    Surgeons in North Carolina

Edie~ My procedure went very well. Dr. P is by far the best physician I have ever had. I went in for surgery early Wednesday 1/27. I was up walking to the bathroom in recovery. Don't get me wrong, I had a little help, but couldn't stand using the bed pan. So I got up and walked (with nurse assistance) to the bathroom. I was home Thursday night. The staff at Presbyterian Bariatric (Dr. Pirello's office) are great. They were very helpful and supportive right from the beginning. They are all so personable. It's a great feeling to know when you walk in they will call you by your first name. I am 15 weeks out and down 63 pounds. I am not sure how many sleeves he's performed, he was in Concord before he started at Prebyterian. I may have been one of the first few he performed at Presbyterian-Matthews. Either way, I would do it over and over and recommend Dr. P anytime. He and his staff are great. Good luck and please keep me posted. I am here for support if needed. Thanks, Laura

    1 Week Post OP

I am one week post op and I am already down 16 pounds. I couldn't believe it when I stode on the scale today. I did tell the doctor, I am having a hard time with my protein. After a week of being on it, it gets harder and harder to stomach. To me that taste is absolutely disgusting. He did tell me I could add reduced fat peanut butter and bananas to spice them up. I must say, adding peanut butter to one was much better this afternoon.

    I'm gagging over here!

I too am having problems getting in my Protein. I was drinking banana cream Protein shakes for Breakfast before surgery. Now, I can NOT stand them. I am one week out from being sleeved and am down 16 pounds. The doctor told me today to add reduced fat Peanut Butter to my shakes. He also said I could blend a very ripe banana in them also. One receipe I can't wait to try is using vanilla protein adding just a little instant decaf coffee to it and I also got sugar free carmel flavoring. I bet it will taste like a caramel frappacino. I am up for any ideas to spice up these protein shakes!! You may also look into getting different flavoring extracts to change the taste. Try adding mint extract to your chocolate shakes. I bet it will take like mint chocolate. Just a thought, my mom and I have been thinking of different ideas today, just haven't tried them all. Sorry I am just rambling on and on. It makes me feel better that I am not the only one that is having trouble getting in all the protein. Best of luck to you on your WL journey. Keep me posted if you come up with any other protein ideas.
  4. Hi, my name is Laura. I am a newbie to the site. I have decided, after failing with all of the "fad diets", to have the gastric sleeve procedure done. I am 5'2" and starting at 238. I am somewhat nervous and anxious all at the same time. My pre-op visit is tomorrow and surgery is scheduled for Jan 27th.

    Surgeons in North Carolina

Hello Ladies. My name is Laura and I will be sleeved on the 27th of January. Dr. Pirrello is doing my procedure at Presbyterian Matthews. I love him and his staff. It's nice to walk in a doctors office and they know you be first name. It's worth taking a look at. Wish you the very best on your WLS.
