Welcome to the site Rachel! I am someone who had many doubts/questions, but found the answers & the reassurance I needed through many posts on here! My husband was a good listening board as well & through him & my own thoughts I am now sitting in my hospital room waiting my turn in the OR! Talk your way through it all & you'll do whats best for you in the end! Luckily the pre/post op diets are a small price to pay for the long, healthy life you'll lead because of them!

IT'S TIME! Getting sleeved in the morning!!!
Kai replied to Kai's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks ladies... for this and all your posts on this forum. You have no idea how much all your posts have helped me in getting here tonight! You are a HUGE help to so many people! Vegas-I will try to stay clear from that room! Thx! lol -
Anyone scheduled for sleeve with Dr. Aceves the week of Jan 18th - 22nd.
Kai replied to Barbara278's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi ladies! Your time is getting so close! I haven't posted in a while, but I am in San Diego now - getting picked up tomorrow morning to head to Mexicali! I hope you all do well on the pre-op diet & I will post again tomorrow night to update you, once I'm in my room after all the testing is done. Not gonna lie... the jitters got to me slighty & I was tempted to "vacation" in San Diego & catch a plane home all in tact! lol All is well now though (many thanks to all the reassuring posts on this site) & I am back on track & more focused than ever! Yay sleeve! -
Having a hard time in Mexico! surgery tomorrow!
Kai replied to Megan_SF's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm headed there Sunday & even I am freaking out here at home! But just remember, you did your research & you're there for a reason... these are just the normal cold feet jitters. Pretty soon you'll be on he other side of things & you'll be one of the posters helping all us newbies with our decisions & our new journey! Good luck & wishing you a smooth surgery! I am unaware of the spinal tap as well??? -
Wish you well on your surgery & recovery! What a great positive attitude!

JUST scheduled my VSG with Dr. Aceves for Jan 11th...eek!
Kai replied to Kai's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Kim! Sounds like you are doing well, which is just as good as hearing about your experience there! Did your mom stay in the room with you? I've read about a sofa in the room, is it a sofa bed or just sofa? My husband will be coming with me, and he is super supportive & caring, but can be a bit of a baby... so here's hoping he sucks it up as much as I have to! lol -
My husband and research guru came across this forum & has insisted I register & post, claiming it's the most informative out there! So here goes... I don't know all the ins & outs yet, so if this is in the wrong place I apologize. I understand there are quite a few of Dr. Aceves' patients on here & I would love to hear your feedback. My husband said he had a hard time coming across any negative comments about the Dr, his staff & the hospital, so I guess any of those would be helpful too. Not that I want to hear anything negative, but I'm sure it will help with my overall view of things. Never in a million years did I think I'd be going to Mexico for surgery, so here's hoping I've made the right decision. Anyone else on here going to be there the same week, Jan 11-15? Be great starting this together with someone! Thanks, hope to hear from some of you soon!

Hi Stephanie! Welcome to the site! Although I am fairly new on here as well, I've found it to be so helpful. I don't post much, but I sure do read A LOT!!! I have PCOS as well and diabetes in the family, so my reasons for surgery were not far off of yours... also we're the same weight, so I look forward to following your journey as well! My surgery is next Monday & I am going through every emotion possible, but I will keep you posted on how it all plays out. Wish you the best in finding a surgeon, that was the longest part of my research but I'm glad I took the time!

Really stressing about the hair loss aspect of this...
Kai replied to twobluecats's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hair loss is something that worries me too like crazy. I have VERY thin hair now & can't imagine what it will be like after surgery. I just keep telling myself it will all be worth it & the hair will grow back... but I can't lie, this is still something that keeps me awake at night & surgery is in a week. I will just try the Vitamins, shampoos & newly mentioned scalp massages & hope for the best! -

Kai replied to Barbara278's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW, so many of you there the week after me! I'll have to start a new post to see if I can find any company on here for my week too! Congrats to all three of you (Barbara, Brenda & Teri), wish you all a safe surgery & happy you'll have each other as walking partners! -

Kai replied to Kai's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
deedee & Linda, thanks for your replies & more so your kind words! I see that you are both so close to your goal weights... huge congrats! It's truly inspiring & gives me something to really look forward to! Kris, thanks for giving some insight into your experience with Dr Aceves. I'm looking forward to starting this journey & am pretty relieved with all the good feedback everyone has on him. I too looked into US hospitals, but when I read the level of service from him & his team, I was quickly sold. I'm not discrediting any US hospitals and/or surgeons, but when I'm traveling so far & paying out of my pocket I really wanted to go somewhere that more than a few people had rave reviews about! All the best in your continued weight loss, sounds like you're well on your way! -

Total Newbie! Surgery date set & SCARED to death!
Kai replied to Choose2Lose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a newbie too who has just confirmed my surgery date & is also scared to death! lol Although I think I'm more scared of myself & wanting to succeed rather than the surgery. I also waivered between the US & Mexico & finally based my decision on all the positive feedback about the surgeon (Aceves) and his tactics, staff etc. I won't know if I've made the right decision until I'm there, but that's the case when going to a different country. Good luck in your decision making, I'm sure you'll make the right choice for you. And, this forum stuff doesn't seem too difficult after all for us newbies... as this is already my 4th post... types me with my husband sitting beside me for assistance!!! -
