Question about Triglycerides
excited2lose replied to MINI-Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My triglycerides were 192 and the normal range is 30-150. There was an x next to it that my doc put there as a "surgery will fix this" type of thing. Hopefully it will be the same for you! -

Had Consult Today-have questions about pre surgical testing
excited2lose replied to breekahouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had all the usual blood work done, a psych consult, EKG and that was it. I am pretty healthy other than being obese though. -

Pre Op Diet Heacache!
excited2lose replied to Barbara278's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let me know when it finally goes away so that I know what to expect. I hope you feel better soon! I start my diet the 19th. I am kind of working on it now, but honestly it isn't going so well. :crying: -
I have been so excited about this entire process, but today I feel like that excited feeling has been replaced with fear. I have a 13 month old baby and a 5 year old that I am unsure about how I am going to care for them afterwards. My 5 year old-no problem. But I will only have help for a short while after surgery-how am I going to manage with my 13 month old that isn't walking yet? Then I read the thread on hair loss. :w00t: I have super thick hair and I lost a lot after each baby, but I hope I don't lose a noticeable amount. I tried some of the Nutrimed stuff that I am supposed to drink for the week before my surgery yesterday and I almost threw up. How am I going to do that for a week? I know in the end this is the right decision for me, but I just have a ton of fear about these other things.

Welcome. There is a wealth of information here and some wonderful people providing it. You are so lucky to have your dad 's support. My dad isn't financially helping out, but he is emotionally right there iwth me. It makes a huge difference, doesn't it?

So what are you drinking for your protein drink at this point? Everything my doc gave me looks gross. -
Personal Question - When did you have your first bowel movement?
excited2lose replied to barbannn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is what it says: Bowel Function: -You will be given a Senokot tablet (vegetable laxative) the night of your operation. -If this is not effective, on the following day you will receive suppositories every 6 hours until you have a bowel movement. -Constipation is a common complaint early on after surgery, due to the anesthetic, pain medication, and low Fiber intake during the full liquid phase of your diet that you will be on for 3 weeks after surgery. Try taking a stool softener daily to help you with this. Colace is a name brand-you can get the store brand... ...If you are still having a problem, please contact our office. So actually it didn't say that they wouldn't release you from the hospital without a bowel movement, but I remember them saying this at our preop appt. I hope I don't have to stay longer than 2 nights! -
I like the muscle milk light also. The chocolate just tastes like chocolate milk to me-and I am PICKY!

Personal Question - When did you have your first bowel movement?

I am still preop but my doc won't let me leave the hospital until I go. It says it in my book! :crying: -
Really stressing about the hair loss aspect of this...
excited2lose replied to twobluecats's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone taken Biotin before? My doctor has recommended it, so I am taking it-I have no idea if it will help. If it is better than post pregnancy hair loss, I am good to go. I have already been through that twice! -
Indiana, Ohio or Florida?
excited2lose replied to iamchrisstone's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am using Dr. Myers at Fresh Start. They have been great, but I really doubt that he would compete financially. I remember thinking he was higher than anyone else I had looked into. -
Congrats! My date is 1/25/10 so I am right behind you! :biggrin0::thumbup:

I know there is a ps forum, but there seems to be no traffic down there. If I wanted to find out if my insurance covers removing the skin from my belly, what do I ask? Is there a technical term? What do I ask?

I have my preop appt tomorrow. They said I should plan on being there from 8:30-1:30. Any thoughts on what to expect?

Further surgery because of skin?
excited2lose posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so curious whether I will have a lot of extra skin or not. I am 5'2, 226 lbs and 31 years old. Anyone have any thoughts/experiences on this? I have my surgery Jan 25th. -

Girl, you look great. I don't see surgery needed anywhere! Thank you for sharing! This helps a lot! -
Further surgery because of skin?
excited2lose replied to excited2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is very sweet. I would appreciate it. I am just so curious as to what I am going to look like after all this! I have only been this obese for a bit over 5 years. I didn't every battle with weight at all until about 22 and even then I wasn't really big. -
January 25th, 2010. Nervous, but I know this is what I have to do. I am going with Dr. Stephen Myers with Fresh Start Bariatrics in Columbus, Ohio. Can't wait!
