I didn't have any issues with hiccups post op except for the MORNING after surgery. I honestly thought I was going to die. I had them for four and a half hours. :thumbup1: They finally gave me an injection of something in the leg that stopped them within 10 seconds. I don't know what the injection was, but it bruised my leg really bad! But anyways-it hurts and I am sure it is annoying! It will subside though!

Steak goes down very easily with me. No problems there. I buy really soft cuts though, so maybe that is what it has to do with. I have only tried cashews (no peanuts) and they go down easily also. I am scared of raw veggies though. I did eat some squash when I was home (cooked really soft) but I wouldn't eat the skin because I kept thinking of Tiffy burping up corn. (seems like the same "shell" type thing) I only had about two bites because I figured it was high in carbs also. (I have no idea to be honest!)

700 sleeves and no leaks
excited2lose replied to cajun's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will admit, I am not a huge fan of surgery in Mexico. However, if I wouldn't have had insurance coverage, I would have gone to Dr. Aceves in a heartbeat. I LIKE that she said that at some point, there will probably be a leak. I mean-it happens. It just seems that other surgeons (US and Mexico) would never admit that just to get patients. -
I was able to take pills as soon as I got home. I did make the mistake of taking them to close together once and I slimed. I just take one, drink a good amount of water, wait 15 minutes and take another. (I take a few things at night)

I am on w2d2. I love the program. The key is to do it every other day. If you try doing it every day it will kick your ass from here to China. I am running a 5k in May, a 10k in August and hopefully a full marathon by next spring. I have the program on my Iphone, so I listen to my own music and the program just tells me when to run, walk and stop. My favorite is when it tells me I am done.

drinks are my hardest thing. I drink Water and pink lemonade crystal light. I don't even LOVE the crystal light, but I just needed something different. There are some low sugar/low cal fruit juices (I can't find them here, but I can find them in other locations) but I honestly don't care for them. I just can't find anything I love! Oh, and congrats on the 50 lbs! That is WONDERFUL! :001_smile:

I got out of the shower, grabbed my towel and wrapped up in it. Surprisingly, it went ALL THE WAY AROUND ME! Seriously-people can tell me all day "You look great!" but the towel fitting all the way around me? That will keep me smiling for weeks! :drool5::thumbup:

How are you feeling???
excited2lose replied to pastorgregumc's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I still don't feel great and I am 6 weeks out. I have severe diarrhea that I am trying to get through. It is awful. :001_smile: However, physically, I am training to run a 5k, 10k, 1/2 marathon and then marathon, so I am running every other day and swimming on the days in between. Obviously I feel pretty good in that department. -
Orange juice...oh, how I crave the oj! I have never been a big orange juice drinker, but it just sounds sooooooooo good right now!

I had a ginger ale this morning. I was so ill feeling and I had to drive about an hour and a half from my friend's house to our beach house and I didn't know what to do. I drank it slow, just had a small amount. It helped me feel better and if I took TEENY sips, it didn't hurt. I took a sip of my mom's sierra mist a few weeks ago and thought I was gonna die. It HURT. IT certainly isn't something I am going to do on a regular basis, but this morning it made me feel less sick.

Y'all will not believe this article...very insightful
excited2lose replied to cajun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I learned a long time ago that exercise (for me) does NOT move the scale. i am exercising this time for my health only. NOT for my weight. -
I have started running every day. I hope to run a marathon by the end of the year. :drool5: I love it. The thing is-I am sticking with 30g of carbs, but everything that I have read with runners is that you need more carbs for fuel. I am wondering if I should up my carbs a bit when running. Any thoughts?

Take your old jeans to Gap

Let me know if that link works. It does for me. -
I use the prenatal chewable vitamins. (Available by prescription) The Flinstones are lacking a lot of things you need. Tiffy can help you more with this topic.

I feel this way every day. I never want to eat anything. I eat to live. If something does sound good, I will want it and then when I have it, I never want it again. Odd.

Introducing new foods too fast??
excited2lose replied to pnw218's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told no strawberries or anything with seeds. I eat watermelon when I am really thirsty and water just isn't cutting it. I only eat a few spoonfuls at one time. -
I went from cokes to sprite, to nothing. It was really hard. But I did it. Trust me, you won't want anything carbonated after your surgery. I took a sip of my mom's Sierra mist last week and it HURT. I not longer have any desire for it!

