  1. How about getting out the house totally, go for a walk, or clear cupboards out?? I'm about to defrost my freezer today to clear out some things I know I just won't eat!!

    WOW...surgery date JUNE 5th!!!!!

Hi there You're in good company....and will be able to get the support you need on here - like a lot of us who aren't able to go to a support group. You're 5 days ahead of me... so you have a head start on me - so good luck... let us know how you get on. Kathy
  7. Hiya Good luck with the rest of it - I start mine on Thursday, and luckily only have a week, but its all liquids. The only plan I have for mine is to get out of the house with the dog when the food urges take me, and read thru my list of all the reasons why I want the surgery done, and how being in tip top health going into it will help me....I can't fail this one having failed every other dieting attempt over the last 22 yrs!!

    One Week Post Op and....

Christie - Congratulations!!! What a great result, and to get past the 300 marker as well, I bet you have a permanent grin on your face!! Its good to hear you're enjoying it and making good progress. Keep up the good work Kathy

    Complications

Like Christie my surgeon had his own stats...so its worth looking at yours, but keep in mind everyone is different. I had a major surgery 5 months before our wedding 3 years ago, and I was one of the few with complications, - my fears about the day and honeymoon travel etc didn't make my recovery any smoother. Luckily I just got it sorted out in time to revoer for the big day and be cleared to travel long haul. I know its probably not what you want to hear, but I would recommend seriously thinking about the date, and postponing it until after the wedding.A wedding day is SO special. Should the unthinkable happen and say you were in hospital for a long time because of complications (someone on here has been in for 30 days with post op problems) do you have wedding insurance that would cover it? If you do decide to go ahead with it then I would urge you to keep to everything they suggest - pre and post op diets to the letter. Try and get yourself in the best possible health before the op, not just for the op itself but for your recovery as well. Whatever you do I wish you luck Kathy
  10. I also asked about the pre and post op diets....and what happens if there is a leak cost wise ( I'm a self payer).

    small questions

Jerrys got them all but I wanted to add that my hubby asked for my spare tummy to make a wallet out of - my Dr laughed at him!! ( I hasten to add he wasn't really serious....well not really!)

    My Sleep Apnea Cured!

Maddie - sounds like a nightmare.. but stick with it - and soon you won't need it at all post op! Good luck Kathy
  13. In my preparation for the sleeve I am going to get some Biotin tablets, but wondered those who took it, how long did you take it for? Just until you could manage to get the right amount of Protein? Or longer? Did you take it before surgery too? I have got this right - haven't I? That it comes in capsules or tablet form, and presumably I'm better off getting the tablets so I can crush them? Thanks in advance.... Kathy
  14. I'm just wondering how many of you post op sleevers had your gall bladder removed during surgery? Mu surgeon said he would look at mine and remove if needed, but thinks it unlikely (which I would prefer - to keep it that is!). Kathy

    2 Months Yo!

Anna - congrats, what a result in 2 months - Way to go!! Keep up the good work Kathy

    shower or bath?

I would think showering - as any scabs on your incisions will only get slightly wet rather than soak in a bath. Enjoy!! I know when I had my last op I loved that first shower afterwards.

    1st few steps completed.

Hi Connie You're so right - from the sound of it you have spent your life giving... loving other people, and now this is time to reward yourself. Good luck with it all... let us know when you get your date... you'll find all the support you need right here from us all. Kathy
  18. I'm at that stage too.. ready but scared all at the same time. Good luck!! Kathy
  19. Zephra - have you measured yourself at all? It may be you're loosing inches not weight... and that the more you feel the urge to get on the scales each day the worse it'll makeyou feel. If you can try keeping off the scales for a couple of days, and upping your exercise if possible - you'll be fine.... Good luck hun Kathy

    Finally Orientation date

Good luck - and keep walking.... every bit you can do before your surgery means its less to do after, and will put you in a better position for the surgery. My Dr likes an hour of walking a day pre op... so my dog will have no legs left I reckon!! Keep us informed how you get on Kathy

    6 Days Out & Whew....

Sounds like you're doing well - congrats!! Keep up the good work and good luck with your 1 week check up. Kathy

    Cherries Cherries Cherries

Phat curves - You're lucky - in my plan I'm not allowed any fruit with skin on until at least after 35 days.....peeling grapes and cherries is gonna be one step beyond for me I reckon!! I do like the sound of the chicken hummous and avocado dip tho!! Very nice. Kathy

    Swimming is key for me

Qualey - thanks for your post! Your weightloss is amazing you must feel so much better for it. We're lucky enough to have a pool, and I have been swimming to fitten myself up for the op in just over 2 weeks time. Can I ask when you say about the Protein are you talking about the 70g a day amount? Or more than that? Kathy
  24. OOh - now I just don't know! I suppose as I am a self pay, getting 2 ops for the price of one is better and at least I presume they go thru the same scars, so I'll not end up with more scars afterwards!!?!
