    Tracking what you eat

I use fatsecret.com, it has an app on andriod that lets me scan the barcode and it syncs automatically with the website. I really like that feature. I think the app is called calorie counter.

    July Surgeries

I was sleeved on Thursday and woke up with a drain, a catheter and my period (ECK!). I was okay the night of surgery but Friday was hell. I stayed an extra night because I wasn't drinking enough fluids. My esophagus kept spasming. They discharged me on Saturday. I have been home and trying to drink every since. Its tougher than I thought it would be, this is an uphill battle for me. Does anyone else have these throat spasms? I'm have to brace myself for a drink after every swallow.
  4. I am three days post op as well. I was running a fever and my blood pressure has jumped to a dangerous level. They gave me something to reduce the fever though. I know what you mean about bouncing back after a revision (didnt have my galllbladder out). I am having a hard time adjusting and drinking. Let me know what you end up doing.

    July Surgeries

I'm getting revised to a sleeve tomorrow! I'm so nervous that I can't sleep!
  6. Thank you for posting today! I'm having a revision on Thursday and I needed some positive reinforcement. I'm so nervous that I'm going to wake up and the doctor say that I had too much scar tissue and they couldn't do anything for me . I'm also nervous about this not working for me.
  7. I picked up butternut squash soup, tomato bisque, sweet potato soup, tomato basil...everything that I could find that was creamy...from Harris Teeter. I'm sure that whole foods and trader joes have the same things though.

I'm reading through the threads but thanks for hospital updates!
  9. I have never recieved anything about my paperwork. I have gotten calls from their nurse to let me know that they were available to talk about medical issues or questions that I may have.

    July Surgeries

Hey mellifrits, I'm glad you came though alright! Sounds like your a little bruised up. Were you a revision from a band?

    July Surgeries

I will be having revision surgery from band to VSG on July 29th. Dr. Wohlgemuth in Virginia will be doing my surgery.
  12. I am getting ready to get a revision to VSG on July 29th. Aetna approved my revision in May. I'm not sure what my doctor submitted as I didn't have to go to the nutrionist or pcp. I have had 2 upper GI's in the past 3 years though. Maybe they sent those in. I'm sooo nervous though, I have doubts every now and than regarding if I'm doing the right thing. Maybe you should ask the surgeon's office to send in a pre-determination letter.
  13. I'm not actually sure what they submitted. I was told by my doctors office that it was at the suggestion of an Aetna nurse that they send in for a letter of predetermination. They said they just faxed over my medical history. Two weeks later, I had an approval letter. They couldn't have sent over my nutrionist and pcp notes because I hadn't completed the 3 mos yet.
  14. I don't know if you are referring to me but I had an upper GI back in 2009 and in 2008. I was having band slippage issues. I'm not sure what they sent it though. I was simply told that Aetna requested that my medical records be submitted so they could make a determination as to whether I could have the surgery.

    how was the pain?

I wonder if the port site will hurt the most. I had my band removed in November but I still have my port. It seems that removing the port will be the most painful besides having someone cut 85% of your stomach off, lol.
  16. I have Aetna and am being revised from a band to a sleeve. I have been approved with no pre requisites, but my case may be different from yours. I didn't have to go to any classes but I was going anyway as I had heard that they require people to do 3 mos with a nutritionist. Anyway, my doctor sent off for approval and next thing you know I get a letter and a call telling me that I have been approved. I meet with my doctor next week to talk about the surgery.

    Aetna is covering VSG

I know your asknig avilda, but I have Aetna as well and they will take either. The 3 mos is supposed to be more intense followups with your nutrionist, fitness trainer and your pcp.

    Vacation

Huh? Take what 7-8? Do you mean money?
  20. I posted a reply to your message over on OH. I was just approved for a revision to the sleeve yesterday. They submitted the paperwork in April but it was sitting in Aetna's queue with no case number so I called and withing 24hrs I got a call from my dr's office saying that I was approved.
  21. I was talking to the practice manager where I plan on having my revision done if/when Aetna decides to cover the VSG. I was approved for a revision back in Nov'09 to replace my band, they were not able to and could only remove the band, my port is still in place. She said that I may have to do a supervised diet to get approved for another revision. That really confuses me because it would seem as if I should already be covered by the Nov'09 approval. Anybody else have to jump through any special hoops? I think I'm going to make an appt for my PCP just to get my weight logged for the month.
  22. Well I did go back to my surgeon and they are going to submit a letter of pre-determination this week. In the mean time, I have been told to also act as if I am trying to get approval again, so I need to see my nutritionist and PCP 3 times over the next four months.

    Aetna is covering VSG

I agree with pnw218. Do what is best for you. I'm glad that you are positive about your outcome with the band but also why do it twice? The decision is definitely a hard one especially if you are having reservations about the VSG. I know that I am a bandster and want to revise to a VSG, if I had it to do over again, I would have just gotten the VSG the first time.
  24. Anybody trying to get revised to a VSG? Aetna doesn't list the VSG as a covered revision, what is a girl to do :crying: I'm so upset about this....I cried in the doctors office.
