  1. I am less than a week out and struggling with the Isopure (or as some call it...Isopuke). That stuff is nasty! Right now I am managing the chicken broth, sugar free Jello, and no sugar-added apple juice. Also eating sugar-free popiscles. But my question is...what options are there to get in the Protein other than Isopure and chicken broth during the clear liquid phase? Please help. I would appreciate any ideas. I have the unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury proetin but am unsure what to mix with it. Thanks!!!:biggrin0:
  2. Is it normal to have a bit of blood in your urine post-op? Considering the amount of vomiting I have done in the past few days, I want to make sure I didn't tear something. Has anyone had this? I will call the doctor but wanted to see if this was common. Thanks.
  3. Great...Thanks!!! I just found a thread that had the same information. I will definitely try that today!

    Is this normal?

I had surgery on 3/9 and experienced similar issues. Although I was not able to keep anything done and was constantly dry heaving. Due to the concern of vomiting and not being able to keep fluids down (even ice chips), they admitted me to the hospital. I also had blurred vision which finally went away yesterday. I am feeling 100% better but am still a bit weak. I have the gurgling as well. The doctor sent me home with Prevast...which seems to help.
  5. Hi everyone! :thumbup1: I have been lurking for the past month or so and finally decided to post. My surgery is scheduled for March 9th in Houston. As for most, this is a huge decision for me and I continue to struggle with losing 3/4 of my stomach. I know that I don't need it, but removing most of my stomach is a bit hard to 'digest'. :biggrin0: The stories and experiences shared in this forum have helped and I look forward to sharing my story over the next few months.
  6. Thanks...I am home now and feeling much better. Unfortunately, I just started passing some blood in my urine. Not sure if this is common or not...I posted another thread about this in the post - op forums. I am finally able to keep fluids down and the nausea is gone. The procedure went extremely well but unfortunately I had quite a bit of swelling. I came home on Tuesday but by Wednesday was not able to keep anything down and was dry heaving constantly. :sad0: So I went back to the hospital and was admitted. Thursday at noon I was finally able to have ice chips (prior to that was nothing by mouth...which was not fun). Thursday I still couldn't keep anything down besides ice chips. So they started me on several meds to help with the swelling. Finally....on Friday I was able to keep my broth and Jello down. Doctor came to see me about noon and said I could stay another day in the hospital or go home (assuming I was able to keep the fluids in). I made the decision to come home....I feel 100% better. :scared0: To be honest...from Tuesday to Thursday, I was thinking I made a huge mistake and was starting to get depressed. But Friday was the turning point. I am a bit tired and low on energy but otherwise am feeling great. Due to the vomiting and no Fluid intake for a while, I think I am down about 10-12 pounds since Tuesday. That's my story so far....off to fix some lunch. Yummy chicken broth and jello.
  7. Well...things didn't go as well as I had hoped. Surgery went fine but ended up getting admitted to the hospital due to concern of dehydration and not being able to keep anything down. Day 3 in the hosptial and finally able to keep broth and juice down. They are giving me steroids to help with swelling, indegestion meds, meds to help with nausea, and fluids. I will post more when I get home...difficult to type on phone.
  8. Well...morning of surgery. Bad headache (likely due to nerves) and very nervous. I am sure lots of people have doubts the morning that you are scheduled to get part of your stomach removed. ; ) Also excited and know everything will be fine. Thanks everyone for the support! We are now ready to leave. See you on the losers bench!
  9. Well, tomorrow is the big day. So many emotions....excited....nervous...scared. But I'm ready. I have been reading and re-reading articles, books, forums, etc. I will post when I get home in between walking and sipping. :biggrin0:
  10. My surgeon says that I will not need to stay overnight in the hospital after surgery. Reading through some of the threads, it appears quite a few folks have stayed overnight (some several days). I forgot to ask the surgeon when I met with him on Friday and plan to send him an email tomorrow, but do most people stay overnight with the sleeve? Would be interested in hearing from others...Thanks!:thumbup1:

    Length Of Hospital Stay???

Hmmmm....thanks everyone for the feedback. I will DEFINITELY send a note to the surgeon. I can't believe I forgot to ask this....spent over an hour with him during the consultation and had previously sent him an email with 1 1/2 pages of questions. My surgeon is Dr St Laurent...I have only seen positive feedback on him but would be interested if others have a different perspective. I felt very comfortable with him and definitely liked him better than the other two I visited. I recognize this is different than a cesarean, but am curious about the level of pain. Unfortunately, I am familiar with the operating table...cesarean, 3 laproscopys, 2 ankle surgeries, reconstructive jaw surgery, and a few others.:blushing: Is the pain signficantly different? Either my husband or mom will be with me 24/7 after the surgery. Either way...I will definitely send him an email and also ask about the leak test. Thanks again!!!
  12. Jules - Good luck! I am a newbie as well. My surgery is scheduled for March 9th.:blushing:
  13. Thanks everyone!!! I scheduled my pre-op appointment for Monday of next week. Also started reducing my diet coke intake.:001_tt1: I usually drink 3 lg fountain sodas a day.:blushing: So today...I had one large soda and one tea. Waiting for the headaches to start. Still have mixed emotions about the surgery but also recognize this is something I need to do. One question...is this the place to keep somewhat of a journal of my story?
  14. Thanks for the welcome and well wishes!

    March 2010 Surgeries

Hi...my surgery is scheduled for March 9th. I am new here...so still trying to read through posts. Just ordered some protein supplements. Not really a fan of any protein drinks so I ordered quite a few samples. I'm going to be busy sampling over the next couple of weeks.:thumbup1: My big goal over the next few weeks is to cut out the large quantity of diet coke I consume everyday.:biggrin0:
