    Ouch!

If I were you, I'd just contact my surgeon to let him know. He may do nothing and just want to take a watch and wait approach, but I still think it's a good idea. He may have had a previous patient that went through the same thing and be able to offer some advice.
  3. How did your dr appt go? Did they offer any advice? My MD didn't tell me to restrict anything after surgery either, so I'm curious to know what they told you? Have you had any weightloss yet?

  4. That is so neat!! I have pictures of my sleeve. I asked that they take before and after pictures during surgery. The body is just so amazing and resilient!
  5. I had such a successful day today. The first since my surgery... I found protein shakes that I can actually tolerate. GNC's 100% Whey Chocolate Caramel is amazing! I went in to by the Optimal 100% Whey as suggested on here; however the lady in the GNC said that that very company makes the GNC's brand, so...I chose to save money and get buy one get one free. Second success, I braved trying soft solids again. I had some chicken and sauteed onions with some cheese. I ate slowly, I burped alot, but best of all I finally felt full in my belly and not in my throat!!!! Thank you Jesus!! I was so excited and I wanted to share with you all.:hurray:
  6. I was wondering if anyone had an irregular menstrual cycle post-op. I had a cycle 4 days pre-op and 2 days post-op, and then again 12 days post-op that is still ongoing?!?! Anyone experience anything weird?

    Cravings & Hunger

During my pre-op diet, I was super irritable! I had to do the 2-week low carb/high Protein, and honestly after about 9-10 days, I didn't care if I ever saw a piece of meat, egg, etc. ever again. So (not that I'm recommending this), for my last "weekend of freedom" I ate what I wanted. Only I ate a child's portion, and I was really surprised at how satisfied I was. I just figured I'm may never be able to eat some of my favorite things again, so I may as well enjoy them one last time before I have to start Clear liquids. Post-op...I have absolutely no appetite. I would go days without eating or drinking if I knew I survive. Hunger? I don't even know what that is anymore. Honestly, I haven't even gotten "head hungry" as others told me I might. I watched the food Network for 2 solid weeks and NOTHING! The very thought of chewing and swallowing disgusts me. Don't get me wrong, food still tastes great when I do eat, but I wish I could taste and then spit out. I'm 3 weeks out today. My MD says he hopes I never get hungry again, but fellow VSGs say I will get back to normal and that it's just a process.
  8. When was everyone able to tolerate soft solids? My nutritionist says that from this point on, it will be a trial and error deal. Soft solids are not working for me. I've tried now on 3 seperate occassions trying completely different foods, and I take maybe 4-5 very small bites over 20-30 minutes, and I feel literally like if I open my mouth, I'll see my food. It just seems to fill up in my esophagus. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be any type of warning that it's not getting in my stomach until I feel as if I can't even swallow my spit. I'm looking for hope that I'll be able to tolerate soft solids and get off of purees in the near future.

    Potato Soup

I love this recipe!!!! It's delicious. Drop a slice of cheese in it, and it's perfect!
  10. I am about 19 days post-op, and I'm having A LOT of trouble getting my protein in. I am super picky first of all, and I have a horrible gag reflex to textures and tastes. I have found that I really enjoy the NAKED PROTEIN ZONE drinks; however, after I drink even half, my heart starts racing, and for about 4-6 hours I feel like complete poop!?! I feel nauseated and exhausted, etc. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have anysuggestions? I don't feel like this any other time except after consuming a protein drink... Thanks

    Drain

I had a drain for 5 days. I did go home with it, and I had to empty it 3x/day. Mostly it's just a nuisance to remember that you have it. On my removal day, I tried to put my pants on and pulled it. It was just uncomfortable, and the removal was weird but not painful. My surgeon also said it was to monitor was was going on inside. He said that it sould only drain serousanguinous fluid at <120ml/8hours. Mine, once home, drained less than an ounce per 8 hours. Mine was also in my left side in a seperate incision from the trocars.

    Stretching your sleeve

You are definitely not alone! I struggle with the fear of failing on an hourly basis. I still don't know when I'm full, and I haven't experienced the pain in the sternal area nor the vomiting. I'm struggling to get my Protein because I am very picky and can't find anything that tastes good enough to have daily. I struggle to drink because I feel so bloated like I have to wait to burp before I can take another bite. Everyone keeps telling me it's trial and error, but errors make me feel miserable and I know longer want to trial. Please know that you're not alone, and when/if you figure out how to get past your fears, I'd love to hear how you overcame them!
  13. Hello everyone! I have the vertical sleeve procedure on 12/16/09. My surgery was a breeze. No complications. Discharged in under 36 hours. I am now in my pureed phase of the post-op diet which is going just ok. The problem that I'm having is that I have absolutely NO desire to eat or drink. I have tried everything. I've watched the Food Network for a week which normally I would eat myself out of house and home, and still nothing. When I do force myself to eat, everything tastes fine. I get excited when I get to introduce new foods until it comes down to the act of eating. Has anyone experienced this? I'm trying to figure out if I am truly not hungry or if I'm psyching myself out because I'm afraid to fail?
