    Goal Weight Decision

John - I think your concerns are common - the majority of us are here due to failed dieting attempts, I for one have never reached a goal I set myself beyond starting the diets in the first place. Yoyo'd up and down the scale yes, but not managed to attain that final placing!! I think Wannlise is right, be guided by the healthy BMI figures. My surgeon gave me an idea of how much weight he thought I would loose. So i am going by that figure....but I think it'll also be a case of see how I feel when I get there (feels weird not typing 'IF I get there!!). I must have been my goal weight at some point in my life on the way up the scales, but can't recall ever being there in my adult life....so its a learning curve for most of us. Good luck Kathy
  9. Good luck to you all.....I'm under the knife (or chopsticks! LOL) on Thursday. Kathy

I have my bag ready to start packing as i think of things... so probably tomorrow!! I'm updating my Ipod as I type to make sure I have something to walk down the corridor with! Good luck everyone! Kathy

  15. Good luck for your op.... will be thinking of you.

  16. Good luck for Friday - I'll be thinking of you!!

  17. From one Kathy to another.....lol Do you know about your pre op diet yet and how long it is? In 3 days I've lost 4.5lbs on mine which runs for a week... so hopefully maybe the fact you can't take your anti inflammatories will be helped by a quick weightloss during your pre op stage and aiding your joints. The time will pass quick - i remember when i got my date and it seemed ages away due to travel plans, but now its so close!! Good luck Kathy
  18. Kathy - I was allowed to take Paracetamol..... I get cramps with my monthly cycle, often leading to intense nausea... but Ibuprofen sorts this for me. But I figured for the result it was worth a day of pain to me. Hope you sort your meds - maybe there is something else which would be safe that you can take? Kathy

    Recovery?

Thanks Don. We have an evening out planned (well sort of but I can get out of it) a week after my surgery... so not sure if I'll be able to sit for say 3 hours to enjoy it.... I've also managed to put off having any house guests (the draw of living in Spain with the warm weather and a pool usually brings them over in the summer!!) until 3 weeks out, and then its my best friend who knows about the surgery. I'm glad you're recovering well - enjoy being at home... I know I hate being in hospital so will look forward to returning home next weekend after the event! Good luck with your recovery Kathy
  20. I was wondering how you all felt at various stages of your recovery. At one week....one month etc..... what were you able to do physically....? Kathy
  21. HI Nancy Sounds like you're well into the research part of the journey. Its always worth seeing at least 2 or 3 surgeons for different opinions....as he hasn't done that many he may not favour them yet as he might be more comfortable with the RNY and band. As a self pay you have a lot more choice than others, so enjoy your time deciding. Its an important decision to make, but I'm sure you'll be ok with it, Keep us informed Kathy
  22. I took a list of mine with me, and checked with my Dr - he allowed everything except anti inflammatories and aspirin. I'm on an anti histamine, asthma inhaler, and nasalex. But do check with your Dr, as things like the contraceptive pill are usually not allowed either, but better safe than sorry! Kathy
  23. I hope it went well for you - do let us know how you got on. Kathy
  24. SParkle