Beginning to eat solids (suggestions?)
excited2lose replied to pastorgregumc's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am starting soft foods also. Today I bought: Trader Joe's-Organic Beef Top Sirloin Roast-Fully cooked and seasoned The protein count is high, no carbs of course and it was SOFT and tender. (I boiled it in the bag for about 6 minutes) It was SO good. I could only eat about 2 oz, my husband ate 6 oz and there is probably about 5 oz left. I ate a piece of cheese about an hour later and that was my dinner. In 3 oz, there are 90 cal, no carbs, 2g fat, and 19g protein. :scared0: My tummy took it well and didn't leave me running to the bathroom afterwards. (that is HUGE for me!) -
Question about Nausea
excited2lose replied to amerigirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have this problem at night. It is when I go to take my medicine. I gag and just feel ick. Mornings don't seem to be a problem. Hopefully someone will have some suggestions for us! When it gets really bad, I take a Zofran that I have from when I was pregnant. That has only been a few times though. -
So is it good or bad? Honestly? I don't want to fork out the money if it is going to be gross but my NUT recommended it today. She told me to add it to everything since I was having a tough time with protein. I have already wasted so much money on protein that I don't like. Is online the only place to get unjury?

Really frustrated with surgeon
excited2lose posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an appointment set up for this morning-it has been set for 2 weeks. I called prior to talk to my nurse-who is never any help on the phone. Anyway, the appt was for 10:15. I get there right on time, they take me back immediately. I had my 1 year old with me. Tick, tick, tick... 11:45 rolls around and no one had even attempted to tell me what was going on-no doctor, no nurse. My daughter had a half day at school so I had to go. I packed up our stuff and went to the lobby (i couldn't find anyone back near the examining rooms). A nurse was standing by the desk and I said "Hey, I am sorry, but I can't wait anymore." She just stared at me. I said "I have to go, but I have been waiting an hour and a half. I have to go get my daughter." The nurse LAUGHED in my face, rolled her eyes, took my file and turned her back on me. No one said "Hey, let's reschedule" or "I'm Sorry!" Nothing. I just turned around and walked out. I had tears in my eyes (I know, I am a baby-but I REALLY wanted to see the doctor today. I have a lot of questions.). I left and I thought "Oh, they will call me. They know my number." Do you think one person has called me today? No. I feel like they don't care at all! This was a huge procedure and I guess I was hoping for a little sympathy and caring. Nope. If you remember, I wasn't too happy with him after the surgery, but he redeemed himself with me. I guess I need to just follow up with my GP because I am so tired of this. :001_smile: -
Really frustrated with surgeon
excited2lose replied to excited2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So here is the story... No one called yesterday afternoon, so I got up this morning and called as soon as my GP's office opened. They said I could come in at 9:45. I was seen within 15 minutes. :thumbup1: My doctor seems to feel pretty confident that he will be able to do all follow up with me. He said the only reason we would really need to call back my surgeon is if I had a leak or other major complication. He prescribed a medicine that helps with the cramping-he really doesn't feel there is a problem with my sleeve-he just thought this was part of the healing process. He also told me to back up to full liquids for a few days and then do mushies again. He just thinks my body isn't ready yet. I took the medicine tonight and i have had no cramps at all. Still having some diarrhea, but not NEARLY as painful. So around 3 my surgeon called me and I didn't get to the phone on time. I listened to his message and he just said "Hey, just seeing if you are feeling better. Call me if you need me." Well, I don't need him so I didn't call him. I can't decide if I will ever call him back. He has about $700 of mine that I haven't used in nut appointments and other parts of my program fee. (Membership to a gym for 6 months-I won't use it because we just joined Lifetime and I love it) I am going to request that he refunds that money to me. I hope that he does, but honestly at this point I want to feel better and my GP is helping me with that. If I lose the $700, I will be pissed, but at least I will feel taken care of. -

Dr Stephan Myers of Columbus, Ohio. I will update later, but he certainly didn't redeem himself today. He DID call, but he waited until 3 pm. I didn't even answer. I have already seen my GP and he was able to help me out. I will update later. The baby just got up from his nap so I have to run!
