    April 2010 Sleevers!

Hey everyone, I am glad to hear that all of you are doing great so far, and i wish you and myself all the best:) I've got tot say that this is the most amazing journey of my life, tough but very meaningful. Well i was sleeved in San Francisco on April 14th 2010, by Dr.Cirangle. So far i've lost 139LBS :w00t: so am half way to my ultimate goal. I feel alive and living for the 1st time in my life. i've been putting my life on HOLD! for as long as i can remember, however now am just hungry for life ... Everythin is goin well so far. I also started working out regularly, because i couldnt at the beginning; being dizzy and weak most of the time at the beginning. My only promblem now; one that am trying to find a solution for, is my protien intake. I am not drinking my shakes like i used to. i reached a point where i feel nausiated if i drink any protien shake. Any suggestions??
  4. Have anyone heard about Dr. Cirangle from San Fran. CA? or maybe had their surgery by him?:001_rolleyes:

    whats going on

Since am an international patient and staying at a hotel here, i cant seem to put my hand on a scale. Its driving me crazy, yet i think its the best thing not having it around during those 2 first weeks. I am being weighed in tomorrow for the first time tomorrow, so lets see what happens. But i totally relate to what u guys r saying, because my tommy is also swollen and it makes me feel like i have not lose any weight. Though i can feel it in my clothes and other parts of my body. So PATIENCE.. i say Am sure we'll get there in no time ... good luck.

  10. Hello everyone .. Am new here!! and i think this web site is the best thing that could happen to me right now. Since my OP date been scheduled on the 13th of APRIL, and me starting to panic a bit, the site and all this info's just came in handy  I have few questions though, so let me start with this ...: When did you start exercising post-OP? Were you able to perform like you did pre-OP? or did you feel tired most of the time n outta energy? When do you think its the proper time to start exercising post-OP?
  11. WOW !!! ... you look amazing :thumbup1: .. What a transformation?! You should be really proud of your accomplishment. keep rockin it  best wishes ..
  12. Yes my husband is going to be with me. and we'll be staying at the ritz carlton.
  13. Well am scheduled with him on the 14th of April ... so wish me luck
  14. Yeah so i'vee heard! I actually did my research before choosing him as a surgeon knowin hes one of the best. But i was a bit worried when i joined this forum, that no body was mentioning him. ANd yeah its my frist time in SF. I've been to LA and San diego last year on my honeymoon, and we were to suppose to go to SF after LA. But unfortunately, because of the swine flu outbreak, we had to cut our honeymoon short and go back :wink1: I believe the hospital where my sleeve is going to take place is The California Pacific Medical Center. I'm staying for 2 weeks after my surgery. So yeah .. am hoping all goes well and i can actually have a look around before i leave. Any suggestions or recommendations?

    I'm sleeved!

Congrats dear . . hope you keep doing well and start shedding the pounds right away:) .. I hope my recovery would go as smooth as yours ..
  16. You guys bare in mind that back in the days when you were overweight, what basically made you lose your battle with weight loss every time, was simply a SLOW and SLUGGISH metabolism. Thats why and despite our efforts when we lose a bunch of pounds, we couldnt maintain it and it was very hard to drop the weight to begin with. But i am guessing here, and its just a theory; now that you're slim and clearly decplined your self into the right eating habits. Your metabolism now works properly and its on fire. Burning everythin you eat with you being an active person and all. What do u think?
  17. WOW!! thats impressive! Keep up the good work sis. And my i mention u look really good after losin all this weight. Best wishes
  18. I need the help of those whom already been through it. I am 2-3 weeks away from my surgery date, and i am totally confused as in to what kinda diet i should be on till the surgery date? I also noticed some of you mentioned a liquid diet pre-op. How is it done? and when should i start it?
  19. Hey u guys .. Thanks for answering. I only had a phone consult with the Dr. because am an international patient. On the phone he mentioned trying to lose any amount of weight prior surgery date, but there was no specific guidelines to what am suppose to do. However two days ago they sent me by e-mail all the information i need to deal with my diet POST-op, and couple pre-op. So here's a quote from the file: " Please try and LOSE weight! This will often times make it easier for your doctor to perform the surgery and thus safer for you. Losing as little as 5-10 pounds can decrease the size of your liver. A smaller liver makes it easier for us to see your stomach and the parts of the intestinal tract that we operate on. In some higher risk patients, we do make it mandatory to go on a two week liquid Protein diet prior to surgery. We recommend all patients do this to reduce the chance of a conversion to an open procedure or other serious complications. " So am guessing here i should go on a liquid diet from next week since my BMI is 68 . . but i dont know how to do it? would someone try and give a clear idea of a regular day on a liquid diet? Thx
  20. Hey deedee ... Thanks for your input, and BTW congratulations! you look amazing. Yeah so my main concern is feeling weak or not energetic .. you know ? and if i did end up experiencing the weakness, for how long? The main reason am taking a drastic measure such as cutting my stomach in half, is to feel ALIVE again, to forget how it feels to have a lack of energey most of the time.

    Before

  22. Hello Dr. I am scheduled for VSG within 3 weeks. So my Dr. asked me to perform the medical tests and then mail them, since am an international patient. While getting those tests done, i discovered that i have a few gallstones (5 to be exact), but they told me that they'r the kinda big ones that wont cause any blockage for now. So my question is? would that change my situation with the surgery and all ?
  23. Wow !! thats amazing GaryB congrats man. you must be thrilled with such a huge a accomplishment in sush a little period of time. Keep it up :smile1:
  24. Hey stacy160, WOW!!! u just made my day! i've been really concerned about that part, because exercising is a huge part of losin the weight and keeping it off.
