  1. Okaaaaaaaay I deleted all of my pics off of OH and feel weird having a lot of them out there on the web but here goes!!
  2. Thank you I could never really visualize myself at this place and even now it seems surreal. I walked by a mirror today and looked away quickly because I was so startled at who was looking back. I hardly recognized myself. By the way, we had the same surgeon. You're doing awesome--keep up the great work!

    I AM FREAKING OUT,

Stay calm...breathe....you're doing this for all the right reasons and remember: it WILL be worth it! And, have you seen the list of complications and risks of obesity untreated? Yikes! You've got this girl!
  4. It is definitely different but I wouldn't say that it is the way she described. I never feel ravenous like I often felt pre-op but I do feel "hungry" sometimes. The part of your stomach that is removed is also the part that produces the hunger-inducing hormone ghrelin which is why many post-op sleevers will say they never feel true hunger. After a few weeks/months, that hormone is virtually gone and the hunger we felt pre-op is completely different. I eat when it is time for a meal and I have scheduled Snacks basically. If I didn't think about it, I could go all day without eating and not feel less energized or starved. It's hard to describe until you're post-op and I am sure it is different for everyone. I remind myself of a naturally thin person who only eats when she needs to. Eat to live, not live to eat. It sure is a nice switch from my pre-op mentality. Best wishes to you as your surgery approaches.
  5. Did you ever find an upstate NY surgeon?

  6. Did you ever find a surgeon who performs the sleeve in upstate NY? Who have the other upstaters gone with? Anyone been able to travel to another part of NY but still be covered under insurance?
  7. hey there! Yes, I am sorry we never had a chance to meet but I did see your Mom and even helped her get a hold of the airlines when she was changing the flights around. I am doing well. I hang out on Obesity Help more than this site...not sure why :) I am glad I am able to start making different things from recipes I have found online....How have you been doing?

  8. I completely understand! I've been out of town for almost 2 weeks. I can't believe January is here!!!

  9. That is great news! Thanks for letting me know :)

  10. I'd love to lose 75 but I would technically still be overweight so I'd need to lose 100 to be "normal". I am not sure if my frame would look right that small though, so my goal is to get to 175 and then I'll take it from there ;) I have just a few things left to gather before we leave for MX....any suggestions for the gloves/bactine stuff I should bring?

  11. That sounds about right! I haven't met anyone on OH or VST that is getting sleeved Wednesday with me but I'm sure there'll be a line ;)

  12. That would be very cool! My coordinator hasn't mentioned it; only about the change from 2/2 to 2/1 with 2 nights hospital and 1 night recovery house. I can't believe that I will (maybe) get to meet YOU and PNF from OH! How cool! I just saw you on OH and friended you :)

  13. Hey there! You mentioned the new hospital in a recent post. Do you know when it is supposed to open? I'll be there Jan. 13.

  14. Thanks Kira. The same thing got posted over on OH and it is disturbing. I'll be out of town/out of touch between 12/21 and 12/31 and then it'll be my 2 week countdown and your first 2 weeks post-op! I am truly excited about the possibilities and hope my break from the internet will calm my nerves!!

  15. Hi there; I am scheduled with Dr. Almanza on January 13th----looks like we will see each other there!

  16. I just saw that your surgery is tomorrow! Good luck, best wishes and my thoughts are definitely with you! I am scheduled for the VSG 1/13/10 with Dr. Almanza and look forward to chatting with you when you return from Mexico.

  17. I thought I read in one of your posts that you went to Dr. Almanza. Could you share with me more about your experience? I am scheduled for 1/13/10. Thank you in advance :)
