Scared to death!
Jenslim4good replied to breekahouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I had a tumor in my colon removed 6 years ago, I remember reading a passage in the Bible in the Book of James, my sister urged me to read it. It said: For God does not give me a spirit of fear, but of faith, joy and sound mind. Fear therefore is not of God. Keep a positive attitude, God takes us to the things he wants for us, and you are in good hands. Walk in faith and confidence! Jen:smile1: -
What to do when family is not supportive?
Jenslim4good replied to FWLizzie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
For me, I am having my surgery on March 30th in TJ with Dr. Verboonen. I am NOT telling my family and have only told 2 friends whom I invited to go and support me. Both declined, saying it is too dangerous to go to Mexico, fear and one saying that a BMI of 30 or 31 is too low to start with. I reassured them, that I have been upfront with my health issues, and with researching the "dangers" of travelling to TJ. I am confident that it would be ok, but my friends are too afraid. So... I am going alone, supporting myself alone and .... if I did not believe I would be alright, I would not do it. Am I niave or what? My husband was killed 12 years ago in a car accident, my children are grown and I am on my own... just like in life, with all I have to deal with on my own, I guess this one is ok too. I don't need their approval but I wish I felt sure that they would be helpful and supportive instead of negative and judgmental. When things turn out fine, and you are healthier and more happy I believe the "nay sayers" will come around. I respect you for at least taking the high road and letting them know what is going on beforehand. I wish you the best!!! Hug, Jen -

Hello everyone. I am new to the site and have my airfare for March 29th but have not seen much about my doc on here. dr. verboonen is doing my surgery on 3/30. I am probably going alone, I don't want anyone to know because ever since my husband died in a car accident 12 years ago, everyone watches and tells me how I am living my life wrong. My only friend near where I live, wants to do lap band, she says I don't need it because my BMI is only 31, but I tell her I am getting it because of my health. Well... kinda for the looking and feeling better too... I am hoping to meet some people on here, offer my help and support where I can, and hopefully get some support and guidance from those of you who can tell me what to expect and how to prepare! Hugs. I wish you the best! You are ahead of some of us and I will be watching to see how things are with you. My surgery is on the 30th and my pre op on the 29th! Yikes!!! At least it leaves less time to fret!!! :-) Can't wait to see your progress! Jen:thumbup:

Hello everyone! I am a newbie and am VERY nervous now that people dance around what "doctor" victimizes or has problems. I am scheduled with Dr. Verboonen for March 29th, have the airfare but will pay the deposit tomorrow. Does anyone know about him. Is my $$ well spent? Help!!! Jen
