Nervous. Tomorrow I tell my mother..YIKES
girldep replied to mp8btpc's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What a blessing your mother is! It is so nice to have a supportive family. My Grammy (92) is and has always been my support... She was so supportive, she insisted on paying for the procedure because she didn't want me to have the same fate as my father (her son). My mother on the other hand was like "that's nice, Bear" and never mentioned it again. Thank you, God for my Grammy! Best of luck on your journey, I look forward to your watching your posts! -
I have known that I am losing weight , it just didn't seem like much, though! That is...UNTIL I put my uniform on for work! Holy moley! There is enough room in my britches for another person! Soo excited to see such wonderful results and I'll be six weeks out Tuesday! NEVER in my adult life have I lost this fast or this much ... And to put the cherry on top, I dont feel deprived of anything! Even on WW I still felt a little deprived, but now it's different all the way around! I'm happy and have energy. I love my sleeve! Yeeehaw! Oh yea, I forgot to tell y'all about my belt! My under belt was 44" and pre surgery I was on the last hole, praying I woulnt have to go to a bigger size. Now I'm on the LAST hole and need a SMALLER belt! Now my duty belt is getting small, and much more comfy! I don't look like a stuffed sausage in uniform anymore!

Welcome! Your progress sounds very similar to mine. It has been a smooth transition for me also. I wish you all the best and look forward to future posts!

I had my first fast food this weekend! A 4 pc chicken nugget from chic-fil-a..only ate 3. And today I had a plain ol' taco from taco bell..only ate half! I used to eat soo much, it's funny now my kids just stare and say how weird it is to see md eat so little and so slow!

Worried about throwing up
girldep replied to CoachKK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had very smooth transitions from clears, softs and now regular foods ( YES!) and have had little to no nausea. Sometimes vitamins make me a little queasy but they did that pre-op. I have learned that eating too fast is painful...a lesson I learn daily. "throwing up" now is different now than pre-op. On day one post op I drank too much too fast and it just came right up. Just like tiffy said no gagging or wretching. -
Moving forward with Dr. Nick in Texas
girldep replied to a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you're looking for places to stay, you should check out Rockwall, tx. It's a great area and about 15-20 min from forest park. -
Sleeved 5 days ago ectreme gas. . .
girldep replied to butterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree with tiffy.. I used the heating pad the first week post op and it was a tremendous help. I think it made my gas pains leave quicker bc of surgeries I have had in the past and the gas pain lingered for weeks. After being sleeved I haven't used any gas x since week one. Good luck and remember to keep walking, easy stretching and deep breathing even tho I know it hurts! -
Moving forward with Dr. Nick in Texas
girldep replied to a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I went to Dr. Nicholsons seminar last year and really liked him. I chose Dr. Jayaseelan to do my surgery, though. I would have used Dr. Nick in a heartbeat, but bc I'm a self pay.. Dr. Jay was a little less expensive and just as qualified. He also uses the Forest Park surgery center. I had my sleeve done 3/23 and they took great care of me there! I will go back there for my tummy tuck. Dr. Nick has a nurse practitioner, Sandy who is great...I really really liked her a lot. She will give you her personal phone number and encourages you to call if you need to. She also works with my doctor. -
looking for DFW area members
girldep replied to lavonwarrior's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Im in the Sunnyvale/Forney area. Would love to join y'all! -
Ok, since my surgery I have had the easiest transition. It worries me a little though. I am 1month out and have had zero trouble with any food. I eat chicken, eggs, toast, ground meat and even tried a little pasta (2 tiny bites) . No problem.. I feel great after I eat everytime! I eat about 2 to 2 1/2 oz of food. Is anyone in the same boat? I'm a little worried that I could be eating wrong/too much. Thanks in advance for help!

Thank you so much! I'm out of town on business and having to eat out . Just getting a little paranoid , probably because of old eating habits!

