    I?m here in Mexicali!!!

Ishary, I am having my procedure done for $8750 but the normal cost is $9700. I would give Nina a call or send her an email because you may be able to get the lower rate still. The reason that you want your daughter to go to Dr. Aceves is the reason that I chose him as well. I wish you luck in your journey

    I?m here in Mexicali!!!

I think that I might have to try out this place in two weeks when I am down there. Nothing like a good margarita to help calm your nerves. My thoughts are with you today and please let us know how you are as soon as you are able. I can't wait to see this dr. that all of you keep talking about
  3. Hey Breekahouse, I have my surgery scheduled for the 8th as well, so you will have to let me know if this is the date you go with? We can be sleeve sisters:)
  4. Marie, I will be thinking of you tomorrow as you go into surgery. I will be joining you in just a few short weeks, so please post how your doing when your up to it. Tonya

so lost, what do you do?

Determined1, I had a complete hysterectomy at the age of 29 and this was after I had already had 3 laparscopic surgeries to remove the scar tissue. I will tell you that removing the ovaries reduces the chance of the endo growing any further. There is alot of pain involved with endo and I completely sympathize with what you are going through. I would definitely do the hysterectomy first to allow your body time to adjust to the lack of hormones or artificial hormones if you are planning on taking any. I personally have chosen to deal with the hot flashes and night sweats versus the side effects of the artificial hormones. As everyone else stated, get a consult from your doctor but having gone through this, I can tell you that your body has a big adjustment ahead of it. You sound like a strong brave woman and I am sure that you will chose what is best for you. Good luck!

  7. I have my surgery scheduled with Dr. Aceves on March 8th and while my husband is going with me, I was wondering if I would have any sleeve buddies available to walk with??:001_rolleyes:
  8. It's funny now that you mention it because I have been doing the same thing recently...I also realize that I don't chew my food very good either and so I am trying to test that out now as well. I am also in the process of trying different flavors of isopure so that I can have them already on hand when I get home. I have discovered so far that I like the grape and orange but its a little weird to drink them alone. I am thinking of adding them to some sobe lifewater 0 calories but I wasn't sure if this beverage is allowed in the post op? Does anyone know?
  9. Hi CAMom, Please let me know what surgery date you get becasue I would really like to have a walking buddy as well. My husband is traveling with me since I am coming from KY but it would sure be nice to have someone there that can understand what I am going through. Tonya
  10. I am scheduled for March 8th, so it sounds like I will just miss you guys but Good Luck!
  11. Brenda, I have some questions that I hope you can answer. I saw my PCP today and told her about my surgery and going to Mexico. She remained objective but had some concerns. What was your experience with your PCP? With your complications that you have had with clotting, how did the hospital and your PCP react? My PCP's biggest concerns are if I have complications, that no one in KY would touch me and I find that hard to believe and of course there is the concern that the insurance company will not cover anything since I had the surgery done in Mexicali. Her other concern is when she does my follow up bloodwork, what does she do if it comes back abnormal? Can you possibly relay your experience for me? I am all set to send out my deposit but now she has me a little freaked out!
  12. I know that you can purchase international insurance for when you travel outside the states but I still need to research that further. As far as what they will cover, I believe that they don't cover any complications from the surgery but they would cover hospitalization if necessary. So the hospital stay but not any surgeries that would result from the procedure. At least that is my understanding so far
  13. So I have finally decided that the sleeve is for me and I have set a surgery date. I decided to go with Dr. Aceves instead of Dr. Alvarez. After alot of research, I just felt more comfortable with this decision. My surgery is scheduled for 3.8.10 and I am very excited!(Nervous as well). I am getting alot of static from my sister about having the surgery in Mexico but I am comfortable with my choice. I just don't know how to make her understand why I chose to do this in Mexico b/c she thinks its all about the money. She is an RN and even though she knows that the states don't offer any better care, she is extremely worried about the possibility of complications and my being in Mexico if that occurs. I just don't know how to alleviate her fears. Can anyone help??

Yay I have DATE and, DRAMA = [.

So I would be seriously ticked off as well. I know what you mean because I am not telling anyone. I have only told my mother, sister and my husband. I am scheduled to have surgery on 3.8.10 with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali and my sister is about to lose it. She is a RN and just cannot understand the decision to go to Mexico even though she knows how the health care system in the states works. She is supportive of the surgery but not the Mexico idea. My husband is Canadian, so he is much more supportive. My mom of course just wants me to be happy. I started to accidentally post something on FB and as soon as I realized that is was on the public thread I immediately deleted it. You are definitely handling it the right way and are keeping the right attitude. It's hard to listen to those comments from people you love but remember this is all about you and what you need. Keep your head held high and stick to your decision. Congratulations on your date!
  15. I have a April 1st scheduled date with Dr. Alverez and was wondering if you have visited his facility and confirm my choice of surgeon? I have alot of family that is concerned about me having my surgery in Mexico and I would love to have some information that I could share with them. BTW how is the liquid diet going? Your date is rapidly approaching
  16. Glad to hear that your surgery went well and you are on your way home if not already there. I am scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Alverez on 4/1/10 and wanted to know if you could share your experience with me?:biggrin0:
  17. Hi....I am in the process of looking for the right place to have my sleeve surgery in Mexico. I have been accepted by Dr. Alvarez but I have also been reading alot of great threads on Dr. Aceves. I was wondering if anyone has used Dr. Alvarez and can provide me with any information? Thanks!
