Today was a little yucky and rainy and so I had to skip my usual hour walk (which I do albeit begrudgingly). So I decided to go try Zumba, since so many of you had sang its praises- or danced its praises! Ladies..... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! What a fun workout. So much fun. And it still kicked my tooshie, but OH MY- it was so much fun. And the best thing was on my way out, my old trainer told me it is like 500 calories burned an hour. I will assume since I took it 'easier', more like 300- but I will take that for a fun workout. If now they offered it more than once a week. Another thing that really clicked for me is that I need to find more workouts that I enjoy. There are not a lot of great classes at my gym, but I will look around at the other dance studios, and might have to get a second membership. Cheaper than two sessions with a trainer I love ZUMBA. Suggestions for 'similar' workouts welcome. Thank you once again- whoever the people who shared this gem with me :biggrin0:

I will be leaving the soft-food stage shortly, and have been advised to eat three meals and two snacks. What are your favorite low calorie, high protein (maybe?) snacks? What do you snack on regularly? What can you pack and go quickly?

You read the boards, and everyone talks about 'the third week stall'. Well, mine is here- the scale has been 179, 178, 177, 178, and 178.8 this week. And no amount of reading could prepare me for the ANGER I FEEL TOWARDS THE DARN SCALE. I mean seriously, did I spend close to 10K, time off work, have a dollar of a stomach to lose 14.3 pounds???? I hope this stall breaks soon. In the meantime, how did everyone cope with a stall???

I was laid off 8 years ago from my first job out of college. At that time, I was so upset, and was really worried. I had moved from Toronto to DC just for the job. I did not know that I could negotiate my severance, and was stuck with only two months of severance pay, and I could not get unemployment. When I look back- it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I started my own business and despite the economy, I have been more successful than before. And I am so much happier writing my own check. All this to say- this is YOUR MOMENT. When the universe closes one door, a better opportunity awaits you. Carpe Diem. You have achieved a lot through this weight loss journey, and you are strong. You will do just as well in the next WONDERFUL chapter in your life. p.s. 50 is the new 20. Only less turbulent :party4:

and it was absolutely lovely. Everything worked out wonderfully. Considering how 'little control' I had, I was unusually calm for a typical Type-A. We planned everything in the last two weeks. When we finally decided to elope in Napa, we had to get everything organized in two weeks. I found a dress. I found a photographer online, who recommended a friend of hers who would be our officiant. The officiant volunteered her home for the ceremony- she said there would be nice pictures. That was an understatement- her gorgeous adobe mountain property was something out of Tuscany. IT WAS GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!! I had someone come and do my hair and make-up (and was hella nervous about her, but she worked out so well) Our ceremony was held outside by a beautiful olive tree with my now-husband, our friend (who flew down from DC), and her son. It was intimate, but lovely- and I would not have done it any differently. 70 degree weather, gorgeous sun! We celebrated after at the Culinary Institute, and I did have some wine. We shared a tart from Bouchon instead of wedding cake. And now I am the Mrs.

Thank you for all the wonderful wishes everyone. We are settling in nicely into marriage :confused1: and it was a nice distraction from the scale.

Oh.... as a dog owner myself (my Cooper is a doggie), my heart is so sad for you. And there is a doggie heaven

Hey - just wanted to share with my lovely VST family. So my fiance and I have been engaged since August (after being together for 3.5 years). Unfortunately, I have been the most un-bridey bride out there. In the meantime, our families- (well more like mine) have been a little out of hand with the wedding planning 'thoughts'. We have family all over the world. My mum lives overseas, and INSISTS the wedding be held at her home, and with that comes the 600 guests. His parents live in Georgia and the rest of his family lives in Germany. We live in DC and have most of our friends here. As a result, even starting to think about planning this wedding has been stressful. So, my fiance has a business trip in California, and we are going to make a side trip to Napa Valley and ELOPE! I have an officiant picked, we have a nice little vineyard that we can say our vows at, I picked a photographer to get a few pictures for our 'Announcement card'. Did I miss out anything? I would love your suggestions. We have a week to go, so not a lot of time to prepare. Oh- and I picked up a plain white dress at Loehmanns for $59 bucks :thumbup1:

The CIA is such an awesome idea. We were trying to get reservations at French Laundry or one of the Michelin's but a 9 tasting menu for an already sleeved person is a tad bit impossible to handle! Will certainly check that out :wink0:

You guys are soooo great! Thank you for the cheers, and the advise (even MlkPas- you are so thoughtful for getting me the license info- I called and set up an appointment for monday morning) I will definitely take your suggestions and get a bouquet, maybe a cupcake to split. And I will post lots of pics so that we can toast with some Protein shakes and Pork rinds (haha- that had me on the floor laughing!!!)

