Time for an update, went to my doctor today, labs and everything looks great! Tried the unflavored protein, NOT good, so I returned it to GNC, got more of the liquid protein vials. Will probably stick with those for a while, each one has 42 grams of protein, more than half of what I need daily. I found some soups in the organic area at the store, creamy butternut squash, cashew carrot ginger, cream of portobello mushrooms, ready to try one of those for dinner today. Only thing I'm chewing still is the chewable multivitamin. Scheduled to go back to work on Monday, gotta get back into my routine, and have to start scheduling gym time, don't want to slack off on that! Feeling good, very excited about my sleeve! Next appointment with Dr. Hargroder on 4/9/10.

My 1st Week's Experience Post-Op Sleeved!
Faithful D replied to goodday's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Michelle, we were sleeved the same day! I've been doing pretty well until today, I bent down, I guess too quickly since my incisions aren't bothering me that much, and OUCH! I've been sipping every 30-45mins and have been doing pretty good on the fluids. Maybe that can help you some with your fluids I wish you a speedy recovery! -
I'm done with the clear liquid diet. The best flavor to mix with the liquid Protein was the sugar free Hawiian Punch wild purple smash. Today I started the full liquid diet, mixed the Any whey powder protein, with peaches Dannon light n fit, not bad, maybe a bit bitter. Will add it to my chicken broth and low fat cream Soups as well. I also have the Optimum Nutrition vanilla ice cream powder protein, to add to skim milk, Water, or any Great Value drink that might taste good with vanilla. I've been walking every day, want to start with light dumbells for the arms and shoulders, can't do anything else for now. I feel great, still sore on the incision on the left side, which was the largest one. My family and friends have been very supportive. We had game night last night and my friends were over, my dad didn't have a drink with them because I couldn't have a drink, he's so sweet! Will post again soon!!!

I have been cleared for the sleeve on 3/23/10, I'm so excited! I have bought the chewable vitamins, sublingual B12, and will get the liquid protein for the post-op period. I'm blessed to have friends that have gone through the same procedure or bypass, such great support system!

Sleeved on 3/23/10 @ St. Elizabeth in Gonzales, LA, by the awesome Dr. Hargroder. Spent the night in the hospital and discharged the next day. YAY!!! Today started the clear liquid diet, got New Whey liquid protein 42g in 3oz @ GNC and mixed 2 vials with some fruit punch-flavored crystal light. Tolerating it pretty well, sipping water in between. Walked 15 mins, need to do it 4 times and try for 2 miles daily, per surgeon's recommendation. Only some discomfort on incision sites but getting better every day!

Thanks pnw218! Krystal, I did the insurance certification through Dr. Hargroder's website, I guess they didn't have to fight too much because I qualified by my bmi alone. The website is www.gastricbypasswls.com. Good luck!!!

Last Supper Confession and Pre-Op cravings!
Faithful D replied to Tina's topic in Food and Nutrition
My sleeve's scheduled for 3/23/10, and althought the surgeon recommends clear liquids the day before the surgery I plan on starting my own pre-op diet at least a week before. Cut back on the sodas, rice and pasta. Oh, and have started going back to the gym and getting used to the exercise again (has to stop due to being sick, and then falling and busting my knee, ouch!). I know I'll be getting a "last supper", and know will crave cruchy salty! -
Thanks LittleLadySky. I wish you much success on the surgery, and a speedy recovery. Keep us posted!
