Interesting Article on why we have stalls in weight loss
txaggiemom replied to Swiftflow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not a veteran sleever, but I am a veteran dieter and it sounds reasonable to me. My doctor told me something like that as the reason it was so easy for me to lose 10 pounds on low carb the 2 weeks before the surgery. Swiftflow - my niece is in Denton too. She graduated from UNT in May and she plays in a local mariachi band. And congratulations on your surgery date. I am really liking my sleeve. -
OK this may be a stupid question, but how often should you go. I am now at once a week bu don't feel uncomfortable at all. I try eating beans every so often to help, but it doesn't do much.

Salisbury steak - Not the TV dinner version
txaggiemom replied to Tiffykins's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
I made this over the weekend and my husband loved it! We will be making it again on a regular basis. -
Wow you are doing great. I have lost 30 lbs but that includes my preop diet loss. I am having no problems eating, I just can't eat much. I only lost 2 pounds last week so that was disappointing. I feel great though and am very happy with the sleeve.

My doctor starts you on full liquids as soon as you get out of the hospital. He includes malt o meal and mashed potatoes in mushies and long as they are thin.

This looks great! I am going to try it next week. I love salsbury steak, even the TV dinner kind. :001_smile: -
you can mix it with water or fruit juice if you are allowed to have that. (My doctor didn't allow any fruit juice. If you have the unflavored you can mix it with crystal light.

I was very happy with Dr. Mcdaniel and his staff. His PA is great. I really can't say anything bad about the whole situation. The hospital is very nice and they really know what they are doing. There is a support group that meets on the first and third Mondays of the month at a church on Holly. You should come. I went the first time before I had my sleeve and it was very informative. Most of the people in the group are Gatric bypass patients, but their are a couple of us sleevers and I think as time goes by there will be more and more of us.

wish you hadn't done it?

I am almost 3 weeks out and I felt so nervous just like you. The first 3 days were rough for me and I wondered what had I done to myself, but from day 4 on I have felt great. I'm not missing any of the foods I have given up and this is a breeze! -
Day 3 was the hardest for me too. I was running a fever and I thought "what did I just do to my body", but day 4 was so much better! My husband said,"You seem like a whole different person today" and every day since then has been better and better.

I am now 2 weeks out and doing great and very glad to be off liquids. So far I feel great! I am having a problem getting all my water in and I have to have a protein shake every day to get enough calories and protien, but I know that will get better with time.

Post Op Protein Question???

I liked to Isopure Dutch Chocolate before and I still like it now. I guess my tastes are weird because I see so many people complaining about the Isopure. -
Anybody get a rash
txaggiemom replied to txaggiemom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I am allergic to the surgical tape too, but I told them so they used different tape. I called the doctor and he said this was not something they had ever run across. He said to take off the steri strips on my incisions. I did that a couple of days ago and I still have the rash. I still don't know what it is from but they did say I could take benedryl so I am going to try that this weekend and see if it helps. -
I am 9 days post op today and my adbomen started itching like crazy I thought it was just the incision sites, but when I looked my whole stomach is covered with red hive like bumps. Any ideas what it could be and would you call your PCP or your surgeon? I am taking bariatic chewable Vitamins twice a day and Zantac twice a day but otherwise have not eaten anything I didn't eat before. I am on full liquids.

Should he be able to drink this much?
txaggiemom replied to txaggiemom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for your replies. I saw so many people that said that they weren't able to drink as much and I was really worried. I am going to try sipping though. -
Should he be able to drink this much?
txaggiemom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 days out and on full liquids. I am able to do 2 ounces of "calorie" liquids per hour along with the 2 ounces of Water or water or water substitutes, but I can just keep on drinking water all the time and have no problem with getting full or vomitting. I am worried there is something wrong or that I am messing up my sleeve -
I had my surgery 7 days ago. Those first 2 days were pretty tough but today I feel pretty good and will be returning to work tomorrow. I am now looking forward for this week to be gone so I can start on soft foods.

What did you bring with you to the hospital?
txaggiemom replied to karaserene1985's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took very little also. Just loose clothes and flip flops for the way home, a toothbrush, toothpast and chapstick. Never got out of the hospital gown and socks until I got dressed to go home. -
My surgery is less than 24 hours away! I check into the hospital at 12:15 tonight and my surgery is at 7:30 tomorrow morning. I am a little nervous, not about the surgery or long term problems, but mostly about how much will it hurt right after surgery and in the next few days. I had a hysterectomy a few years ago (it was not laproscopic) and I don't really remember too much pain afterwards. I'm hoping for that, but expecting it will be a lot more painful.

Glad you are doing better. I didn't have a drain, I don't know why. I ran a fever last night, but I never went over the 100.5 that they tell you to call the doctor at. Today my temp is fine and I am trying to get all my fluids in. I am still not anywhere near the 70 ounces they say. I may get to 30 or 40 by the end of the day.

They did leak test me yesterday and everything was fine. My doctor said he is going to use his video of my sleeve as his training video because my sleeve was nice. :tongue_smilie: -
We were on the same day! and my second day was pretty bad too. I didn't have too much nausea, but everytime I said I was, they gave me a shot. I didn't take in much at all. Today is so much better. I hope you feel better too.

txaggiemom replied to txaggiemom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Lee that is good to know. I was feeling pretty bad because I just couldn't get those fluids in like they wanted. I was so sure last night that I was going to end up back in the hospital with dehydration. I never threw up, I just felt like I was full and that I couldn't eat anything. The nurse said that it just happens sometimes because your stomach is inflamed so it always has that full feeling. Today I am doing so much better.