I don't know what the answer is to that... but congratulations on setting an awesome goal. We will cheer you on to the marathon.

I love Oikos, but I get Fage because of the high Protein and lower carbs. I add the crystal light iced tea drink mixes - 5 calories, no carbs, no sugar. It gives it a sweet taste with a little kick.

Does this happen to everyone? I will be happy NOT to be hungry. I am still taking my acid reducer, but no luck yet. I am about 6 weeks in as well.

Wow.... what a stunning difference. Congratulations :w00t:

Funny, I actually liked the Nectar. I use less water as well. p.s. I also liked that it had no carbs :w00t:

Thought I was off my month long plateau- turns out I am not!
filodough posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I posted a few weks ago about my weight loss struggle. I had surgery on January 14th- VSG, and lost 14 pounds in the first two weeks. I was nevery put on a liquid diet since my BMI was 'low'. In the following weeks (as of Janaury 28th until last week Tuesday) my weight was stuck at 177 pounds. I have been drinking 64 oz of Water, getting in a minimum of 70g of Protein, and keeping my calories between 800 and 850 a day. I have also been exercising 4 times a week- initially just taking long walks. Last week I decided to cut carbs down to under 40g a day- I keep it at mostly 20g-30g, but some days I will be at most at 40g, and only get my carbs from protein sources like yogurt. I also got cinnamon pills to regulate my blood sugar (I have not been tested for insulin resistance, but was trying to be proactive). I also started dance fitness classes and try to do those four days a week- an hour long, but they involve vigorous cardio. On the days I work out, I drink an extra Protein shake to balance the calories out. My weight went down to 175.6- and I was feeling good. Yesterday, I jumped on the scale, and I am back at 177. Today the scale is at 177 as well!!! SERIOUSLY ! It has almost 6 weeks since surgery- and this is meant to be the honeymoon time. What could I possibly be doing wrong? I have spent the last hour crying in frustration because I don't understand why this is not working for me. Even for people who are 'slow losers' at least the scale moves!!! -
How many carbs are you eating per day

So, I am still stuck at 177 pounds- it has been almost 4 weeks at the stall, and I am really trying to figure out why. One of the things I am not clear on is how many carbs I should consume every day. I try to have all my Protein every day, have my Water intake, but I don't know if my carb intake is too high (it is usually between 60 and 100 a day. What are the rest of you having for carbs? Also, what Snacks do you eat that are low-carb- especially the sweet snacks. -

Thanks Wannalise.... I asked my fiance to get rid of the scale. I can't believe a gadget can make you feel so awful about yourself, so I am done with it. (This time for real :001_tongue: -

Thank you guys for all the thoughts- and cyber hugs. In between my crazy crying, I called every endocronologist (sp) in town and have an appointment for this afternoon. If I am weight loss resistant, or have insulin issues, or have hormonal imbalances, I need to know NOW!!! I know I have been following my Doctor's orders to a tee so I am really frustrated. Arrgghhh! -
Thank you 'THISISIT' for posting about Siggis Yogurt. IT IS OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD! It is icelandic traditional yogurt. From the website: It is made by incubating skim milk with live active cultures. The whey, the Water naturally found in milk, is then strained away to make for a much thicker, creamier, concentrated yogurt. So to make just one cup of skyr, with all that water going out, you need 3 - 4 times the amount of milk required to make a regular cup of yogurt. As a result of this process skyr comes out with 2-3 times the Protein count of standard yogurt. Here is the caloric info- low carbs, and TONS of PROTEIN!!! INGREDIENTS: Skim Milk, Live Active Cultures, Vegetable Rennet CULTURES: B. Lactis, L. Acidophilus, L. Delbrueckiee Subsp. Bulgaricus, L. Delbrueckiee Subsp. Lactis, S. Thermophilus

Wow Deedee, you look fantastic honey!! The bathing suit is adorable. We are our own worst critics, but you truly look amazing.

My favorite so far is the orange ginger. Tastes very 'high-end', like a gourmet yogurt.
-
I found it at Giant. I am in the east coast. here is a store locator on there website: siggi's yogurt - where to buy our skyr
