Thank you for the Prevacid advice. I was a little concerned about this. I'm going to Walgreens today for some last minute before surgery items, so this is definately on my list.
Thanks again....and have a great day

Hello
You answered all VERY WELL
A year ago I got a pacemaker. My cardiologist didn't put in a catheter during the insertion, and told the nurse staff that I had to lie on my back for 12 hours so as not to get a hematoma. He was 4 hours late getting to my surgery, so altogether I was flat on my back for 17 hours. Because I had been pumped with fluids for 5 hours before the surgery I was in pain Not from the surgery but from having to go to the bathroom. My husband had wandered off to the mall to shop during my procedure. They couldn't find him for several hours. Because I was on heavy medication, I forgot that I had a 'call' button for the nurse. The nurses station was right outside my room, and I kept asking for someone to help me. They just kept ignoring me, till finally the CNA came in. I had to use a bedpan, and hated it. I asked for a catheter and it took another 2 hours before he approved it:crying:.
Hence, my concern over the catheter....lol
Thank you again. Pat

Hi Pennie....looking at your stats you have done GREAT!!! Must be using that recumbant bike...lol
So, as the days tick down I have been wondering about several things. Since you have the same Dr. and had your surgery at the same time as I'm scheduled at the same hospital...I'm considering YOU to be my expert.
About what time were you taken to your room?
Exactly what did you take with you, and what do you wish (if anything) that you HAD taken with you.
Did you actually have to take the hydrocodone that Dr. C prescribes for us to have at home.
How soon
Were you able to walk after surgery
When did the remove the foley
Did your pain stop
d. Did the prevacid help (my insurance is giving me fits about filling that presciption.)
Was your Mother able to sleep in the same room with you?
Did you have to take your protein (Profect or whatever you used) to the hospital?
Hope my questions don't seem silly.....
Have a wonderful day......Pat

Hi. Pennie.....You've been in my thoughts as to how your doing...good I hope.
I have my surgery date now. It's April 7. I'll be Dr. Chaisson's first surgery at 7:30 a.m. Yes....that means I will be leaving my house bright and early at 4:30 a.m. since we have to be there 2 hours early. lol
There is a meeting the night before my surgery on the eastside, and I plan to be there. Had to miss the meeting last month as my first meeting because I was sick, so I'm anxious to go and start meeting others.
You should be in week six now, right? Have your started eating real protein yet, or still the shakes. I'm on day 2 of the preop right now and a little hungry. I really look forward to that REAL meal at the end of the day instead of a shake. Guess I need to get used to this, huh? lol
Take care, and I'll hopefully meeting you and all the other eastsiders on April 6.
