How does exercise effect Calorie & protein count?
amerigirl replied to JudyJudyJudy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am a biggest loser fan. They exercise a lot and when they don't get enough calories then they don't lose. I have heard Jillian say that very thing. -
What do you want to do that you couldn't do before the sleeve?
amerigirl replied to *susan*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I want to have more energy. I'm tired of being tired all the time. I want to wear a gorgeous pair of heels! I want to wear some designer jeans. I want to be a run a 5k. I want to chase my boys around the park! I don't want to feel nervous anymore when we have family get togethers and wonder if people notice how uncomfortable I am in my own skin! -
This is the way I see it. I can do this diet for the sleeve because I know it will be the last time. What makes dieting so weary is hitting your goal. Struggle to maintain and then gaining it back. This time you diet for the months that it takes you hit goal and maintaining is much easier because you can't over eat. That is what I'm looking forward to. Being able to change my lifestyle for good!

Need a suggestion on unflavored protien that I can add to my water, and I don't have to order from the internet.

Running! My sister has always been thin but with a little meat on her legs and and butt. She started running and I've never seen here so lean! That is what I plan on doing. Here is a great plan. They even have a great download for itunes to help you get running. It called Couch to 5K. Here is link. You can do a search on your itunes and the download will come up. I've been married to my husband for 4 years. He had no skill. I found myself being very frustated and unhappy and absolutely no sex drive! After I had our second baby this past October and the six week recovery we had sex. WOW! He was doing stuff I didn't know he knew. I literally stopped in the middle and said "Are you my husband?" I guess he knew all along. I should have talked to him before but it was great that out of the blew just one day there it was!

Just saw Oregon's post. I think I will try the GNC Brand. Is this it? Are the Isopure ready made drinks ok for the clear liquid stage?
-
Tiffykins, Were they the store brands at GNC? Is the taste awful or would it be tolerable in Crystal Light? Are they ok for the clear liquid stage? I have a credit for GNC so that would work really well. Plus there protien is on sale right now.

Would this work in the clear liquid stage?

Recommendations for last day of gluttony
amerigirl replied to Bambi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Pre-op diet is the atkins two weeks before surgery, a colon cleanse 2 days before and Clear liquids until then. I would love to have one of my sons cheez-its. I was thinking that I would have a last meal the day before I do my colon cleanse. then clear liquids till surgery. Do you think it will reverse all my hard work over the past two weeks? -

Recommend a good protein supplement
amerigirl replied to liciawms's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going to make a post for this. I am two weeks from surgery so I have been trying different Protiend drinks. Most have been recommended on this site. I find that I am pretty tolerable of the protien taste but can't imagine sippy a drink that taste like that so I went on a Quest to find one. I tried Designer whey...this is what the Biggest Losers use. It's ok. Tolerable. Better if you add a splenda. I tried Jay Robb...Same as Designer Whey. It's ok. Not my favorite. Then I got my nectar that I ordered in the mail. I got a variet pak so I could try some different flavors. The first time I tried one it was the Crystal Sky flavor. It had the same smell of Protein that the others did. But when I took a drink I was surprised!!! NO PROTEIN taste. It was Great!! These Protein Drinks have 0 fat, 0 carbs, and 90 calories. So I tried the Stawbery Mousse. YUMMY!!!! Again NO PROTEIN taste! Yesterday I tried the Carribean Cooler. It tasted like Pina Colda. Not my favorite flavor because I don't like cocconut. NO PROTEIN taste. Today I had the Lemon Tea. Yet again NO Protien flavor. It tasted like instant tea. I'm totally going to order more and stick with the NECTAR brand. I think I could drink these long term! -
What is considered a clear liquid? Surgery is getting close so the questions are starting to roll.

Ok. I found some Ocean Spray Diet Cranberry and Grape juice. Its amazing!! Its very low calorie and very low carb. Could this be a clear liquid? I hope so!

Net Carbs is Total Carbs minus the amount of Fiber and the amount of sugar alcohols. Total Carbs is all the carbs in the product. Net Carbs subtracts the carbs that are less likely to cause a reaction with your blood sugar. Hope this helps.

I was wondering if any new the difference between the sleeve and getting your stomach stapled? I know a lady that had her stomach stapled a long long time ago and it didn't work for her. I know this surgery is new and different and better but what did that do when you had your stomach "stapled"? Anybody now? Thanks
-
Thanks Girls, that really helps. I ate dinner tonight and had a half a baked potato which is all carbs. I have to get really serious because tomorrow is 14 days before my surgery and I need to do Atkins so that everything goes smoothly with the surgery.

Tiffikyns I can not believe how much of a help you are. I not only read your post to my questions but the ones to others. I think you should write a book.

How long post-op does it take to drink(sip) a 16 ounce bottle of water? How are you affected by cold water and ice? I like to eat ice. Just wondering if that will change after surgery.

I just joined this site today. My surgery isn't until the 21st but I thought I would try and get in the habit. I've never been one that liked logging my food. It's just time consuming. Its encourage to find out that I won't have to drink protein forever!

Hi Marci, my sleeve surgery is for Jan 21st too. I am having my surgery in Mexico. I am 35 and have two little boys. My oldest is 21 months and my newest one is just 2 months old. We are a lot alike. I have been overweight since I hit puberty. I was in a size 24 when I graduated Highschool. I was over 300 pounds when I was 27. I discovered the Atkins diet and lost some weight. Then I discoved I had galstones. After that surgery I lost a hundred pounds. I kept it off I think because I kept trying to loose the rest of my weight but couldn't get under 207. I tried for 4 years to loose it. Then life happened I started gaining it back. I met my husband gained some more. I got pregnant and miscarried and gained some more. Moved a couple of time gained some more. Before I new it I was pregnant and 300 pounds again. So after I had my first one I tried really hard to loose it. I had told myself I would never be that weight again. For 7 months I tried to loose the weight. I tried Weight Watchers, Atkins, Metabolic Research Center, and Biggest Looser. Then I found out I was pregnant with my second. I didn't want to be 300 and pregnant again. I was so misserable the first time. Now I have decided to get some help. I'm tired of starving and not seeing anything come off and then giving up and trying again. I think the sleeve is what I need to help me with the other knowledge I have about loosing weight. My husband is so supportive. My sis is helping me pay for it. She is going with me. My mom is supportive because she struggles too. I've seen her sit at 200 for over 5 years while she gains and looses the same 10 pounds. My dad doesn't want to know anything about it until its over. He's scared about the surgery. Anyway. I have a few more pounds to lose than you do but I would love to be -sleeve buddies. I'm starting a pre-op diet tomorrow. It's gonna be hard but I need to detox from the holidays! Gwyn

I was wondering from those who have had surgery about there recovery. I have a 2 month old and a 21 month old. The 21 month old requires me to lift me occasionally but the 2 month old I carry all the time. Will this be a problem after surgery? If so how soon do you think I'll be able to lift them? One other questions.....I saw a thread here about loosing 100 pounds in 4 months? I know its been done so it's not impossible but part of me is skeptical. I know how much one pound is I can't imagine that much in 4 months. I'm starting around 335....do you think that is possible for me? Thanks Gwyn
-
My mom is going to be here with me and I have my husband. Since it was too long ago since I had the baby I was restricted for a little while before I could lift my 21 month old. I'm sure it won't be a problem. As long as I can hold the baby sitting I'll be fine. I would just miss it. Thanks
