Hiya! I'm doing well thanks.... had dissolving stitches so had nothing taken out on my post op appt. Just all checked out. I'd not describe what I had as actual pain - but I have quite a high pain threshold..... but I've been without discomfort for about a week now. I'm changing onto full liquids from today for 10 days, and am welcoming the change - boredom was starting to set in on just clears. like you anything I have must be thin enough to drink.... so I made some roasted butternut squash Soup yesterday which is lush, and have melted some low fat cream cheese in it for a bit of added protein (not much tho!) but it is lovely!! I had a skimmed yoghurt for Breakfast, or rather one third of it, just couldn't get the rest down!! Well done on your weight loss.... doing really well. We went out last night and I had so many compliments - as I've now lost 28lbs since November as was doing WW before making my decision on being sleeved. Take care and keep in touch Kathy

Good to hear you're doing well...each day does get easier... I still get exhausted but not as bad as last week, I think the trick is do what your body will let you do, then take a break!! Kathy

Needing Advice/Help!
SParkle replied to Skyhigh315's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just a thought but have you tried the Soya Protein? Maybe you have become lactose intolerant?? Worth a try possibly?? Good luck -

Am I insane? Alone? Insane AND alone??

I had all the same concerns..... being a lower BMI my head kept arguing I should be able to do this on my own.... and you read about the fabulous weight losses and think well if they can do it so can I - why should I pay all this money out? In reality I've not done it in the past 22 yrs, what really has changed? Nothing. This is the best gift I could have been given.....Its like all my christmas's come together.... granted the first few days are hard, and sometimes painful... but it soon turns a corner and each day you'll get up and feel better and better and see the scales moving down. Stick with it - you'll be great..... Kathy -
Should I go through with it?
SParkle replied to Sarah's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi and welcome I also had a lower BMI, but have still struggled with my weight all my life, and I think that this is the best gift I could have....the chance of a healthy life enabling me to be fitter and more confident as a result. It is a personal choice, but I don't think its one you will regret. Good luck Kathy -
LMAO...... you have such a way with words!! :lol0: I am having to persuade my hubby that no way can I contemplate it yet while my midriff feels like a dishwaher!! Something will misplace surely??!! :bored0: Kathy

Really struggling - Please help!

You need to contact your Dr..... mine gave me his mobile number in case of emergency. Or failing that, go to the A&E. I thought we couldn't touch any form of time release capsule for quite a while after the op....and as for Nexium, I'm on it, and I used to crush it days 1-6, but it does taste very bitter no matter what you put it in, so at my post op check up he said just cut it i nhalf and swallow it, and they've gone down ok. Ask for soluble or liquid forms of things to help get you thru this....I really feel for you as being sick after the surgery really isn't nice at all. Good luck - do let us know how you get on. Kathy -
Totally back to normal

The only time I really feel hungry is first thng in the morning, but even then I'm not sure it is hunger. I make sure whenever I can to always have a drink around me - that helps quench thirst which can sometimes mask itself as hunger. And the other thing - lucky you... I don't feel up to 100% yet, maybe 75%....but with the lack of calories and energy going in I really have to make an effort at the moment, I know it'll improve when the food stages change. Yeah - full liquids for me from tomorrow!! Can't wait for it!! Kathy -
Mine was a little plastic machine, looks like a babies toy, with a tube off it. In the machine are 3 balls, you have to exhale, then with the tube in your mouth, inhale to raise the 3 balls up (they are weighted so not all that easy after surgery). I had to do it about 4 times every half hour while in hospital. - Took a lot of puff then!!

Post Op questions - How long?
SParkle replied to BandMomsRock's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been able to sleep on my side since day 3, the side without the drain - and to start with I used a pillow inbetween me and hubby incase he lashed out in the night! Drainside it still feels a little weird sleeping that side, so I tend not to yet. Anyone else getting a furry tongue from all the Protein? I'm not even getting in my total, but still get a load of fur which I have to scrape off - lovely!!! Kathy -
Counting down to the day that will change my life....

Cutting back the portions is good preparation for post op.... good luck with your surgery - the next few days will zoom by and you'll be sleeved before you know it. -
Hope it went well for you... the first 48hrs are the roughest, but they soon pass by and you'll be feeling better really quickly. Post when you can to let us know how it went. Good luck

Am I right in thinking these are literally pork rind, what in the UK you call pork scratching? Surely these are just nearly 100% fat?? Having avoided stuff like this for the past 20 yrs it would take a miracle to get me to eat it now..... sometimes this sleeve stuff really plays with your head!! LOL Kathy

tomorrow = 4 weeks post op and tonight was the first night having salmon
SParkle replied to Lillie24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Lillie My post op diet also says at 2 weeks I can have 'proper' food... so I'll be interested to see how this post works out. Do you think your bougie size affects it? Are you on the smaller side - I'm done with a 32f. Kathy -
Congrats on your date! The next few weeks will pass quickly, so good luck! Kathy

I reckon its 4th time lucky this time, and for the right choice as well. Good luck Kathy -
No idea on any plans.... as can't have kids (husband had the snip)... but do congratulate you and wish you all the luck in the world. Kathy

In hospital every juice they gave me was with ice, but I found it much better without.... and am looking forward to my first infusion tea, as i think i am one that prefers hot to cold.....I'll certainly be trying tea first thing tomorrow instead of cold juice. And if I see another pineapple juice I will scream!! :scared0: Kathy

Thanks Angie... some good comments which are very inspiring.... Kathy

What surgery can i tell people i've had instead of telling them about the sleeve?
SParkle replied to jemmacahill's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've just spent the evening with a group of friends... not close friends, but close enough to know I have already lost weight.... and I didn't tell them. I don't want them to think I 'took the easy route', nor get into the 'you don't need to do that' debate.... no one knows about my battles with my weight except me.... and a couple of select people.... I positioned my past weight loss, and also positioned my future weight loss.... bit of a total detox style diet at the moment, hence no drinking, and then in about 2 weeks I'll be back on 'normal' food but smaller portions as my stomach will be smaller then. So I've not really lied, just been economical with the truth. Add into that the fact my hubby said he'll give up smoking when I hit 147lbs and thats the winning deal for me. So they know to expect me to lose a lot of weight this summer.....Bring it on!! Kathy -
