    Need some support ...

Hey There Mini! I can soo relate with what you are saying. Everytime I looked at myself in the mirror I would think to myself "the scale says I've lost weight, Why can't I see it?" Then last weekend I went dress shopping and found this really awesome black dress and I was AMAZED when I looked inthe mirror. I could finally see it. I used to wear a 24... this dress was a 16!!!! So I think it is like John said, what you wear might make a difference. You are doing great 30 lbs in 2 months is fantastic. Keep up the great work!
  2. Does anyone know when we can add fibre and raw vegtables back into our diet? I am craving raw veggies and salad :drool5:. Plus I could use the help of fiber (:blush:trying not to be too graphic). LOL! Thanks, your help is much appreciated.

    Fibre & Raw Vegtables

Thanks for the info. I have tried mushrooms, tomatoes, & cucumbers and been ok with them. What I really want is my carrrots , broccoli, and cauliflower. Perhaps I will try a few bites of salad tonight for dinner and see how that goes. Ohhh I can't wait! LOL!

    I can't take it.....

Hello Again! I was told not to chew gum as it pushes air into your stomach and could cause gas pains and bloating. I was told not to use a straw for the same reasons.

    I can't take it.....

Hello Marci! There are a couple of options for gatorade. I found one by gatorade called G2 it is half the sugars and only 30 calories per 250 ml. But better yet I found Powerade Zero which has 0 calories,0 carbs, 0 sugars and only 60 mg of sodium. It is Gatorade's competition. So far I have only found 2 flavors Mixed berry and strawberry. Both are delicious. I have had the dry mouth too. Doctor said that is a side effect of the antibiotics I have 2 more days of them to go then hopefully it will disappear. Congrats on your journey and your weightloss so far. Keep up the great work!
  9. Hello All! I am down 18lbs a week after my sleeve. Very excited about that! Does it usually keep that pace or should I expect a slow down soon. I would love to be down 40-50 lbs by March when I go home to see my family again. Do you think I am aiming too high?
  10. Hello! Things are usual in Fort Mac.. Work Work Work, not to mention Cold Cold Cold. LOL! I felt great from the get go. The day after the surgery I was a bit uncomfortable from gas bubbles. But nothing I couldn't handle. I was able to walk around no prob after that. Each person is different though so you will have to judge that the day of your excursion. I wouldn't carry much more than your wallet and a bottle of Water though. As for the flight home. I was exhausted. 18 hrs later I arrived home. Ask the flight attendant for the belt extender if you need it... it helps. Also see if Dr Betancourt will give your group a letter stating you had surgery and let the attendants know as soon as they showup to do preboard. Most times they will see if you can get a seat to yourself or at least nobody between you. That way you can stretch out a bit more to be comfortable. In the airports check to see if they have a juice booth because you can get a smoothie with protien powder added to give you an extra boost. Try to get one without yogurt though as you are going to be on Clear liquids. If not walmart sells the protien to go by the biggest loser that doesn't taste to bad with COLD water. Don't hesitate to ask anything else. Talk to you soon!
  11. Hello all! Alison, Linda and I all had our surgery on the same day. and we are all home doing fine. The only negative part of my trip was lost luggage (which BTW I still don't have). The facility was very clean. The staff was very courteous and I had no problem communicating my needs to them. I had no pain whatsoever after the surgery. I actually declined the pain medicine as it was not necessary. But I am home now and I feel great and have lost 10 lbs so far. Tomorrow I probablly won't feel to good though because I get my stitches removed. I am so excited to be on this journey. I will let everyone know that you are waiting to hear from them. Have a great day!
  12. Hello There 2B4Me! I just had my surgery on Jan 11. I am home now doing great. The most important thing I would suggest is take a carry on bag with or instead of Luggage. I packed my bag with all my necessities for a comfy trip. I arrived in San Diego my luggage never did. I have been home for 2 days now and still no luggage. So if you are able to take a carry on.... DO IT! LOL! The staff is great I had no problems communicating my needs to them. If you are concerned bring your laptop and you can google a translator. We found that out after we were at the recovery house. As for the Pain.... Perhaps I am a lucky one but I had no pain whatsoever after the surgery. There are gas bubbles which make it uncomfortable but the more you move around the quicker they go away. I threw up a few times but that is only because I said " No I never get sick from anesthetic" LOL. Murphy's law I guess. The facility is clean and bright. The doctor comes in daily to check and see how you are doing. They really go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable. I would recommend this facillity and the surgeon to anyone who asked.
  13. Hello Linda!

    Officially lost 100lbs

congrats on your success! I am just beginning my journey so I have a way to go yet. I too want to lose 100 lbs and am having a sleeve performed. How did you go about telling your family? I made this decision and my husband supports me. But I am afraid to tell the rest of my family. Congratulations again on your success!

    bad day yesterday...

Hello Jenn! I too am from Alberta and after a lot of research I am leaning towards this proceedure. Would you be able to help me by answering a few questions? My e-mail is jayciejay@hotmail.com. I would like to know who your doctor was? Did you get the proceedure done in Alberta? Was there a long wait time? Was it covered by AHC? Stuff like that. How are you feeling now? Do you think it was all worth it? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!:001_rolleyes:
