How many carbs are you eating per day
filodough replied to filodough's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the tip on Fage. Even though I love the taste of OIKOS, I will have FAGE for the days that I am 'almost over' my alloted carbs. in other news, I tried the ricotta today with some Blue Agave. It was DELISH!!! until I saw the carb and sugar content of the agave... oh my!!! -
Holding my breath for Onederland

I love the runner. Yeah wonderland... let us know the good news tomorrow Cajun!!! That way we can toast you with some protein water :blushing: -
I just checked the grocery store, and the target - and cannot find them. DARN... no walmart in my area.

ZUMBA- where have you been all my life????
filodough replied to filodough's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Tiff... I will have to check out hip hop abs. We danced to a lot of salsa and merengie (Sp?) and even some arabic. Mini me... I think the great part of the dancing was that you could pace yourself. I have to admit I am not in the best shape since I have not worked out for a while, but used to be in good shape. But I cannot run for more than a few blocks. -
FRUSTRATED!!! Am I the only one this is not going to work for?
filodough posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery exactly a month ago on January 15th. Lost 14 pounds in the first 9 days, and then NOTHING since then!!!!! NOTHING!!!!! Zilch! Nada! Naught!!! I mean seriously... what the heck! I have been keeping my calories under 800 a day. Heck I only transitioned to solids on Friday. I force having 75 grams of Protein every day. I drink my Water everyday. I watch my carbs. I even contemplated ditching the last bit of carbs that I have in my greek yogurt. I am CONSTANTLY hungry. I found out yesterday that it might be acid, and took some prevacid this morning. BUT I AM STILL HUNGRY!!!!!! And then today, we get a valentine eat-at-home dinner, and I can eat ONLY one dumpling!!! That's it. NOTHING ELSE- I AM FULL!!!! So you would think seeing that I am eating 1/16 of what I used to eat, the damn scale would move. IT IS NOT!!!! The inches are not going anywhere. My clothes don't fit differently. 21 days- and NO MOVEMENT!!!!! I have tried researching weight loss resistance etc, and I really don't know what the answers are. If there anyone that this surgery has not worked for? I am frustrated and I just want to cry! -
How many carbs are you eating per day
filodough replied to filodough's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the suggestions folks. My favorite thing to eat is vanilla or Honey OIKOS greek yogurt. And that comes with a whooping 18 carbs a day. It will SERIOUSLY pain me to cut this back. Maybe I will need to half it or something. Are there any yogurts that have less carbs? Also, when you work out- do you all still keep your carbs as low? I must admit, I thought this surgery would be a break from 'counting', so I am a little disappointed. But I guess I have to suck it up. -

Thank you guys for the pointers. I decided to cut the carbs completely (to a maximum of 45) starting yesterday. I hope it works out. I am a 'little' worried about missing the sweet stuff, so ideas for that are welcome. Thanks for the ricotta idea. Will try that. -
So sorry to hear this Stacie. I don't have any advice to offer, but I will whisper a prayer that it gets better.

dealing with a breakup, stress and a stall
filodough replied to annearctica's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am so sorry to hear about the breakup and stress. I hope you get some healing soon. In the meantime, my suggestion would be to come up with a list of non-food related things that you can do/be to help you deal with this hurt. Take a bath, take a walk, go shopping (careful with this one;), etc. -
Day 24. I have collarbones!

Hey ya, Unfortunately the stall is still here. I was in Chicago for the last three days, and it was hard getting my protein and water in, but calories remained low, and the scale still has not moved. I have decided to hide the scale, and will not measure for the next two weeks. It is really not very encouraging.

I am surprised no one has mentioned these _ maybe they are high-something :thumbup1: I LOVE SOUTH BEACH HIGH PROTEIN- chocolate flavor. Yummy....

