because it's an elective surgery, we question if we should have it, or keep trying the diets and keep failing, I second guessed myself up to the minute they rolled me into the OR and then I realized this was a gift, a second chance to live a healthier, longer life and here I am 53 yrs old feeling 10 yrs younger. Grab the chance, it is wonderful to feel good about yourself, to succeed at the weight loss.

What was your first step?
cwalker replied to sychadelic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went online searching uhc website, called them and registered for someone to call me back, it took a week and they gave the ok to attend seminar and gave me Dr's names to choose from. I was lucky I went to seminar Feb 26th and surgery was April 29th. Good luck! -
Thanks, walking only does so much, I've got the neck waddle too! lol...gonna go check these out.

cwalker replied to christina@MIA's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My BMI was 39.2 on surgery day and my surgeon used a 36 bougie, he uses the same size for everyone.
