Hi Gloria
Sorry for the delay....I'm English by birth. I also haven't told my family as I fear they won't understand my reasons for doing it, as they love me for who I am. But its only when you've been there and done that, that you understand the trials we go through.
I was recommended these two sites:
Una operaci?n para cambiar mi vida: mayo 2008
Foros de Adelgazar.net : ?ndice
By an Irish man who also had his sleeve with Dr Ferrer. He was living out here in Spain at the time but has since moved back to Ireland. I hope they are of some use to you.
Have you got your date yet? Time has passed so quick now and I can't believe I have less than one week to go!!
Take care
Saludos
Kathy

32 French, "tight sleeve"

Lee and Katt - I can identify with both of you - I lost my Mother last year to Alzheimers. The tragic illness took her from us years before she was actually gone. My only saving grace is that I was adopted, but with a sister and brothers not adopted and older than me I understand your concerns. I think the live your life motto is the best one.... no one knows what will happen tomorrow....so you make your decisions based on the information you have and hope for the best. Good luck -
The countdown begins! COngrats!!

Its a great place isn't it!! Do keep posting and let us know how you get on. Kathy -
Been there!! I was like that a month ago on the build up to my 1 week pre op diet.....doing the familiar saying goodbye to certain foods despite the fact I know I will be able to eat the majority of them afterwards eventually! I am on day 3 of pre op diet now.... liquids and protein drinks only. I have been out as we have friends staying and went out for lunch yesterday, and also prepared them a couple of meals. I am finding it easier than I thought I would, but maybe in a couple of days will change my mind on that one!! But I realise that this can shift maybe 7-10lbs (I have lost 4.5lbs already) and give me a head start and also put my body in a better place for surgery, both weight wise and shrinking the liver as well. Be strong......this is the hardest time as you still want to eat, at least afterwards we won't be able to!! Kathy

Thanks for the tips - I'll check them out. I did find Fitnesspal, but you have to be online to update, and we don't have Wifi at home, so updating is a fiddle, but will compare and see what they are like. Kathy -
Fab photos - well done Tiff - you're such an inspiration to us all with everything you have been thru... thanks! Kathy

Hi Riley We're buddies! lol - I'm on the same day but here in Spain, and am also a self pay. We're around the same BMi as well I think - although I need to weigh in Thursday before I start my pre op, but I am 164cm tall so a little shorter than you. Good luck with your pre op - how long do you have to do? Kathy -
I have to start mine on Thursday, but today I've done 2 shakes and will have a meal tonight, and only had some chicken apart from that. Tomorrow we are out for lunch, so I will Protein shake the other 2 meals... then start my 7 day pre op the morning after. Scary stuff.... but we have to do it! Kathy

Laura If its any help at all I didn't have any real pain from my uplift.... i do hear that the implants can feel like having a brick on your chest - but then thats normally from people who are quite small before going to having larger implants put in... so maybe some of that is due to the actual weight of the implant than pain.... I don't know about you but mine weigh an awful lot - if hubby stands behind my and holds them I'd probably be about 14lbs lighter!!!! :tongue_smilie: Kathy

Having spent the last weekend back with family, I decided not to tell them - I 'placed' my forthcoming weightloss with tales of the dietician I am seeing (true) and the smaller portions (true), more exercise (true) and the added incentive that my husband will stop smoking when I get to 147lbs!! (also wonderfully true). So... I haven't lied, just not told them everything. Thanks for the input... for me I think this will work the best, for the moment anyway. And Jane - I think I will be telling a lot more people after the event who I feel are entitled to know about the op if it may enhance and change their lives.... lets make the world a healthier place! Kathy

I'm starting to wonder what to tell people....and wondered how you all dealt with it. I don't think I want lots of people to know, so at the moment only hubby and my best friend know. But we have a few close friends who own restaurants which we frequent, one on a weekly basis. Any idea on how to cope with this one? Am I just honest with them, or do I in effect lie to people - in which case it then goes on and on the more weight I loose.... and may end up in comments about eating disorders..... Being at the lower end of the BMI scale I don't want people to think I have copped out of dieting... infact I have battled (like most of us) for years with failed diets, and now I am going through with this it isn't a decision I have taken lightly. But I know failure to do this would mean that I will end up gaining more and more in the end. I would add that my husband is an entertainer, so we are semi 'in the spot light' as far as gigs are concerned, so we see a lot of the same people on a regular basis....but not sure I want them all to know...... ARGHH!!! Any advice gratefully taken!! Kathy

I think its a fab idea... it'll be stressful enough getting wed, we did it 3 yrs ago... and now at least you can enjoy that and then enjoy the honeymoon with your new slim bod!! Good luck Kathy

preop starts JUNE 1ST!!!!!!!!
SParkle replied to chellebelle0880's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its weird how different surgeons require different pre op diets, but some of it also depends on your starting weight. Theres people on here on 3 week pre op plans, but most seem to be the 2 week or 1 week ones, although theres a smaller percentage on just a couple of days pre op. In the end I drove myself mad thinking about what mine would be, panicking it would be a longer one, but luckily I get a week one which i start on Thursday. Good luck with it
