I talked with a lady on OH who gave me the downlow. I also spoke with an Aetna patient rep and she also said yes they are approving but not until all the legal paperwork is complete, sometime mid April. Okay, there is hope and a light at the end of the tunnel. Be patient. Good luck to all.:001_tongue:

Richard, Welcome. Good luck on your journey. I'm just starting mine with surgery in one week. Keep focused on your goal and it will happen. Chime in any time if you need some uplifting and prodding along. Best wishes, Janet:biggrin0:

Hi Holli, I've been to a couple support group meetings then baseball season started. I won't make the May meeting due to the fact I will be just getting home from having surgery but I am going to try to make the June meeting. Hope to see you all there. Janet -

Hi Happydestiny, Congratulations on your date. I know it's not because of self pay they are not calling you back. I believe Lisa just got real busy since Aetna is now covering VSG. I think she's just real busy. She's a great lady. I've not had any problems with his office. If you leave a message, make it detailed but to the point and ask her to please call you back. -
Lotusflwr, Just curious on what surgery you decided on. I'm having my VSG May 10th. I have no doubts this is the surgery for me. Just wanted give you well wishes for whatever you decide.

Hi Judy, My name is Janet. I am having my sleeve May 10th with Dr. Nick. So excited. Anyway, what I can tell you is, if you are self pay, he charges $12,200. I actually am covered with ins. His pre op, which I started today is the Slim Fast diet. 1200 calories, 5 shakes or meal bars and 5 oz. lean meat and 2 cups lo carb vegetables a day. He is young and energetic. I know 2 girls that had the RNY with him and are doing well. The girls in his office are so nice and helpful and run his support group every month. A side story I heard. His 7 year old son was in the waiting room and a lady asked him what his daddy did. He replied, he helps people get healthy so they can live longer. That was a done deal for me. By the way, I am local. Good luck and let me know if I can help you in any way. I'm happy to share info when I can.:smile1: -

Hey All, I have not heard anything new except that someone else on OH also said their surgeon said Aetna would start covering in April. I know a lot of people are waiting (im)patiently. I am so ready for surgery! I also check the Aetna website daily. Hang in there everyone.:confused1:

I know. I've been haunting the Aetna website myself. My Dr. sent in my paperwork a week ago. I told the girl at my Drs. office to go ahead and submit for the VSG. I knew it would get denied. She called me today and said they did deny it. I told the girl in my Drs. office I spoke with an Aetna rep yesterday and that they have reviewed the policy and are approving the sleeve but not until mid April. She said we would resubmit. I have a hard time believing it may actually happen myself. It's like I don't want to get too excited because the let down would be so much worse but inside my head I am doing the BIGGEST happy dance. This next month is going to go so slow.

Hey everyone, this is what I know. Aetna reviewed their WLS policy on Feb 11. The girl at Aetna I spoke with today said they are going to cover the VSG now but Aetna needs to update the policy. It takes approximately 60 days to get this put in writing, thus about mid April. If anyone is interested, you can go on aetna.com to check for the updated policy. I do this several times daily. Don't want to miss anything. Anyway, click on healthcare professionals at the top, click on policy and procedures on the left. click on medical procedure bulletin, click on medical pcb, click accept, scroll down and either type in 0157 and search or click on "what's new". As of right now that's all I know. My Dr has submitted my paperwork. I will keep all up to date when I find anything else out. Best wishes to all.
