Anticipating wonderful results...
SParkle replied to dianng's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
HI Diann and welcome I'm also waiting for pre op test results which I get next week, but think they will be ok - as i start my pre op diet the same day. You're sure to get some fab hints and tips of those sleeved on here.... I know I've starteddoing the things Tiff has advised, and also cleaned thru the kitchen cupboards to try and get rid of undesireable foods!! lol Good luck Kathy -
Hi Sherri and welcome to the board I'm sure you'll find this a wealth if information for you - I know I'd not go for the band having read too much bad stuff about it. You're in good company and I'm sure you'll find the support you need. Let us know when you get your date - good luck with your weigh in Kathy

Hi and welcome I'm in on 10th June, so just behind you. I'm using this time to get as fit as possible before the op - I start my 7 day pre op diet next Thursday, and have started to take some Biotin to try and minimise hairloss (I'll do anything on that account!! LOL). I've also made and frozen a batch of broth, and one of blended chicken soup to help prepare ahead. I'll be doing a full house clean before I go in as well as all the usual washing and ironing. And I have begun to practise other things like smaller plate for my meals, smaller mouthfuls, chewing more, trying not to drink with meals (find that hard). Good luck with your op Kathy

Awesome results.... well done. Keep up the good work Kathy

Good to hear you're ok, even if you have lost your laptop. I bet your Dad will see a change in you - so you're in for a great time!! Keep up the good work Kathy -
Was your gall bladder removed?
SParkle replied to SParkle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Tiff - I spoke to hubby and while we first thought we'd get the Dr to remove it anyway, maybe it might be better to just wait and see.... -
Laurel - be strong! It'll be worth it in the end to shrink your liver and also give your weightloss the kick start. I start mine next week - luckily its only one week, but I know it'll be hell... I may just do my exercises and drink my drinks and then go back to bed!!! I think I'll have massive issues that week more so than after the op, but to give myself a healthier life I am prepared to do this. Good luck Kathy

I can really only echo what the others have said. If your bloke loved you then he would support your choices and help you along with it, perhaps eating at home for the first month until you are totally sorted with your foods and once you have your head around the portion control thing. Can I ask long term, can you see yourself with this guy? Would you marry him? How will he cope with your weightloss and looking more and more desireable... as you are a hotty! ) Sometimes life makes us sit down and evaluate our lives and the people around us, I've had several things happen in mine where now, I have little time for those people who are all about themselves. If he doesn't enhance your life, and make you smile each day, give you support and love and share in your pain then I would really seriously question what you get out of the relationship. The sleeve is a tough time as we're all giving up a love affair with food..... you don't need the extra stress that he appears to be giving you. Be strong...and use us all for the support you need, instead of turning to bad habits..... good luck Kathy

Was your gall bladder removed?
SParkle replied to SParkle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ouroborous - thanks. I did chat to my Dr, who said if he found stones in it he would remove it, so I guess its just a waiting game - possibly the fact I have dieted more or less for the past 20 yrs or so might mean I have more chance of having them... so we'll see I'll search out the thread about stacking the deck to do as much as I can tho - thanks for the tip. Kathy -
Champ - please pass my thoughts onto your wife as well.... it really sucks that you've all had to go through this - and I do hope it resolves itself soon. In the meantime the suggestion about support in your area was a good one. Be strong I'm thinking of you all Kathy

Thats great! well done. Kathy

Hi Laurel I still have just over a week before I start my pre op... and I think I may just hole myself up somewhere for it! lol Hopefully the next few days will fly by for you, and before you know it you'll be posting post op..... Take care and good luck Kathy

surgery in less than 24 hours!
SParkle replied to erh92's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol - think you may need more than just that! As well as what the others have posted I have on mine stuff like face, hand and body cream, as I get really anxious when my skin dries out - which usually with air con'd rooms it does, so that will help me relax a bit more. Why not start a good book before you go in, so you're already into it and don't have to concentrate too much.... If you're having to travel to your Dr then don't forget a wheelie bag or case, to make sure you don't have to carry anything. Good luck Kathy -
I am sleeved and feeling pretty good
SParkle replied to tsmith's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Blimey it does sound like you had a rough time.. must have been really scary for you, but I am SO glad its turned out ok and you are home now. Keep an eye on everything and fingers crossed thats the end of your issues and its all sweet from here. Fab weightloss too... you must be well happy with that side of things. Take care Kathy -
I wish you luck.... I'm not telling mine as I really don't need him to worry - he's 80, and will do so!! I doubt I will tell him after either, but as I live abroad, I don't see him that often so can pretend my diet has gone very well!! I think all you can do is go armed with all the information possible to prove you have done your research - he gave you the gift of life, and you are now giving yourself a second chance. I don't know what you weigh, but if you have battled all your life like most of us, yoyoing around various diets then he has witnessed your dilemma...and although it is only right for him to be scared and worried, he should see thru that and into the future to support you too. Good luck - let us know how you get on Kathy
-
Fantastic result - Well done. I'm also using this as a support group - and with surgery in just over 2 weeks time I think I will need it! LOL!! I'm getting used to the walking now, so it'll come as second nature post op. Keep up the good work Kathy
-
What a fabulous wedding present!! I wish you luck with both....don't forget if the surgery is before the wedding you'll have to alter your dress too!!! Kathy

Hola Gloria!
Si, hablo espa?ol.....pero no estoy perfecto!! We've been here in Spain for 7 years now, and love it. We love travelling around Spain - Especially Andalucia.
I saw 2 surgeons, Dr Ferrer in Valencia and Dr Baltasar in Alcoy - both have a very good record, and Dr B was one of the first surgeons to perfom the VSG here in Spain.
There is a spanish forum as well which I can send you the link if you would like which may be useful to you.
LEt me know if you want any help.... only to happy to help.
Muchos saludos
Kathy

I have my pre and post op diets and both of them require Optifast - which seems to go against all the low carb theorys. I've not been given an aim for Protein, carbs or calories post op, but what they have suggested doesn't cover the 'normal' standard of protein of 60/70g. Although some of it can be made up by adding protein into Soups I doubt I can get it up to the 'normal' recommended amounts, and am worried about hair loss (as I am thinning on the front anyway!!). I just wondered if anyone else is on Optifast and what results they had? Kathy