First "dining out" experience, since sleeve...
filodough replied to youknowit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on handling it so well. Like Tiffy says it does get easier. I just got back from a two day trip with some girlfriends, and we ate out a lot, and I was able to keep my cover- lots of soups :thumbup1: -

FRUSTRATED!!! Am I the only one this is not going to work for?
filodough replied to filodough's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you guys for all your kind and encouraging words. Yesterday was a really bad day emotionally and mentally, and the frustration with this stall (I am not calling it my stall- just not giving it ownership) was blowing me over. I will be staying away from the scale for a few days- heading out to Chicago for a few days, and I hope that helps clear my mind a little. I really appreciate all your advice, and will take it to heart. -
Nexium, Hunger and my 2 cents
filodough replied to Keys Pirate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. I had not even thought about it until Oregon Daisy pointed it out. I don't have a prescription for Nexium, but have some Prilosec and Prevacid at home. Will start on that today. I had some greek yogurt an hour ago, and I am already 'hungry'/acid hungry' -
I have not told anyone except my fiance, my workout partner (Who has seen how hard it has been trying to lose weight), and one of my other besties who is skinny. I told a stranger one time. She was overweight- heavier than I am, and got the nastiest comment back. Not telling my family, because they are all overweight, and are likely going to be the most judgmental. My mother will just FREAK OUT! The two friends I told have been unbelievably supportive. my workout partner even did her version of the liquid diet in solidarity- and quit on day three, understandaly so -LOL!

Can someone analyze what I'm eating pls?
filodough replied to tennessee1031's topic in Food and Nutrition
I am still hungry and I am on my first week of a full menu. Week 5 just ended for me. I eat 3 meals and 2 high Protein Snacks, and have no problem getting 800 calories per day. (I struggle to keep them under 800, and most days have stayed under 800 or maybe 20 to 30 calories more. I am especially hungry (and bored) in the evening. I don't have problems with acid -in that I am not uncomfortable, but am I meant to be taking acid reducers for hunger? Also, I heard that at one point you lose interest in food- when is that? I miss food! I don't act on it, but I miss food. and I really want to stop thinking about it. -
hahaha! Tiffany, I had to chuckle at that confession. Facebook is a wonderful thing!!! I checked out my ex's profile too, and had only one thought in my mind. I am sure you and I share the same thought- GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH!!!

Loosing, I am still in the stall as well. I hit mine about the 2.5 week mark, and the scale has not moved yet for almost two weeks. Deedee mentioned that her stall was almost 20 days, but she has reached goal. Right now I hanging on that little bit of hope :lol0:

Vacation after surgery???
filodough replied to jenn20's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My opinion. I got my surgery Jan 14th. if I had to wait another 7 months, I WOULD DIE- LOL! I think you will enjoy your 21st birthday even more being skinny. And - what are your surgeons instructions on alcohol? I was told 6 months by mine, but every surgeon is different. -
Joining a gym - tips needed please
filodough replied to nagaraj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it really depends on your personality. Are you the kind of person who pushes yourself? Are you kind who is not so hard on yourself? Do you enjoy exercising with groups? Are you 'body-conscious'? The one thing that is most important for me is a gym that is close to my house. My gym is two blocks away. That way, I have minimal cause for excuses. (even though I sometimes still find one). I also did not want a 'gym-y gym'- you know the kind that has the crazy body-builders howling, so this one worked for me. One of my best investments previously has been a personal trainer. She taught me how to work out, and she PUSHED me. I cannot afford her right now, but if I could, I would have loved to keep her. The only thing I am not too fond of about my gym is that there are not enough classes, and the really great ones are early in the a.m. (at 6 a.m.- and I unfortunately do not function at that time). -
How long was your stall? and what did you do to break it?
filodough posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on January 14th, and lost 14 pounds. Now I have been having the infamous three week stall since last week Wednesday, and have been floating between 177.5 and 178.9. I read a lot about the stall, but this is really getting old. No amount of reading can prepare you for feeling like crap that you had your surgery to lose less than 15 pounds, and I can't help but feel like I am the ONLY ONE that this surgery will not work for. Did you have a stall? How long was it? What did you do to break it- if anything? And in the meantime, how did you survive those days? p.s. my Water and Protein intake has been decent for the most part- 64 oz, and 70 grams of protein.
