  1. I hear you about the winter! I am soooo over it. I would love a spring get together with the folks closer by.

  2. Deedee I just noticed from your blog reading that we are 'fairly' close by. I live in the District. Good to know there is someone in my neck of the woods.

  3. Mini. Just checking in to say good luck with your surgery. I hope it goes flawlessly. Very excited for you :0 let us know how it goes.

  4. Hey Katl, I have had a fairly uncomplicated recovery- it has been 8 days out. Every day is better. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Alvarez and his staff. I was very impressed.
  5. ps. dinner was some tomato basil soup (and I had only 1/4 of a cup in a half hour)
  6. Thank you guys for the pointers. I really appreciate it. I actually went out to after-pedicure dinner with a friend of mine today, and told her. It is getting easier telling people.
  7. I had my surgery with Dr. Alvarez on Jan 15th. I have had a fairly good recovery (it has been 8 days out). I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Alvarez and his staff. My other option was Dr. Aceves. His patients love him. I just picked the person with the earliest appointment to accomodate my needs. I don't think you would go wrong with either doctor. Good luck on your journey.
  8. Hey Marci, Just checking in with you. How is it going now. I am starting day one of full liquids and I am so excited. Any fun recipes to share?

How did the staple removal go? I emailed my doc and turns out I don't have staples to be removed. Something about them being different and getting absorbed. I also did not have a drain, so not sure what gives.

  9. I am another person who has not outed myself. The only folks who know are my fiancee and two very good friends. My family thought I was in the hospital for gall stones. I am just not ready to get the judgement unleashed, because it will.

3 days on the Loser side

Welcome to a healthier life. I got sleeved a few day before you (it has been 8 days now), and the only two things that bothered me were a little extra acid, and pain in that incision site. It was really painful the first few days, but gets better everyday. Now I cannot feel it unless I bend or touch it. The other four incisions I can hardly feel. It will get better each day.
  11. Hey.. I have a dog too. his name is Cooper (hence being Coopers mama). I tried to lift him off the ground yeesterday (he is 35 pounds) and it hurt, so you are right. i cannot imagine how it is for folks lifting babies a week in.

I am on day one of full liquids. Any enticing recipes to share?

By the way, I have a trick up my sleeve (no pun intended). While going down clothing sizes, I am only going to buy dresses from now on. They are feminine, but they allow you flexibility to go down two ot four sizes without looking crazy. Thought I would share that with you.

Let's get this singles forum going!

Keep at it. Whichever way you choose (online, blind- dates, fix ups). Just remember dating is a numbers game. And have fun doing it. You might go out with a couple of duds, but you sometimes have to go through the numbers to find the one you are really meant to be with. And have fun doing it, playing dress-up, going to places you have never been (and making sure he picks the tab. Yes, I can afford it, but I like to be courted, and I am old school like that
  13. I had surgery a week ago and have had a fairly decent recovery. Not a lot of pain, some acidity and grumbling stomach, a little pain in the main incision if I bend over, but nothing over the top. However I feel like I may not be getting enough walking in. I have only been able to walk a block and it exhausts me. Today I had to go run some errands at target and the grocery store and I almost passed out. I certainly cannot walk fast. I have been getting a decent amount of liquids and forcing down the protein but getuting a minimum of 40g. Is my body going into starvation? Am I expecting too much? Was anyone out of energy a week post op?
  14. I don't know if I am ready to tell people i took this step. One person I spoke with prior was not for it at all. Seeing that I am considered a light-weight, (but knew I was heading there, and knew that the co-morbidities would be following me) I feel like there is extra judgment for taking this route instead of exercising/eating well- and lord knows- I TRIED! Is there any way to survive dinner with people without telling them you have a teeny little stomach?

Partnered, but cheering you on!!! p.s. I am a big advocate of online dating :blushing:
  16. You are soooo lucky you are on pureed foods. I still have one more day until I get on full liquids. I went and bought a magic bullet yesterday and some soups. I will start liquifying them tomorrow and adding some broth so that I can get them into full liquid form. Also bought a sieve.

So how much chicken soup were you able to do?

by the way, how much walking can you do?

    I can't take it.....

Marci- I don't have any solutions (since we had surgery on the same day), but I hope it goes away soon.

    I am sleeved!!!!

Yeay for you! I hope you have a speedy recovery. Everytime you have to take a sip of protein, pretend it is a really good margarita- only this one helps you heal quickly and still keeps you skinny.

    biotin

Plumbum, I have a bottle of Vitamin Water in front of me and it looks like the only thing you would get your daily amount equivalent would be Vitamin C. My bottle only has Vitamin C and a variety of Vit b's but the Vitamin Bs don't have the full daily value. Also, I am not sure what the quality of the vitamin in vitamin water is like.

Don't do it sleeve partner! Let's hang in there. I don't know if it the same for you, but it would go downhill for me after that.

    Tell me the truth.

I would keep the bigger picture in mind, and skip the cheese. Two things to think about 1. I think the pre-op diet is meant to make surgery easier by reducing the amount of fat around your liver (at least this is my understanding- I am not a doctor and I don't play one on TV). I would do anything to make sure my surgery go as well as possible. 2. This is the last diet you will ever do. (the weeks of Pre-op) and the liquid diet post-op (so say6 weeks). The way i see it, we will eat healthy after this, but after years of doing crazy diets, this is the last time ever! I am on Day 6 of my Clear Liquids, and struggling too. But bigger picture, bigger picture!
  25. What on earth do you do during the recovery week after surgery???Between drinking protein shakes and watching 'Real housewives' I am sooooo bored!!!