NEW - Dr. Jayaseelan in Texas
girldep replied to butterfly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved by dr. Jayseelan on 3/23. He did a great job. Good bedside manner and his Nurse Practioner Sandy Mccoy is the best. I have seen her more than I have seen him. If you are having it done at forest park you will be well taken care of! Remember walk walk walk and sip sip sip! Good luck to you! -
On mushies... In San Antonio on business for four days! Help!
girldep posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on business in one of the best cities to eat in. Because they are all business meetings, breakfast, lunch and dinner I have to eat with my co workers. Some places are not sleeve friendly :biggrin0:, but I am managing to maintain a fairly healthy diet. This am I had a scrambled egg, lunch chicken breast and a couple of fr fries, dinner 1/4 tortilla soup and a few bites mashed pot. Any suggestions on eating out during this phase... I'm exactly 4 weeks post op today! -
Snappy comebacks for rude comments about WLS
girldep replied to educationrulz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally like : "mind your own damn business and go ahead and gossip with the others because as soon as I turn my back yall are going to talk about it anyway". Or: you had a boob/nose/lip job... How is my surgery any different...oh other than I did mine for my health, where you got the new boobs/nose!/lips for your health? -
I am down 27 pounds as of this morning! I was sleeved on 3/23 and feel really really good!
-
Love love love my sleeve! I have more energy than I have had in years! I'm down 25 lbs...unbelieveable. I am tolerating all soft foods just fine, but don't really think about food a lot. Mow I only eat when I'm hungry..what a novel idea!
-
I say you should try. I felt pretty good after my surgery and honestly going back to work was the best thing on the world for me. Since then I have felt sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good! Btw Im a little over 3 weeks out.
-
my doc explained to me that your body absorbs the gas. I had little pain fro the gas, a heating pad and walking did the trick!

Speak up those with leaks & infections!
girldep replied to Can.sleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally feel like this site should be used by people who have had wls or those seeking information on wls. No offense to anyone who may fall into this category, but I really feel like this is not the place for employees, coordinators, marketing/promotional to use as a platform to "defend" these doctors. Of course they want to defend or promote these docs... It's where they get their bread buttered. I get that. But this is not the place to do it. I seriously doubt that this site will be the sole source of information for any person who is serious about educating themselves about this life changing decision. So. Let people state their opinions, research and draw their own conclusions. If the docs are that great or that bad, the research will reveal such. I don't have a dog in this fight. I was sleeved in Dallas. But this thread has become a snotty tit for tat between some of y'all and the funny thing is y'all keep getting sucked back into it. This thrad is like the slam book that was passed around in middle school. -
Because Im still on full liquids, I miss a good CRUNCH! Whether it be an apple, potato chip, pretzel, salad or taco! Other than that I don't miss much because you can make a low fat version of just about anything!

5 days post-op & have questions...
girldep replied to SamieTeacher's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I gained weight after surgery... IV fluids. I am 17 days out and don't really have to "sip", but still can't "gulp". I feel really good, better every day. I started feeling better around day five, the gas was gone for me by end of week one...haven't has any gas x since! -
Two months post op today!!!
girldep replied to pumpkin07's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yay for you! I love feeling different in my own skin! -
Went to the doc for my 2week follow up. I met with the nurse practitioner and proudly announced that I had moved onto mushies and was tolerating the vey well. After I pulled her off of the ceiling, she lectured me (not in a bad way) about leaks. I know all of this, I educated myself on this procedure..so why do I insist on pushing the envelope into the next phase? Heck, it's my own brain and I couldn't tell you what's going onin there most of the time. So for now, I shall remain a good girl for the next 6 days and sip cream soups :lol0:

I was sleeved on 3/23 and feel great! I kind of got a talking to by doc because I started mushies at 2 weeks rather than 3 weeks. Back on full liquids til Monday! So far I love my sleeve! When I did eat some mushies they went down well, can't wait for moe cottage cheese and scrambled eggs!
