    Changes

I decided to change my web name from FOR ME AND MY FAMILY to MAKINGPROGRESS. For me making progress and having myself and my family see and support the changes just reinforces all of the progress I have made so far on my journey to my goal. I am a mother of 5 kids and can't wait till the day that I can jump on a trampoline without the worry I would break through. I can't wait for the day that I can tie my shoes with little effort without unbuttoning my pants to make myself more comfortable. I am sure that all of us are there or have been there. I focus now on making goal, what that will be and feel like, and having the moment when I realize that I can tie my shoes with no effort and that I make that first attempt at jumping on a trampoline with no worries. I would encourage you to write on a piece of paper on your bathroom mirror anything that you can't do now because of your weight and that you will do when you get to your desired healthy weight. Believe me it's motivation. I so look forward to the day that I can take that list down and go do everything on it. I'm motivated because I am focused on my changes for a healthier me.

    Going Vertical

I had my initial consult with my surgeon consultation today. Good news is I'm going to go vertical..sleeve that is. :001_tongue: I lost 3.2 pounds since my orientation class (11/14/09 - weight 248.1), so even the smallest of changes mattered. My goal is set for me to loose 14.9 pounds from my current weight 244.9, then I can set up my next set of appointments at a 230 weight. How I got to this point. I started my research about WLS in June 2009 along with joining the gym after two months of 5 days of week 2 hour workouts and no budge to the scale, I thought there must be something wrong. I saw my primary care physician in September. Low and behold I found out I have Hypothyrodism which was a contributor. My doctor and I discussed WLS, I decided that I was going to pursue and he and I scheduled all of my required test, PAP, Mamogram, etc.. He went that one extra step which saved my life. He ordered a sigmoidoscopy, they found cancer and one week later I was in for a colonoscopy to determine if I had anymore (I didn't) So, two weeks later in October 20, 2009 I had Sigmoid colonectomy. No chemo, no radiation and no more cancer. Today I am 8 weeks post op from that surgery. My doctor told me that If it was a year from now that it would of shown up in my bloodwork and I would of had a very differant outcome. Thank goodness I was pursuing WLS or I would of never known. Now that I am healthier. I am on track again to continue to get back my life in a more healthier me. I have taken many "Health" classes, which all have been benificial to educating me for making the best decisions. The surgeon today and I decided that the Sleeve would be the best for me. So the sleeve it is. I am excited about a healthier me. I am going to work really hard at making sure I follow the rules, continue to identify and deal with my food relationships and most of all no matter what size I am.. love myself fully. Orientation 11/24/09 - Weight 248.1 Surgeon Consult 12/14/09 - Weight 244.9 Goal Weight for next steps and surgery date - Weight 230 Thanks for reading my journey. :wink1:
