    Docs in Dallas Area?

My vote is Dr David Kim in Colleyville, Texas. He was my surgeon and this was the EASIEST and most painless abdominal operation I have ever had - and I've had a few. Answered all my questions - and then some! Check him out! :001_tongue:

    Why?

Same here on the carbonated drinks (expands the stomach, can deter healing of the staple line, etc). Was told that coffee irritates the stomach of many people, increasing acidity - which can again, damage your stomach. I don't plan on doing either! But, I have never been a real coffee or soda drinker - so, tis easy for me.

    Abdominal Pain

Could this be gall bladder related?
  4. Tiffykins and MidwestGirl - Thank you for holding me in good thought yesterday during my surgery! It went wonderfully. And, Tiffykins, I really like Dr. Kim. I was very, very nervous about this surgery because of some past and present health issues. I went back a few times to him after reading something scary, or having second thoughts, etc. He never once acted impatient with me and listened well to my concerns. After discussions with him I always felt comfortable. The hospital, Forest Park Medical, was great also. The nurses on the floor were very attentive and knew what they were doing. After having a few hospital experiences were I had to teach the nurses how to use their own equipment, show them how to insert an IV (no, I am not a nurse) - it was comforting to be somewhere where they actually knew their job AND liked what they were doing. The facility was clean and well staffed. Both Dr Kim and the hospital get A+'s from me! I was released this afternoon and am back home learning some new eating skills! I'm a little sore, but really don't need much pain med. On the loser's bench at last!
  5. Oops! Meant 1/11 instead of 1/14!
  6. My surgery is tomorrow at Forest Park Medical in Dallas, Texas with Dr. David Kim (Colleyville). I'll post afterwards and let you know how all went and what I'd rate the hospital! (Heading for that Loser's Bench!) :001_smile:
  7. Congratulations, Sarita! I was originally scheduled for Dec 14th, but had to be re-scheduled to January 11th ... Stay "gently" active and take care!! Madelyn
  8. Drinking with a straw causes too much air in the stomach ... that is what our "instruction" book says..
  9. Has anyone on the board had VSG done by Dr David Kim in Colleyville, Texas? Or know someone who has? How about the Forest Park Medical Center (physician owned, I think) where he performs his surgeries? Any info? Thanks for any information! :lol0:
  10. Hey Elaine! I talked with someone where I work today and found out that she had had the VSG surgery - wow! She looks absolutely GREAT! And, she said that she her energy level was low for a bit, she is now full speed ahead!

I am getting really excited about the surgery - especially with the more I read about it and the more folks I communicate with who have had bariatric surgery of some kind!

We are going to do just GREAT! and we will feel so healthy and look so good!! YEA!

  11. Helloooooo glad you found it yes I agree many more sleevers on here I too like the LAWLS but love here and ObesityHelp - Gastric Bypass, LAP-BAND? System, DS and Other Surgical and Non-Surgical Weight Loss Options. too as you have a health tracker and you can input all your pre op measurements and keep track of your progress with graphs I thought it was a good idea !

Well done on the pre op I haven't weighed myself but I feel like I have lost some weight already fingers crossed

not long to go now !

    Hello :)

Hi InternetAngel ... My name is Madelyn and I am a newbie to the site. My surgery is scheduled for December 14th. I am really nervous about it - ESPECIALLY the situation that you are experiencing now. I KNOW that I have used food as a "solution" to problems/conflicts my whole life and I am definately going to "morn" the loss of my "buddy". I wish I had an easy answer to what you are going through ... I don't. But, this site seems to be really supportive; with alot of folks who have been through it and come out the other side. We are all struggling with trying to find healthy ways to deal with issues that we used food as the solution for - so, keep coming to the boards when you are feeling dowjn - vent, cry, whatever it takes to get over it. I am certain that you, as well as I, will find the right way to "deal" if we just open ourselves up to trying a new way. You CAN do this. There are alot of folks "rooting" for you!
  13. Hi Elaine! Found this website almost by accident! And what fun to see that I already "know" someone participating! I like the idea that this one has lots of folks who have had the sleeve ... while I like the LAWLS site, I think the VSGs were definately few!

Anyway - hope your still doing well on your pre-op...I'm into my second week and doing fine. I'm still nervous about the surgery, but trying to maintain positive thoughts!!
